    - Trying to move posts from NNTP virtual server to another Hi, I have the following setup: news.domain1.com/supportgroup news.domain2.com/othergroup I want to move all of the posts from domain1.com/supportgroup to domain2.com/othergroup, and then mark the domain1 group as read only, so I can continue working in the domain2 group normally. To do this I set up the domain2 nntp server, and created a new group. I then stopped both domain1 and domain2, copied all of the posts from the domain1 group to the domain2 group, and then right-clicked on domain2 and chose Rebuild Server. After Rebuild Server finishes running, I check in teh domain2 folder, and all of the nws files are now labeled nws.bad, and if I start the server and pull messages I don't get anything back. Has anyone ever successfully moved posts from one nntp server to another? I've been digging through google for over an hour without a single hit on moving an nntp server.     - IIS 6.0 FTP Hi all, I have a question regarding the IIS 6.0 on the FTP feature. Can I create different access level/rights for the users eg: admin group, manager group.? is the FTP secure enough? i know i can do user isolation and force user to enter user name and password, but are the username and password encrypted? what can i do to secure it? any PC running on windows can access the FTP site right? by just using the IE?     - Virtual Directories for Web Site I have 3 web sites on one server and I would like to keep all the images in one folder and then access the same folder from the other web sites 'virtually'.     - ODBC Logging problem in IIS 6 I am having a problem setting up ODBC logging in IIS 6.     - Revert from XML to ASP 2.0 Hi Everyone, I just took over my company's webserver and while I've been building ASP/VBScript pages forever, server administration is a new thing for me. So, my problem is that I have a Win2K server running IIS 5 and my predecessor had created a series of web pages using some unknown XML software solution and also installed MSXML 4.0 to manage the doctypes. Now, I can't run anything other than HTML pages under this. I want to revert back to ASP 2.0 for a while and then scale forward when our system is ready as a whole. Does anyone know how to do this?     - IIS 5.0 - WWW Publishing service keeps stopping under load Running IIS 5.0 on Widows 2000 Adv Server, quad processor 700MHz each, 4GB RAM, ColdFusion 5.0 set to 20 simultaneous requests. Our WWW Publishing service keeps stopping under load. For us load is about 7500 page views per hour, many of which contain database queries that can take up to 2 minutes to complete but which usually complete in under a minute. A day after analysis shows that the concurrent users count starts a steady climb from the normal 45 to a peak of 145 - 270 over a period of 2 - 3 hours. Somewhere during the range between 145 - 270 the WWW Publishing service stops. As soon as we restart the service our concurrent user count resumes around the 45 level and stays there . . . Our total CPU resources used rarely goes above 20%, never goes above 30%. Our RAM usage never goes above .5GB out of the 4GB. Any ideas what might be causing the WWW Service to stop?     - webpage redirect I need to redirect my website, ie: Katie.com so that it can connect to the website BigKatie.com, without katie.com visitors knowing they have been redirected. I have a win2k server as my name server and exchange server, and my webserver is on another nt4 computer. katie.com is pointed to my nameserver, which redirects it to my web server.     - .shtml pages throw 404 error I have several websites running under IIS 5.0 on and NT box. Sites running asp pages work fine, but sites that are serving up html pages with .sthml includes throw a 404 error.     - Problem with custom mapping I created a virtual directory for my web application. I use a custom extension mapping (maps to aspnet_isapi.dll). The access permissions etc. seem to be correct. I followed the manual carefully (not that much to do after all). I get "404 Not found" for the mapped pages, but my application works fine on two other machines (with win2k), where the virtual dir config seems to be the same. What am I missing?     - "cannot find server" browsing localhost with no network connections available hi, i'm running win2003 server enterprise (3790), and its on a workgroup with a crossover cable. When the other machine on the workgroup is turned off, and when i am not online through the modem, IIS responds with "cannot find server" for any local requests. in summary: when no network connections of any sort are available, then i can't browse localhost. this is a bit of a pain if it's designed to be this way. can anyone shed some light on this issue? thanks in advance tim mackey.     - Upgrading IIS 4 to later version Hi, I have an IIS Server running on NT 4.0 (BDC) in a mixed 2000 Server environment. The 2000 Domain Controller and secondary are already in place. I would like to upgrade the NT 4.0 (BDC) to Windows 2000 and the IIS to a later version. IIS is running ASP and SSL.     - Installing IIS 4.0 I recently downloaded IIS 4.0 off of the Microsoft website for my Windows NT Exchange Server 5.5. When I try to run the install.exe file like I am told to do, it works just fine. But when it gets to the setup part of installing, it comes with multiple errors like cannot copy one or more files, or the mmcndmgr.dll file cannot be registered or modified.     - Index Server to Search Intranet I have code that uses IIS to search the intranet site upon a users request. I moved the intranet to a new server and now the search function does not work.     - no pages being served I am trying to host a website from home, www.marineservicecompany.co I have a box running Microsoft small business server 2003, which uses IIS 6 as the web-server softwareâ?¦which sits behind a cayman-netopia dsl routerâ?¦this router assigns ip address 192.168.1.1 to my server box, and I have correctly configured a â??pinholeâ?? on this router (port forwarding) for tcp port 80 to 192.168.1.1â? I have purchased a static ip from bellsouth, and it is applied to the router correctlyâ? I have full normal connectivity going out from the server box to the internetâ? In IIS, I have created a new website, done all the typical configuration things for it, like setting up anonymous access, set it for port 80, pointed the default directory to c:\inetpub\wwwroot (which is where my default.htm and all other webpage files are stored), the website ip is set to "all unassinged",etcâ? No matter what ive tried to do with this, I cannot get the webpage to come up from an external hostâ? Either by the domain name or the ip address entered into a browserâ?¦(when putting the ip address into a browser, i dont get anything... In fact, I was told by bellsouth that everything is setup correctly with the router, the pinhole port forwarding, and with their dns systemâ?¦they say the fact that when the ip address is entered into a webbrowser and nothing is returned, is indicative of something ive done wrong with the server or iis configuration, but I cannot determine whatâ? as info, i have removed the dns component of sbs2003, since im using my isp's dns system...and ive removed ISA so there is no firewall blocking issue.. when using the browser on the server, going to http://localhost i can see the website just fine and it is fully functional...     - Help with IISState Log File Hi I have successfully run IISState on my server this afternoon. It took about 5 minutes to execute and consumed about 23Mb of RAM. I am trying to find out why at certain random times throughout the day, (may be load related), my users report problems with viewing pages on my site. I have experienced it too and have run IIS State this afternoon during one such occasion. The problem is simply that the browser does not receive all of the desired HTML output of an ASP. On other occasions it could be almost 10hours apart. The symtpons of the iisfailure is - Cant serve any type of web content. ASP or HTML. - Cant load the IIS control panel from admin tools.     - Error when changing from worker process mode to Isolation mode Hi I have an application which is supposed to work under IIS 5.0 isolation mode. i installed it on a new windows 2003 server ,tested the application everything was fine but then i realized that i tested the app under the default worker process mode ( app works fine ).     - IIS 6 - Port 443 bindings Hello, I'm having windows server 2003 running IIS 6. I want to install an application that uses port 443(https). The application requires an IIS web site to be configured on port 80, and this application will use the 443 port on the same ip (this is a seperated application it doesn't need the 443 to be listened throw the iis). Another important thing to know is that on a diffrent ip I'm having a web site that needs the 443 port for SSL. I tried to configure it using the httpcfg command but I wasn't able. I noticed that because of the https that configured on a diffrent ip I wasn't able to exclude the 443 port on the other ip. I'll appricate any idea.     - Framework Install Hello, I am wanting to install the Framework on my IIS server. I am unable to use the Microsoft Update to download and install the framework and I am not able to find the framework itself on Microsoft's web site other then though the Windows Update. I do see, however, that there are Framework SDK's which suggest that it contains the framework, but it tells me that I must install the Framework Distributable. I am feeling uncomfortable with doin this on my server. Can you offer any suggestions? How do I find the version of IIS on my server? I had the same issues and fixed them by turning off the "Internet Connection Firewall" that ships with XP. For the newbies, right-click on "My Network Places," click on "properties," right-click on "Local Area Connection," click on "properties," click on the "Advanced" tab and uncheck "Protect my computer..blah blah blah."     - Trend C/S/M SMB on SBS2003 I have installed Trend Micro C/S/M SMB on SBS2003 but can not connect to the console - receive page not found error 404 1. I used port 8085 - which was not used by any other service (by doing netstat -an) 2. Web service extension lockdown is authorising service 3. Correct path exists Here are the steps I used with Installing Trend Micro Client/Server/Messaging SMB 1. (I use the Administrator account.) 2. Run setup 3. Enter the FQDN server.domain.local OR the IP of the SBS. I used internal IP 4. Install into IIS Virtual Web Site (NOT the default web site). 5. Used port 8085 for communication. 6. Deselected SSL. 7. Used Administrator account - using ISA so I entered proxy info and port 8. Entered activation code 9. Accept the server/client port. 10. Accept the client installation for the SBS (installs the Officescan client on the server) 11. The install proceeds, then open the admin console - then fails to open I checked web service extensions - which are allowing the files in the correct folder. I checked the persmissions on the OfficeScan directory - no problems with access Internet Explorer is set to bypass local domain and addresses to bypass proxy The services are started.     - Pages not loading correctly Hi All, I am running a Win 2k (sp4) server which runs our IIS services and nothing else. One of our sites (my company's intranet site) is taking a long time to load (5 - 10min). If you stop the page loading and start it again, it usually loads immediatley. I have restarted the IIS services and restarted the server a couple of times which fixes the problem for a while, but the problem keeps reoccuring. The web pages have not changed for a couple of weeks. There does not appear to be any errors in the event logs. Does anyone have an ideas about where I can look to solve this problem? I am also having a problem with one of our sites on the same IIS server. It just does not load, even though the code has not changed lately. Any ideas? Thanks for any help you may be able give me!     - iis help I am running a Win2000 server and I just installed asp.net so that I could use the feathers from 2003 frontpage (database wizards). Even If I create a blank.aspx page to test I keep getting a runtime error. I tried a basic ASP with no problems.     - IIS XP Pro - can't debug ASP I am following the instructions for configuring IIS for Web Project development with Visual Studio 2002 outlined in SETUP\WEBSERVER.HTM. Everything appears ok I install vs.net 2002 and create a web project but I cannot debug it I get a message the server does not support debugging ASP.NET or ATL applications. I notice that there is no user ASPNET (aspnet_wp) installed. .net version is 1.1.4322.573 - xp pro is up to date I tried vs 2003 and it won't even create a web project. I have this problem on two XP Pro machines but all is copasetic on 2000 Pro (a sloooow machine) and of course I can't install 2000 pro over xp pro.     - IIS Server.CreateObject issue.. I'm new to IIS, so apologies if this is a silly question due to my lack of knowledge. I have encountered the following issue on 2 of the 3 webservers I'm working with. The problem is that the servers are unable to serve the default localstart.asp page that is installed with IIS. I've traced the problem down to the following ASP code: Dim WshShell, ver Set WshShell = Server.CreateObject("Wscript.Shell") On Error Resume Next ver = 0 ver = WshShell.RegRead("HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Printers\DisableWebPrinting") The exact problem is with the CreateObject statement, IIS states that it can't create the object. I have tried similar code in a straight .vbs file and it worked fine. So it looks like IIS can't create the Wscript.Shell object. My third server has no problem and I can't find any differences between the configurations of IIS between servers. As I've done very little to alter things on the servers I'm guessing that this is probably a common problem and I would like to understand what's going on here.     - IIS 6 keeps hanging/crashing I have just added a new web server running Windows 2003 Web Edition. I used the migration tool to migrate all of the sites from IIS 5 on another server to the new server. Now the new server IIS service keeps crashing or hanging and must be restarted in order to get working agian. There is nothing in the system logs.     - IIS 5.0 + ASP.NET Well, I have win2k, ms.net framework1.1 and IIS 5.0 istalled and asp.net-based web site. Web-based application runs the script that operates a local system service. The problem apears when I start sending parameters thoroght the web-form on the site to system service. The error is "Access is disable".
