    - IIS Admin Service wont start I have recently reinstalled IIS on an XP machine because for one reason or another, it wasnt running.     - Can't install IIS from XP Pro CD I am trying to install the IIS server from the Windows XP Pro CD. When it gets to the copying files part of install it says to make sure the "Windows XP Professional CD SP1" is in the drive. It is not letting me select it from any other location either. I have heard from someone saying the maximum connections is about 20. Is it true? I am confusing about what the number 20 is standing for?     - New IIS Install - Upgrade from XP Home Addition I recently upgrade from XP Home addition to XP professional. IIS appears to be installed correctly and is up and running however, under my start->program options I do not have Administrative Programs as an Option.     - PUT method returns 501 error IIS 5 / Windows 2000 - PUT method returns 501 (Not Implemented) error. We are using URLScan to set IIS properties. We enable PUT with URLScan but still get 501 error. Directory permissions appear to be correct (write enabled). Documentation says server should return 501 if it does not understand or implement any of the content-* (e.g., Content-Range) headers. This may be related but we are unable to find info on IIS headers. Related clue. PUT was working on this server. Installed a 3rd party dll to enable uploading files using asp. The dll worked fine. It appears, however, that the PUT method stopped working after installation of this dll. Not sure if this is related, but it's about the only recent change done on the server. Thanks for any help.     - ASP TimeOut limit Hi, I set ASP TimeOut in IIS Manager Properties to 2 seconds and used Server.ScriptTimeOut to check that it is in fact =2, but the script that "ran" for about 10 seconds.     - IIS6 works on LAN not on Internet Hello, I just replaced a NT4 server with a 2003 server and the two websites I am hosting off of it no longer work from the internet. If I am on my lan they work fine. computers on the lan use a local dns server that maps the website names to the lan ip address. Offsite using the internet I get a page cannot be displayed error. The IP address for both the Internet and lan are the same as the NT4 box. Other services, such as the e-mail server, are working fine. I don't think it is a DNS problem.     - SMTP doesn't send emails Pls help! I can't seem to send emails using the local SMTP Virtual Server that resides at the IIS 5 server. I thought CDO is simple. Would any lockdown like IISLockdown or other registry configuration prevented me from doing so. I tried so many options. I tried ASP... cannot. IE returned Access Denied. Another code returned Permission Denied. I followed a few of MS articles, including manually putting a text file to the Pickup folder (file remained without being sent for queue), article to test SMTP Services Manually (KB:286421), the message provided was message queued (somthing like that. But when I look at the mailroot, the messages were in the BadMail with the following message: Unable to deliver this message because the follow error was encountered: "This message is a delivery status notification that cannot be delivered.". When I try to install IIS a req is made for install components on service pack 1, which I don't have [physically] but it is installed on my system.     - localhost barely ever responds I'm trying to set up a site. But my localhost doesn't respond most of the time. The only time it really reasponds is if I restart my computer or if I end the inetinfo.exe process (even then it only works a couple time before it stops responding). I can't access it when trying to create web projects on vb.net, dreamweaver or when trying to access it from my browser. I just keep getting a "Page cannot be displayed" Page.     - Perl in IIS 6.0 - File permissions? Hi, I followed the instructions in imbored.biz but am still getting the 'returning a complete set of HTTP headers' error. We use tight file permissions on our web server (i.e. anonymous and process account is denied to the whole system except for the web directories and some system files). I ran Filemone while I was running the .pl file and I noticed that perl.exe is getting Access Denied on accessing wsock32.dll in the windows\system32 folder.     - unable to stsrt IIS Hi there I am using Windows XP Professional and I installed IIS components in that. I can able to see the ststus "manually stsrted" in the Administative tools(Services).But the IIS is not at all working. I am running XP Pro I'm not sure when this started. I don't make changes very often. I probably haven't been into the snap in for a couple of weeks. I can't think of anything I have done since then that is likely to cause any trouble. I have installed a few Windows updates, I suppose. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't help.     - Having problems with IIS I just tried to view a page that I had earlier on my own personal web site and was not able to view it. I then tried just plain old localhost and was again not be able to view anything. I then tried to stop and re-start IIS. When trying to restart IIS I received an error message reporting that it could not be restarted. I decided to uninstall and reinstall IIS5 from Add/Remove Programs menu. While I uninstalled, computer crashed. NOw it looks IIS5 is not installed.     - iis hangs on startup + windows shared section memory allocation Hi, I have a server with 2 1.4 GHz processors and 2 GB of RAM running Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 (server name is THRUSH). I have installed Oracle Forms and Reports and I am trying to run 6 services out of this Oracle install. 2 for TEST, 2 for PROD, and 2 for TRAIN. I cannot get all 6 to run at the same time and I am not too sure why because I have the same environment set up on another server that has 1/2 the resources (this server name is WOLF). When I attempt to start the 6th service I get an error that the service could not start becuase it did not respond in a timely manner. However, I can get all 6 to run on THRUSH if I shutdown IIS but then it hangs on startup. Also I needed to increase the setting under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\SubSystems\Windows. I had to change Windows SharedSection=1024,3072,512 to Windows SharedSection=1024,3072,1024. I cannot get the 3rd value any higher then 1024 on THRUSH otherwise IIS hangs on the re-boot. Errors I see are: The IIS Admin Service service hung on starting. The FTP Publishing Service service depends on the IIS Admin Service service which failed to start because of the following error: After starting, the service hung in a start-pending state. The Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) service depends on the IIS Admin Service service which failed to start because of the following error: After starting, the service hung in a start-pending state. The World Wide Web Publishing Service service depends on the IIS Admin Service service which failed to start because of the following error: After starting, the service hung in a start-pending state. I seem to be having a little bit of problems with the ASP.Net services, it seems to run fine for a few days then it seems that the threads are not dropping and then the asp.net services just stop working. First I installed it (6.0) through control panel by adding windows component. It went through OK.
