    - iis / frontpage probs Hi All I have a problem I will post in both here and FP groups. This was working fine..then stopped, as far as I am aware no one did anything to make it stop. Have a Intranet, "Default Web Site" under iis4, also a sub web from that called nboard which is a notice board that people post to, it uses the FrontPage server extensions, as does the main web. The problem is that if someone tries to post, it comes up with the nobots thing saying that no fp extensions are installed when they are, you can search for posts and the search option works, which I assume uses fp extensions to search posts ? why cant people post, I am a bit puzzled now as it was ok, the main web bit is fine.     - Error delivering (ASP) - IIS 5.1 Win2k CDO.Message Hi there Context: ASP VBScript IIS 5.1 Windows 2000 server (public internet server) SMTP service installed I'm having a problem with message delivering sending email using CDO.Message. The error I'm getting after a few minutes is: "This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification. Unable to deliver message to the following recipients, due to being unable to connect successfully to the destination mail server. email@domain.com " email@domain.com is an example... the email that comes up is an valid email address on a valid domain. What it seems to me is that SMTP is trying to connect directly to destin domain (in this example domain.com) but the email server for that domain is refusing the connection, obviously.     - IIS6 / Loadbalance on Same drive Hi I have currently 2 Windows 2003 Servers running IIS6. They are loadbalanced and each one has the web-files for it's own. What i want to do, is to add a diskarray and mount the same drive (web-drive) on both servers. So i just have all files on one place. Question, can IIS support this?     - CDONTS - is it automatically installed? I am running IIS5 and I can't seem to get a script to run using CDONTS. It is a basic Form to Mail script. It gets through the script and goes to my redirect page (which is the last thing in the code. But I don't receive the email that I have sent to myself. I can't help but think that the server is not running CDONTS. Although I thought I would have received an error when it got to the CDONTS code if it was not installed. So, after all that, my question is Does IIS5 automatically have CDONTS or is it a separate installation. If I need to do it separately then can anyone tell me how.     - asp page cann't display on web browser Hi, I am having trouble to display asp page on my web browser. here is my environment, win2000 with IIS 5. this is our external webserver open through www.     - IIS 6 corrupting the metabase (permissions) We are evaluating upgrading to IIS 6. We have deployed one IIS 6 server in our environment and we seem to be having a problem with IIS 6 munging permissions. All of the web servers in our array are IIS5/2000, they all have 300 sites on them that are serving content from a NetApp filer. The switch in front of the web servers is load balancing the servers. The problem with IIS 6 is that after setting up all the sites and permissions, we can get all the sites up and running for a while, this server in the array performs well. After a few hours, the server starts throwing 500 errors on ALL pages. When you look in the metabase xml file, the UNC share passwords are blanked out. The UNC username is still there.     - How to STOP/Disconnect IIS? I have winxpPro and have configured remote desktop web connection. This is running the entire time I am connected, even though I clicked on Disconnect from IIS, by going to Start>Programs>Admin Tools>IIS: Right click on myPC and Disconnect. I only want this to be run when I enable it. How can I disable the IIS. Even though it's disconnected right now, I am still able to bring up the RDWC connection by just typing my IP address.     - mmc iis can't connect to localhost I am running iis 5.0 and frontpage 2002 on windows 2000. I have installed frontpage, the 2002 downloaded server extensions, and the borders fix. If I launch the mmc console to see the iis snap-in that I added to it, it keeps telling me: "Error connecting to (my default computername) The system cannot find the path specified. Do you wish to continue to attempt to connect to it in the future? Well I sure would, but I haven't got a clue how to define or where I define a path to the localhost so the system knows what it is. I've looked at a lot of online resources and haven't come across it either. Any clue or direction to head would sure be appreciated so I can get past this hurdle.     - Problems with IUSR and IIS 6 I have a asp application that runs fine when pulling remote data using ODBC on 2000 and NT 4 using the annonymous user account. We alsways have controlled the password. We are trying to run it on Server 2003 with IIS 6 and can't seem to get authenticated on the remote servers. The error I get when trying to connect to my remote data: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e37' [Microsoft][ODBC Visual FoxPro Driver]File 'attndset.dbf' does not exist. We have recieved this error in the past if the internet annonymous user account IUSR_machinename didn't have sufficient rights on the remote server to access the data. What has worked in the past is we have turned off the option for IIS to control the password and entered in our own password (you don't even have the option of allowing IIS to control the password in IIS 6 by default). We then created a domain account using the same username and password, then granted the domain account rights to the remote data. We have followed the same procedure on Server 2003 IIS 6 and it doesn't seem to work the same way. We have even tried changing the internet annonymous user to a existing domain account that has rights to the remote data and it doesn't work either, but does on 2000 Server and NT 4. I know its not my ODBC drivers, I can move my data to the Server 2003 where I have IIS 6 running and it will pull the data off the local machine. Thanks for any info anyone can provide! .     - Duplicate instances on IIS out-of-process Application Packages We have a particular website (say http://Myroot/website) which has Application Security set to High(Isolated) in IIS 5.0. However, in Component Services, we discovered that there are three duplicate instances of the IIS out of process Application packages for this site (IIS-- {Myroot//Root//website). All the three instances however have distinct CLSIds. To try removing the multiple instances, I tried modifying the Application Security. However only one of the instances gets removed - the other two act like orphaned entries. Is there any way that we can remove these duplicate instances thru IIS, since IIS controls the creation/removal of these app packages. These multiple instances are causing process locks on our production systems - Windows 2K Server Edition. Any help will be greatly appreciated.     - MSWC.tools I am using MSWC.tools in my ASP pages, on my Windows 2000 server everything works fine. I am trying to upgrade to 2003 and MSWC.tools will not work. The ASP page reads the following error: Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3' /catalog.inc line 14 Cannot create object I tried going into the registry editor and finding the MSWC.tools DLL but it does not come up when I search. I have also read somewhere the the IIS Resource Kit needs to be installed yet I can not find a IIS 6.0 Resource Kit, plus I didn't have to go through all of this with 2000. Please help! One of the admin scripts (mkwebdir.vbs) will create the virtual directory but I'm not able to change the Execute Permissions or Application Settings. Free download. :) Problem: When I try to access my server tools for localhost (Personal Web Manager and/or Internet Services Manager) something very strange is happening. I double click the icon to start either of these apps the hours glass appears momentarily (as with any program opening) and then it stops. But, no application opens. If I try again, same thing, over and over.. It seems that I can't regain control of my local server, and creating a .NET application is problematic since.urm..     - Mapping folders creates propagation issues I am running Windows 2000, SP4 with all of the latest patches. I have a load balanced environment on two servers, A & B. All of the files exist on server A and server B's IIS entry just points to a share on server A for all of the files. This creates an environment where the processing is load balanced, but the files are not. My problem is that occasionally, and inconsistently, when a new file is modified on Server A, Server B does not reflect this change. When this occurs, I stop and start the IIS entry on Server B and then the change is shown.     - IISRESET Is there a way to grant a local account the ability to restart the IIS services using IISRESET without making them a local administrator. The situation is that I have an application that we have built for some clients and we want to be able to tell them to create a local account that we can then use to stop and restart the Internet Services. We don't particularily want them to use a local administrator account. I know that I could use Group Policy to set all the individual services with rights to allow a non-administrator account the right to restart services, but I was hoping that I could do something directly with the IISRESET program and bypass all of that Policy stuff.     - ASP/ADO/AccessDB Refresh Problem Hey, I'm running a localhost web server...W2K with IIS 5.0, and I'm trying to use ASP/ADO to access my Access database. When I first load the page, everything works, but if i hit refresh (F5 or even Ctrl-F5), I get "page cannot be displayed" with the problem line of code being the database Open command (the starred line in the snippet below). If I press Refresh repeatedly, that doesn't help. After a minute or two, refreshing the page does access the database, but then the problem begins again with the very next refresh. I'm not sure where the problem is...in Access, ASP, ADO, IIS, or something important I left out of the HTML. Has anyone experienced this?     - Monitoring IIS Traffic I am running Win2K with IIS and for some reason the Web Server on IIS is causing an unusual amount of traffic/activity. I know this because the traffic/activity on my modem stops as soon as I stop the Web Server on IIS. And of course, the traffic starts up again once I re-start the Web Server.     - pop up window always asking me for password an username Panama 23 julio de 2003 I got problems with my IIS 5.1 in Win XP Professional. I reinstalled over and over again and I deleted inetpub, because I am trying to figure out what is going on. IIS don't want to open the site , actually my IP, When IntExplorer is trying to open the site or IP, a pop up windows came up asking me for a user and password, This is what I did, and it still doesn't work: 1- I uninstalled personal firewall and pop up killer 2- I uninstalled IIS(deleted file inetpub) and installed again IIS 5.1 3- I went to win Explore , mi pc and C: to inetpub and wwwroot and in properties I able both internet share 4- In Panel control at IIS 5.1 services window I Checked the server/name, web site default and localstart.asp and I double click properties I allow anonymous user, so IIS will control the access. 5- I went to computer administration window and I double click at users file to check internet guess and I don't see anything only a password that didn't wrote. 6- I went to user account of winXP to able a guess account. 7- At the end I deleted all the files inside of wwwroot and I built a testing page with front page saved as default.htm, and the pop up windows didn't come up asking me for a user and password, but the only problem is that I can only see the page (default.htm) in the server, not at clients. My guess is that Iuser has not enough rights. The "Dymo.DymoAddIn" is just a call to a call to the "Dymolbl.exe" file. And this file is giving a popup error on the server like: "Dymolbl.exe created an error and will be closed by Windows. You need to restart this program again. There will be an error created in the error-event logbook." In the EventLog you can read: The server {09DAFAE2-8EB0-11D2-8E5D-00A02415E90F} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout. Question: what do I have to do to prevent this error and let my asp page working correctly with an IUSER account. Has this to do with IWAM or DCOM or "out of process"... help!     - I got hacked! Yesterday I found out that I got hacked. A group called TaggerCrew (you might have heard from 'm) opened up my server (IIS6 on Server 2003) somehow and put a german spoken version of the movie Legally Blonde 2 on my webserver and put a link somewhere so that everybody could enjoy my bandwidth. I wouldn't mind this that much if it was at least a decent movie, but this exposure of bad taste in my server is just too much for me. I think they just brute forced themselfes into my FTP server (also IIS6) and upped the files they wanted to share with the world. I closed the FTP port and removed the files and since then I haven't had any trouble, but it would be nice to be able use my FTP again.     - Unable to download files from IIS This is the second post of my question. I use windows2000 and IIS. The excel files are stored in a directory under the web root. However, I am UNABLE to download those excel files by https://webserver/excelout/excelfile.xls An error messge is appeared when I start to download it to my local hard disk. The error messages are as below: 1) If I click save the file: Internet Explorer cannot download [excelfile.xls] from [WebserverName]. Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. 2) If I click open the file Microsoft Excel cannot access the file 'https://webserver/excelout/excelfile.xls' There are several possible reasons: The file name or path does not exist. The file you're trying to open is being used by another program. Close the document in the other program, and try again. The name of the workbook you're trying to save is the same as the name of another document that is read-only. Try saving the workbook with a different name. (And then the error message 1 is promped again.) I cannot save/open the excel in the above both cases. I have check that the file name and path exist. The file is not opened by another program because I tested it by creating a new excel file in that directory by myself and then try to download it. The excel file is not read-only.     - Authentication I have an application that accesses a database through a IIS 4.0 Server The IIS server requires NT authentication. The database contains a list of people that when chosen by the user returns a URL of another IIS 4 server to the application. The application accesses the 2nd IIS server and pulls the requested information. The sencond IIS server also uses NT authentication. All of the clients use the current name and password in the intranet zone. My problem is when I have the application loaded on a PC that is not in the domain a user must log into the 1st IIS server, then is prompted again when the application tries the access the second IIS server for the requested information.     - Component problem (ASP 0177) Hello, I'm having extremely weird problems with a COM component I wrote myself in perl. These are the facts: I have two machines running Windows 2000 SP4 with IIS5 with all the security patches installed. I wrote a COM .dll in perl and registered it on both machines. I tried to instantiate the component from WSH. That works perfectly on both machines. When I try to use ASP and Server.CreateObject, it only works on one of the machines. On the other, whenever I try to use it I get an ASP 0177 error "ClassFactory cannot supply requested class". Subsequent reloads change the error message to "Unknown Error". I have uninstalled and re-installed IIS. No effect. I have changed the GUIDs and ProgID on the DLL. No effect. I have given full permissions to Everyone on the DLL. No effect. I have tried using one of the DLL samples that comes with Perl Dev Kit. Doesn't work on the one machine, works on the other. I have tried using ADODB.Connection and Scripting.FileSystemObject.     - 2 Site, 1 Intranet; 2nd site cant get to it! I have a domain name for my domain, example: myDomain.com My company has two locations, each site has a Windows 2000 Domain Controller. In the first site, I set up an intranet through the IIS. So when someone types mydomain.com it gets to our intranet site. However in the second site, when someone types in mydomain.com, they get a dialog box asking for Name/PW/Domain. They type their information then get "page cannot be displayed." When I put the Admin Name/PW/Domain, I get the Local DC's IIS "LocalHost" start page. How can I get the second site to fwd to the Main Intranetsite? Do I need to program DNS or anything? ISAPI extensions get up to 2 times the number of threads as there is physical RAM in the system with a maximum of 256. So probably every modern (server) system gets 256 threads. Hi. We have just had to rebuild our IIS Server and previously we had a
certificate to enable SSL on one of our sites. I have tried to re-establish
this but not sure on the process. I have created the request and processed
it on our site and enabled the Certificate. If I go to our Certificate
server, enrollment tools and select install cert auth certificates it
doesn't list it here. If someone is able to help, it would be appreciated.
