tried to create a self ssl using selfssl.exe
i receieve the Error:
"Error opening site metabase key: 0x80070003"

I tested in my windows xp PC and it worked just fine.

Error opening site metabase key: 0x80070003 RESOLUTION by Mike

I had this same problem and it turned out to be a simple fix for me - I was
not using the correct site id - I was simply trying 1 or 2, since I have two
sites on the server. The identifier you should use is listed in your list of
web sites in your Management console under Identifier. When your using
selfssl use the /S: followed by the identifier listed for your site in the
management console. Good luck.

RE: Error opening site metabase key: 0x80070003 RESOLUTION by ShawnMelton

That was exactly the issue. According to Microsoft site ID 1 is reserved for
the Default Web Site at the time it is originally created. If you delete
that site and recreate it then its site ID as with any other site is a hash
of the site name plus an increment if that site ID already exists. So always
look for the Identifier column but know that it is not available in older
versions of IIS.
