    - File not found Denied due to Lockdown Policy 404 0 2 error Web server was up for 19 days and all of a sudden the client side application stopped working. the Web log shows 404 0 2 which is "File not found Denied due to Lockdown Policy". When the servers were rebooted the problem cleared If some group policy been pushed down from the domain; normally a reboot would not clear it. Is there a patch that I could not find?     - Connection to IIS 6-server is sometimes interrupted Hi! Were using a Windows 2k3-machine with IIS 6.0 and SP1. The online shop on this machine is available via the IP adress for our customer to look at and for our developers to, yeah, develop^^. Sometimes, very sporadic, the firefox browser brings an error message, that the connection to the server has been interrupted. Then you need to press F5 and everything loads normally. The same on IE7 and from different PC's. Cause it isnt an error of the ePages-shop system itself, i think it has something to do with the IIS. Has anyone an idea? I've buy from a provider 3 domain with redirect to 62.62.62.62: www.society1.com www.society2.com www.society3.com In my server i've: the default xxx.domain.local port 80 Then i created another 3 web site where in any multi header i've insert www.society1.com port 80 www.society2.com port 80 www.society3.com port 80 But when i call any web site i see always the default xxx.domain.local Why the multi header doesn't select the right web site?     - IIS hangs every 36 hours, must reboot to restore Hello, I have II6 running on a new 2003 server with FrontPage extension installed. That's all that is running on the box (Dell PE 2900) except for Backup Exec. All patches up to date. The server hums along fine for about 36 hours then simply stops serving. Clients recieve page not available or connection reset depending on which browser is used. Simply stopping and restarting IIS doesn't fix the issue. I must reboot the server. I am now running the debug diagnostic tool in an attempt to capture any hints as to what is the issue. Anybody have experience with this? How can I fix? There are no errors in the log files.     - IIS & NLB All, I have a sever issue with IIS & NLB. I have dual NIC's with NIC1 on each PC a part of the cluster. In sharing IIS, when using the PC name for http access to the page, it works fine. However, when I use the NLB cluster hostname, for PC1 it works, for PC2 it prompts me for a login/pass and this never works, no matter what info I enter. Please help.     - server 2003 IIS problem Hi it looks like there is a problem with IIS not refreshing properly. It is on a live server so not quite sure how to fix it. The problem is that when you add a folder to C:\inetpub\wwwroot it does not show up in IIS under default website. I need to get this working for Crystal Reports vs 10 embedded with .net to work correctly. There are several dependency folders that need to be set up in IIS but it is not refreshing properly to display them. For example aspnet_client\......... does not show up in IIS although it is located at the physical location C:\inetpub\wwwroot . Currently using Windows server 2003.     - Move Default Website from C to D Good Afternoon, I hope everyone is doing good. We're running IIS6 on Win Server 2003 R2. I'm trying to move my default website and admin site to Drive D. It was installed on C. When I looked at the properties under default website and selected a different location, none of the files or folders moved so I switch it back.     - IIS, PerlIS.dll, and perl scripts. Hi all, I've installed ActiveState Perl 5.8.8 to work along side IIS and we are using perlis.dll as the parser. What is happening is that when ever we view a perl script we only see the html code printed out. I'm told that it is a result of result of perlis.dll sending default CGI HTTP headers and that we should turn them off, and that this is possibly done via a registry setting.     - Hosting 2 sites on one server I know this has been discussed before, but I'm having some problems. I've got Windows Server 2003 with IIS 6.0, with 1 public IP address. I've got one site being hosted already, it's been up and running for a while. I've gon into the IIS screen and added a new website. I set the original site to port 81, and the new site to port 80 - so that I can get the new site started. It's still not working though. Yesterday I set the domain registration site to point to my site server. Originally it was still directing the domain to it's own site. As of this morning, when I tried opening the homepage, it simply brings up the default IE screen that says 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'. I'm not sure if there's something I've got set wrong on my end, or if perhaps the domain registration site still hasn't successfully redirected the domain to my hosting server. At first a have give my server the following tasks: * Application Server (IIS) * Remote Access/VPN Server * Streaming Media Server I did installed everything by the book and my websites worked perfect and quick! BUT now onces or twices a day my server won't respond to any request.     - Installing CA Certificate Failure on IIS - IISDiag.exe Reports No Private Key Installed I've been troubled with an error that had me stumped and thought I'd share. Our company received a certificate from a trusted CA. Upon installation, the certificate didn't work and appeared to not have a private key. We followed all installation instructions (which really aren't technically difficult) with no avail. Everything looked fine when looking at the trust chain of our certificate from our private certificate to the intermediate and then to the trusted root authority. We just simply couldn't connect to the web server on 443 (SSL) and saw that there are an entry in the IISDiag.exe report about not having a valid private key installed. The solution presented itself when we investigated the (user) personal certificate folder in the certificate manager. All the while we'd been messing with the local machine personal folder. At some point during testing someone installed another private key certificate to the user personal certificate folder. When we removed this certificate, the local machine personal certificate private key was then able to be "seen" by the system.     - Need Help IIS5 & Active Server pages Background: I have been tasked with designing & deploying a fairly simple web site for my volunteer Fire dept. to our county owned web server (as a non job related side project). I developed the pages on one of my companies IIS6 based web servers. The pages are aspx based pages but in reality the only real "active" content they are using is the "include file" & some cascading style sheets. Every thing works fine on my design environment. Issue: When I send the files to the county IT center to be deployed, my menus (include files) do not display but the rest of the page is fine.     - Installing Certificate Services I have two servers that I'm having a problem installing Certificate Services. Both are running Server 2003, one of them SP1 and the other other SP2. Both have IIS installed; the SP2 one is supporting 12+ domain web sites. When trying to install Certificate Services, I get the following message at the end of the installation: "Internet Information Services (IIS) is not installed on this computer. Certificate Services Web Enrollment Support will be unavailable until IIS is installed". I've checked IIS and then ran "certutil -vroot" to try and resolve the issue and get the following message; I can find no reference to the 80070003 code returned. Web Virtual Root Create Error File Share Already Exists CertUtil: -vroot command FAILED: 0x80070003 (WIN32: 3) CertUtil: The system cannot find the path specified. My best guess is that because neither of these machines has the original default web site at Identifier 1 (W3SVC1), the Certificate Services Installer is failing when trying to configure the Web Enrollment Site.     - Will IIS work in this SAN arrangement? I would like to utilize our existing SAN to host IIS' web content. In other words, put inetpub on the SAN storage and hook the IIS box up to the SAN via Fibre Channel HBA. This is not an issue. The question is, eventually we will have more than one IIS server...this extra IIS server will host the exact same sites and content, it will be for the purposes of running NLB for load-balancing/redundancy. To save from having to sync separate inetpub folders via a sync tool like DoubleTake or the like for both IIS servers, I'd like to just point IIS on the two IIS boxes to the same back-end inetpub folder on the SAN.     - FTP server "attacks" help. Hi, I run a FTP server on IIS 5.1 (in XP) and lately my logs show that a wide range of IPs have been accessing the ftp account through an anonymous log on. I know htat I can close down anonymous access to the FTP server but I wonder if there is another way to counter act this? I also wonder whether anyone can shed light on why and what the people are trying to do to or with my computer.     - A strange error in FTP on IIS6 and connection through ftp client Hy Guys I've a really strange error while trying to connect to a remote server of my own via CuteFTP. I get "Can't read from control socket. Socket error = #10054" error message. Just after logged in, while cute try to browse the folder list. It's not a login trouble, as you see, nor firewall. I underline that I'm able to log in to the server, and a log analyze report successfull connection to the server. Using the ms-dos ftp I could login and browse the folder without matter. The strange thing is that this server has 4 IP address and if I use the original (first address) in the list I could access, and browse the folders. If I change the IP to the second or third or fourth address (correctly setupping the firewall too) I get that message. I don't think this is a problem of passive mode. using the adsutil to query the service with the /MSFTPSVC/PassivePortRange the results is no passive port setup. So they doesn't exist also for the main address. I then tried to switch the address order, to see if that solve the problems. But same as before. I'm not able to realize the problem.     - Hosting a website from my home I am currently using a web hosting company, which is hosting my SQL Server/ASP.Net website. I think it would be an interesting, challenging project for me to move the hosting to an extra machine I have at home, and host it here. Can anyone help me with this? Poking around online, people say that it's better to stay with a hosting company due mostly to security concerns. The argument goes something like this: hosting is cheap enough and there are massive security threats everywhere that a hosting company is better suited to deal with. The best way for me to do that is by doing, so I'm willing to take the risks. These are the steps I've followed to try to get WebDAV to work: 1. Opened the IIS Manager, and made sure that the WebDAV extension in the Web Service Extensions was Allowed. 2. Created a new user account as a member of the Users group. 3. Created a new folder in my D:\ drive, called 123, and in the security, added the previously created user with Full Control. 4. Opened the IIS Manager, and created a virtual directory with Read/Write/Browse access pointing to the previously created directory. But if I try to access this directory using IE6 in Windows 2000 by clicking File -> Open, checking the Open as Web Folder, IE6 reports "Internet Explorer could not open <url> as a Web Folder. Would you like to see its default view instead?" Interestingly, if I try to use BitKinex to view the WebDAV directory, the log reports that IIS sends back 501 Not Implemented in response to the PROPFIND HTTP verb.     - IIS crash/hangs Hi, I am running a Windows 2003 Web Edition server with IIS 6 installed. Every now and then the server crashes and no matter what I do it will not resume serving pages. The only way to get IIS back online is to reboot the server. In the error logs all I can see is; A process serving application pool 'plesk(default)(pool)' failed to respond to a ping.     - Need help getting a simple file listing to show with HTTP I know this is simple to do so I must me missing something. I have a directory on the D drive (not wwwroot) that I want to share on the web. The whole directory needs anonymous access with its own dedicated IP that I already have. The system is a hosted server and I need HTTP and FTP access to the directory. I have FTP but can't get the HTTP to list the directory contents. Is there a HOW-To someplace? David.     - Help! (Repeat Post) Possible to bypass security for Windows Media files? Hi All, I am posting this for the second time, and would really appreciate your help. I have some wmv files that are published on a publishing point (mms:// www.mydomain.com/123.wmv) using WMS. I also have an IIS server with HTML that points to some of these Windows Media Files. The HTML file "embeds" the video in the web page. Now, only logged in users are supposed to see these Windows Media files. This means that the user's session is checked and he is then allowed to view the embedded-video page if he is logged in. However, if one user logs in, he can still do a "view source" and see the actual URL of the Windows Media file - i.e. the publishing point. He can then go on to distibute the URL (mms://www.mydomain.com/123.wmv) and anyone can open Windows media player directly to view this file. How do I prevent this from happening? I wanted to know if there is a way to "hide" the actual URL of the video such that the HTML shows mms://www.mydomain.com/sessionidad234wet46y66. Would this be possible? If this is possible, how can I do it? If the above is not possible, is there another way to achieve the same result? i.e. What if I were to use http and NOT mms. Would it possible to have the URL as HTTP://www.mydomain.com/sessionidad234wet46y66. (to obfuscate the actual URL of the file and prevent direct access)? Would using windows media meta-files help? The issue, however, is that I dont want the files to be opened in windows media player. I want it embedded in the web page. Please help! Thanks in advance!     - Basic and Windows Integrated Info Ver 6.0 Using IIS in relationship to OWA users can send their network user ID and password via Basic Authentication. I am also using Entrust SSL Certificates for added security. Sharepoint has been introduced and we are allowing user to access their Calendars via an OWA link. Users also sign into the SharePoint space with their network user ID and password. Sharepoint is using Kerberos. The issue is that IIS is set for Basic and SharePoint requires Integrated Windows Authentication otherwise the user must sign in to the OWA client within SharePoint although they are signed into SharePoint with the same credentials. My question is: Can Basic and Integrated Windows authentication be selected in IIS and, if so, will it still work for OWA users not logged into SharePoint?     - Internet Explorer Randomly Stalling on forms We just moved web servers, from a Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 with IIS 6. Right now, when you submit a POST form on the website, it will behave randomly. Sometimes, it goes through, no problems. Other times, the forms seem to time out. This _only_ happens in IE. In Firefox, everything has been fine so far, which is quite perplexing. Forms that transmit greater amounts of data seem to have the error much more frequently. It's so bad that it's practically crippled our content management system. Checking the webserver's logs, it looks like a 400 error is generated. There are two main forms that this seems to be happening on. One writes to a Microsoft Access database, the other writes to an SQL database. It doesn't seem to be a permissions error, and the ODBC connections we have set up seem to be fine. I'm thinking it's an IIS issue. We had a previous issue with our content management system's pages returning the wrong SERVER_NAME variable, but I finally fixed that with an edit to the Metabase. I'm really running out of ideas on how to fix this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't understand why this would happen randomly and only in Internet Explorer. I was able to copy the metabase over from one server to another
without much trouble... however I do have a question now - all the IIS
sites on the new (target) server are using the source iusr account -
does that matter at all? When I try to apply the new server iusr to
the sites I am immediately prompted for a username / password. When I
flip it back all is fine.
