When attempting to install IIS on my WinXP Pro sys (SP2 installed) I get the
following errors:

Setup cannot copy the file uiihelper.dll.

There are a great number of .dll files that I get this error with. The
install utility is looking in the C:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 folder,
however, all the files the installer appears to be searching for are in the
folder.

What can I do to overcome this hurdle?

Thanks

The following is what was returned when performing the operation suggested
on the referred page. However, it gave no suggestions for the method to
repair it for the results I received. What might I do now?

It also assumes that I have the SP2 CD, however, I updated to SP2 online.
How would I get around that obstacle as well?

Thanks,
Ken

Bernard, I am running into this kind of problem today. This morning, I ran
into unexpected problems that led me to reinstall XP SP2. It's now evening
and I'm still battling it.

On the third attempt to "Repair" the XP2 install, midway through I get the
error "Setup cannot copy the file iisRtl.dll." iisRtl.dl_ is right there on
the CD, and the setup simply won't take it. While in the setup, I hit browse
and try to rename iisRtl.dll (which works), but setup is still not satisfied.

I did run across the the article you just pointed the other guy to:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=894351

First observation: iisRtl.dl_ is not the only file I get it on. It happens
on about 15-20 other dll's including staxmem.dll. (Cancelling 20 or so times
eventually gets setup to the end, but rebooting results in a blue screen.)

Second observation: there's no way for me to run esentutl.exe, because I'm
essentially locked out of my computer.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Running esentutl.exe require that you can run XP. My XP installation was
corrupted, so the only thing I was able to do (with the materials on hand)
was to trying to reinstall XP.

Installing IIS separately wasn't the issue for me. The issue was getting
the Repair option of XP SP2 install to work correctly. Also, I'm not sure if
this workaround would have worked, but I wished I had the opportunity to try
it. I ended up completely replacing the XP SP2 installation (requiring app
reinstall, user account additions, etc). :(

Thans,
Brian

Ok, so I got the Microsoft SP2 CD, re-installed it, and tried to load the
IIS again, and end up with the same staxmem.dll et-cetera error messages.
Then I ran the integrity test again, and the following is the result:

Why isn't it up to date, as I just reinstalled SP2 per the instructions?
Now what do I do, as the error message I get now does not match the sample

PS: I forgot to mention...when I go to install IIS after method 2 and point
to c:\winxp (and c:\winxp\i386) for the staxmen.dll (and all the others) I
get the same error massege as it found STAXMEM.DL_ instead, so I figured it
would error out on all the other files as well.

Please HELP!

Yes, when I go to install IIS after method 2 and point to the integrated
directory I created c:\winxp (and c:\winxp\i386) to find staxmen.dll (and
all the others) I get the same error massage as it found STAXMEM.DL_
instead. I just gave up there as I figured it would error out on all the
other files as well.

Ok, I agree it's weird, but is there a fix short of starting from scratch
with a format and reinstall?

Why is the file STAXMEM.DL_ instead if just STAXMEM.DLL? However, it is
STAXMEM.DLL in the original directory and still errors out. Is the
installer corrupted such that it can't read it? Is there a fix?

Thanks

hang on hang on.
when it prompt you for staxmen.dll file, you should point it to the new
path. c:\winxp\i386. does it run after that?
if yes, then it is working. It required the staxmen.dl_ not the .dll file as
it will uncompress the source file before copying it to your system.

so my question is - does it went through the first file? staxmen.dl_ ??

if yes, then it is working. you just have to tell the system the new
installation path.

Re:Installation od IIS: file errors by cloud

THis is the best advice that i can come up with. put in your windows cd goto
clean install, when it prompts you to repair the os do so. wait til it
finsihes. IF yours is at all like mine you will have to restart. than you
should have the ability to copy and paste. get a back up drive backup
important data. than wipe you HDD and start over. i spent about 5 hours + on
this and this is the best plan i think that might work.

good luck to you all\
