Good Day,

I am trying to setup a ssl ftp site for secure communication to our bank.
My initial setup was to a local directory and that worked fine, However, for
the production environment I need to utilize a virtual directory on another
server. I setup a file share on the destination server to recieve the files
and gave permissions to the folder to my ftp client. I set the
authentication to the directory to the specified users (from pass though
auth) When I test the mapping and permissions everything appears to be fine.
When I try to connect however, I get "530 User cannot log in, home directory
inaccessible" I could really use some assistance in troubleshooting this
issue.

Note that this is using Microsoft's FTPS with IIS 7.

Thanks

More info...

I can get this to work if I change the FTP Authorization to "Allow Any" The
issue appears to be permissions related. Unfortunately I need to enforce the
permissions on this directory. What permissions are required to support a
virtual directory on another server?

Hi Steve,

First of all, please ensure Basic authentication is enabled on the FTP
site. It 's expected that authorization will fail if only anonymous access
is allowed.

Also according to the error message: "530 User cannot log in, home
directory inaccessible", please check if the FTP user account has at least
Read NTFS permission on the FTP site's root directory. Every qualified FTP
user need has access on FTP site root.

If the permission appears to be correct but the problem still persists,
please gather the FTP site's log files and send them to me for reviewing.
The default log path is: \inetpub\logs\logfiles\FTPSVC[n]. My email:

wjzhang@online.microsoft.com (please remove online.)

I look forward to your update.

Have a great day.

Sincerely,
