After registering my domain name and setting up URL forwarding from my domain name registrar to my static IP address assigned by my ISP, my IP address appears in the address bar after a link from my home page is clicked. When one first goes to my website the user sees just that: http://www.mywebsite.com/, however, once one of my links from within is clicked, the IP address precedes the link page, http://123.456.789.012/link.asp What I would like displayed instead so that users do not think that they have been redirected to another site is the domain name before all links: http://www.mywebsite.com/link.asp I did a search on Google.com and found that others have encountered the same thing. When I have an active internet conenction, everything works fine. As soon as I am no longer connected, both http://localhost and http://laptop give me Page Cannot be Displayed errors.  - How to access my dynamic-IP-server in a reasonable way? Hello, I have a broadband connection to my PC. I'm running Windows XP Pro and have installed IIS. I want to be able to access the webserver in a convenient way. If I had had a static IP I could make a link or forward to this IP fronwww.myhomepage.com/local or whatever. Unfortunately, my ISP doesn't give me a static IP, that is, my IP will change about every day (while I shut-down my computer at night). If I had had an own domain to dedicate to my web-server, I could have used one of the "dynamic DNS-services" avaliable. However, I don't want to devote a domain to my web-server, I just want to be able to reach it in a reasonable way - maybe from a link on my webpage at www.myhomepage.com, or as a forward from www.myhomepage.com/local/. Now the question is - how do I do this? With the "dynamic DNS-services" I would have some program determining my IP. Something like that sounds nice (except that I don't want to devote an entire domain to it). Is there any service where I can install such a program and then always have a link to my current IP at for example www.the-service-providers-name.com/myid/? That would solve my problem.  - several servers for Web Hosting I am writting an online web hosting service, for this I have 6 web servers (IIS 5.0) and I want to create sites on them whenever a registered user asks for a new domain. I use System.DirectoryServices.dll for creating a new site on a specified server, but I want to have access to this site from all 6 web servers not only the original server. I tried to use IISSync script but it is not a good idea because whenever a customer changes a property of e.g one of his virtual dorectories, the script should be ran to syncronize the 6 web servers.  - Can't add FPSE 2000 to a new web site. OK, ok, I know this has been a problem since sometime in 2002 but I still haven't found out how to fix it. I seem to be running v 4.0.2.4426 of Frontpage Server Extensions on a number of sites on my W2K Server, IIS5.0 web server. I've never had a problem before, and all of a sudden the Configure Server Extensions option is missing from the context menu, and the Server Extensions property tab is missing from the sites in question. FPSE still seems to be functioning on the existing sites, it's only newly created sites that are having this problem. I'm wondering if migrating that server to AD, and/or installing the SUS tool on that server caused these problems. It's getting really frustrating. I've seen some chatter about creating a new admin account, thinning out it's group membership and then using this account to create the new site - but this doesn't work. I saw a reference to a KB article to fix this - but the ID was invalid. Does anyone know what caused this problem and how to fix it. Not having FPSE installed causes problems with Interdev running on my development workstations.  - Application_Restarting 0149 Error Hello All, Sometimes, the application is displaying a ASP_0149 Application Restarting error. Its so random. All the articles based on this issue talks about AntiVirus Software scanning the global.asa. But unfortunately the system has no antivirus software installed on it. The only thing noticeable on that system is that the virtual directories use UNC share pointing to a fileserver. I was wondering if this would cause a problem.  - Cannot get to http://localhost I have installed IIS 5.1 on XP pro, but get "Web Page Unavailable Offline" when I try to browse http://localhost when I'm offline (I have a dial-up internet connection). When I'm online IE treats the request as a search and displays a results page. I have verified that IIS admin is running.  - Server Extensions problem We have IIS 5.0 on our Window 2000 Server. The default website have server extensions 4.0 applied. Several other websites. One of them somehow got server extension 5.0 instaled. Now when we check the extensions on that website we get the error message: "The server administration programs and the server extensions on the web server are not compatible. The program is too old to be used with this server." It won't let us remove the extensions from this website either. I read that this is caused by the extension not being compatible with the IIS MMC. How did this website get a different version of the server extensions than the rest? How can I either remove 5.0 and get 4.0 installed OR make it work with 5.0?  - Basic and Windows Integrated security issue I have a folder on our site that we want to secure. The information is not confidential but we want "unknown" users to have to put a user and pass in to access teh files in the folder. However if the user is logged on to the domain we don't want to be prompted. I removed Anonymous access in IIS and have basic and Windows Integrated turned on. I removed the IUSR account from the NTFS permissions of the folder. I created a group and gave it read rights to the folder. In that group are various users from our domain and a user created on the local web server. The idea is that we would distribute this local user and pass to people on the net that would need access to the page. When I access the web site with the netbios name(http://servername) all works fine, I (being in the group) can get to the pages with out being prompted for a log on. Other users without access are prompted, if I put the local user and pass they get to the pages. However, if I access the site with the dns domain name. I get prompted for a password. I also get prompted if I access the site with the ip address. If I type my user (domain\user) and pass in, then I get access. We would like to bypass the logon if we are logged into the local network. Anyone know why it only works if I use the netbios name. MS VS.Net is not exactly cheap, and there is not even a decent manual or setup guide anywhere. I would be so grateful for any pointers to a decent guide to setting up ASP.net in VS.Net v.2002 using IIS 5.1 (The software is installed and re-installed properly.  - cant get IIS Access DB asp pages working on desktop Can anyone help? I've got IIS running on my desktop machine which is win XP Pro. I know its working because the welcome message popped up telling me its working and to put my files in itnetpub/wwwroot folder. So I did that with a DB driven site running asp pages. I've created the DSN and linked this to my DB but when I browse the file in IIS I get a message about not finding the Data Source AND no default driver found. The really frustrating thing is that I've got the whole thing working OK on my laptop (which again has XP Pro) with exactly the same DB driven site, so I know I've got it right on the laptop. I've tried matching the settings but that hasn't work. Some previous help files from Microsoft had mentioned permission problems i.e. I didn't has permission to read my own server, however I am logged in with admin rights.
