 - IIS6 install RSA ACE/server and Agent Hello, We are having problems when we try to install the RSA ACE/server and agent on a Windows 2003 server. The installation seem to be right no problems.  - How to ensure all older versions of Front Page Server Extensions are completely removed from the server? Hello, I am running a windows 2003 server which was upgraded from 2000. When I look at my default web site, I see a tab which says Server Extensions (none of which are set up). I am assuming that this is an older version of Front Page extensions. How can I make sure that all old versions of Frontpage Server Extensions are completely removed from the system? When I look in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions folder, I see folders for: \40 \50 \60 Which I assume are all older versions. Thanks! Jim Tag: IIS Tag: 295070

 - Error Icons in Internet Services Manager I'm trying to setup OWA and I have error icons in front of my default public, Exchange and Exadmin folders.  - MSMDSRV.EXE using 99% of CPU post Win2k SP4 I just installed Windows 2000 SP4 on a SQL server machine. Upon rebooting the machine, MSMDSRV.EXE was consuming 99% of the CPU, and the machine was extremely slow responding to anything. Stopping the IIS Admin service would bring the CPU usage back down. Everything I have read regarding MSMDSRV.EXE seems to be related to SQL server, and the IIS. Uninstalling IIS will rectify the problem, but I need IIS also. Any ideas what is going on?  - IIS 6.0 Server Extensions I am trying to set up IIS 6.0 on a windows 2003 server, but am running into problems getting to the default website. It works fine on the W2K server with IIS 5.0. I have all the web server extensions enabled, but I get a comment under the properties of the default web site under the tab Server Extensions 2002: "This server has not been configured to use the Server Extensions. To configure it, choose Configure Server Extensions 2002 from the Task menu for this server." I cannot find the Task menu for the life of me.  - OWA is not responding Hello: I have been having problems with my OWA on W2K sp2 server for the last few days. Yesterday it was giving me so many problems I decided to reboot the server and then OWA started to work. Last night somewhere between 8:30pm and 10:30pm the problem started again. If I try an open the page Explorer is displaying the following error: HTTP Error 500-12 Application Restarting Internet Information Services I checked TechNet and found Q248013 "HTTP Error 500-12 Application Restarting" but this does not seem to apply. The event viewer has generated some Event ID 5's with different discriptions. They are at the bottom of this post. Does anyone know what might be going on with this?  - ASP fails to run hi everyone..ive been succesfuly running an intranet site for past one month..suddenly all my asp pages gives http error 500 or 403. I Disabled friendly http errors in my browser and then when i run my IIS home page i.e. servername/virtualdiractory i get the following message displayed: Directory Listing Denied - this virtual directory does not allow contents to be listed. I have set the site to require SSL and 128-bit encryption and i have chosen the Require Client Certificate option in order for the application to require client certificates. If I use IE to call the handler, the site asks for the client certificate. If another application does a web request to the application, the site does not ask for the client certificate. I did a trace using the network monoitor tool and after the client and server hello, the presentation of the server certificate, there is no client certificate requested from the server and the call proceeds as normal to application data transfer.  - Deploying Win2k SP4 Hi, When I apply SP4, I encounter the error "Unable to write ScriptMaps metabase entry" "Failed to execute regsvr32.exe. Error Code 5." What I finally did is 1. Uninstall IIS 2. Install SP4 3. Reinstall IIS No problem so far. I then compare 3 files in the server with another server which has successfully patched with SP4 with IIS running. The 3 files are inetmgr.exe, inetmgr.dll and inetinfo.exe. The files ob both servers are the same in terms of File version and other information.  - Multiple sites and domains on 1 IP question... I have Windows2000 Server with IIS5.0, all service packs installed. My question is, how do I setup multiple sites on my box (1 IP) For example: www.abc.com -> http:/123.123.123.123/abc/index.htm www.xyz.com -> http:/123.123.123.123/xyz/index.htm Do I need to setup my own DNS server with some kind of forwarding? Any direction you could give would be great. Also can I use DNS server for email forwarding ?  - IIS Hangs, C++ EH exception I have IIS 5 on Win2k (SBS Edition). IIS hangs randomly (sometimes once every 3-4 days, sometimes 3-4 times a day).  - IIS Admin Service will not start, Invalid Name All, I cannot start the IIS admin service (or the ftp or WWW service) on my NT 4.0 box. It says invalid name. It all started when I got the svhost.exe hacker intrusion. Can anyone help me? I reinstalled RPC configuration, and it still does not work.  - iis applications Hi Everyone, Anyone knows of a way to script the creation of an iis application at a certain starting point. Meaning not just creating the virtual root, but also making that directory the sarting point of a new application space, using the mkwebdir.vbs script only creates the virtual root. I'm looking to the eqivalent of going to the properties of a virtual root and hitting "create". Setting the isolation level and friendly names is not a problem through their metabase entries, it's just creating the application, which I believe creates some unique entries per server.  - 500 Server Error (Bad URL) in IIS 5 I am a beginner to IIS, I just installed it. Therefore the problem started after the installation, using the default settings, it is not a upgraded box. When browsing in internet explorer I always get the 500 error (described below). Also, I need to test server in Dreamweaver with the url of my site: http://localhost/MySite/ oh and I get the http 500 error (again). The exact message displayed is: Dreamweaver cannot use the prefix you entered to display live data. Please double-check your site configuration.  - How to figure out which application is listening on TCP port 21 - FTP Service says: Address already in use I've Windows 2000 Advanced Server (SP3). In 'Internet Information Services' the Web Service is running but the FTP Service is stopped. If I try to restart the FTP Service I get the error "Address already in use". To my big surprise netstat -an shows me that there's already another application listening on TCP port 21 Active Connections Proto Local Address Foreign Address State TCP 0.0.0.0:21 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING TCP 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING ... I guess that's the reason why I can't start the FTP Service. Does someone know how to figure out which application is listening on my computer on TCP port 21.  - virt dir OK wwwroot is not I get a 400 file not found while using my site. Everything works until I get to a point of downloading a file off a link (more specifically a report off and asp page). This is on the wwwroot pointing to a different location.  - Newbie needs help with software trying to FTP My new boss wants me to use Online Merchant (a no longer existing shopping cart/website development program) to get a first draft of a web site. The program wishes to "publish" the website. I have directed it to a directory on my computer. I recently installed IIS but know very little about it. The problem is: Online Merchant asks for my ip address (which I used from my computer), user id and password - presumably to use during FTP. Anyone know what user id and password the program might be referring to and where to find it? And do I have to publish the software in a particular directory to use IIS? Thanks!  - Virtual Directory to share on other PC - Help Hi I have IIS v 5.1 installed on a WinXP Pro PC which is not part of a domain. I have tried to create a virtual FTP directory to point at a share on another WinXP machine which is also not in a domain. Both are on the same subnet and I can access each other PC via Windows shares but IIS gives me a red error icon next to the Virtual Directory in IIS. The event log says bad username or password and access via a FTP client cannot connect to this new Virtual Directory. I have created a user account with the same password on the destination PC the same as what IIS uses for guest web access but still no luck.  - IISSync problem Trying to get IISSYNC running on a Windows 2000 SP3 cluster with IIS. I've gone through the steps in KB249603 as far as the domain account, setting the master WWW service to use the domain account for anonymous, and I also set the same domain account as the anonymous for the IWAM_ and password. In addition, I've gone through the whitepaper and put the domain IUSR_ account in the local guests group, confirmed that it has "log on locally". However, every time I've tried to run IISSYNC, I get the following: Source : 136, scanned, Targets : (136,0), Error replicating to target VASERVER : The identity or password set on the application is not valid error code 2148598804 ( 80110414 ) At least one target computer was not replicated successfully What am I doing wrong?  - PHP caused server extensions to fail I created a new website and enabled frontpage extensions. I tested that I could open up the site in FrontPage with no problem. I was successful. Soon after I configured PHP 4.2.3 as CGI and API. Knowing that I finally got PHP to work I opened up Frontpage and attempted to work on my site. To my surprise the server extensions failed to recognize the SharePoint server. FrontPage no longer works and I have developers working on PHP pages that they need to upload. Granted they can do it through FTP but I like working with FrontPage myself. Why is it that it failed? How do I get it to work again? I have 6 weeks to get thos project done. On the public server the ASP code works fine however on the staging server I've started getting this error recently: error '8002801d' Library not registered. /default.asp, line 4 There is nothing in the code to indicate what the problem might be and the exact same pages work fine on the other server.  - 5.0 - Page Cannot Be Displayed Just out of the blue we will get page cannot be displayed errors on our IIS 5.0 Server. Restart the Web Services and everything is fine. Does anyone have any suggestions? No suspicious activity in the IIS logs, nothing being logged in the System and Application event logs. This is very frustrating. We have a Netware 5.1 web server (Novonyx) that has been up for over a year (382 days last I checked) with no problems at all.  - Frontpage install on unc? I am having trouble installing the server extensions for FP2002 onto a DFS share. \\server\share is the home directory and 2003 server iis 6.0. I tried to follow the instructions "Connecting Web Sites to UNC Network Shares" http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/prodtechnol/sharepnt/proddocs/admindoc/owsj04.asp Has anyone successfully got this to work? When i try to Extend my frontpage site i get the error "Warning: Your FrontPage web content is stored on a UNC share. Anyone will be able to browse the content of your FrontPage web. To enable FrontPage's access protection, uninstall the FrontPage server extensions, reconfigure your Microsoft Internet Information Server to use a local partition and reinstall the FrontPage server extensions." I don't understand why microsoft has this error, making it sound like its not supported, but on the other hand publishes an article describing how to fix it?!!  - OWA - - Some updates - - Urgent help needed Well I was having trouble with OWA from last 2 days. I would not be able to get the OWA main page. IE says error 500 Internal server error. In the IIS manager the SMTP virtual server is stopped (may be this is the main cause). When I tried to start it, it hangs for a while and then reports that the service did not respond the start or control request in a timely fashion check event log for details. There is nothing in the event log that corresponds to this kind of issue. Microsoft documentation says to check the registry keys. I checked the registry keys and its good as described in the docs. I dont know what to do next to bring it up and running. When I stop and start the IIS it reports the following warning in event log: IIS failed to log entry : File/exchange/global.asa line 66 object required: 'Application(...)'.  - restarting IIS fixes page not displayed Intermittantly (about once a week), a properly functioning web server, will start giving a page not displayed when attempting to access the web sites it hosts. Once we restart iis, the web sites spring back to life as if IIS has previously crashed. This is an unacceptable condition so we need to resolve what is causing this. Running W2000 Server with IIS 5.0. SP3 but otherwise a fully patched server. When IIS crashes all other aspects of the server appear to be functioning normally. Nothing suspecious is being written to the event log. This server serves only as the corporate Internet so other than IIS, smtp mail, ftp. McAfee Virus scan, and Arcserve, no other applications are being hosted on this server. I have seen some complaints to this occurance in IIS forums but not specific resolutions that would apply.  - mail stuck in queue Dear Group, I am using IIS 5.0, Windows 2000 Server and ColdFusion to send mail. Previously the set up worked, but it has ceased to do so. All mail that I try to send gets stuck in the Queue folder. The SMTP service is running. I have no mail in the Badmail folder, and using the relay facility I have the access to the SMTP server restricted to only my IP number. Just bring up the properties dialog for the Default Web Site in the Internet
Information Services MMC and change the path on the "Home Directory" tab ...
