For networking reasons I have just changed the name of my PC. Eventually I
got the network working.

Today I opened FrontPage and went to do some work on a web I am building and
disaster. I cannot make any changes to any pages, I get the error:

Server error: Cannot open file "c\inetpub\wwwroot\[page name]" for writing.

It has to be some kind of permissioning problem, but I have no idea what it
is or more importantly how to solve it. If anyone has any ideas please let
me have then - urgently.

Many thanks,

Paul Smith

Haul out your CD rom of Windows, uninstall IIS and reinstall IIS.

FrontPage server extenions DO NOT LIKE you changing the computer name.

As I recall, that was all that was needed and the webs themselves were
unharmed. (Still, you should make a backup of the files first.)

Just changing the system name won't do this. But check FPSE
permissions in IIS an the NTFS permissions on the files/folders. Make
sure the account you're using has at least Modify.
