    - Disable error reporting At http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325075/en-us it is explained how error reporting can be disabled for Office. Can this also be done for the .Net framework? Or even better, can the errors for which a report is generated be filtered (some ignored, some added) and can the reports then be redirected to a custom reporting site? -- I hate working in dungeons.     - merge images hi,everyone I have a question about merging images. I want to merge serval tiff images into one file using C#,that means the final file has multiple frames.My problem is that I want each frame in the final file is of single-strip,but when I want to merge serval images which has been of singe-strip,the final file my codes produced contains images which are all of multiple-strips.     - RegAsm : error RA0000 : the specified module could not be found Hi all, I have an assembly dll. while trying to register it using regasm regasm x:\source\qryserver\NVserver\bin\debug\NVServer.dll. I had successfully registered the same on other machines, I registered this some time back even opn my machine, but now I formatted my machine and when I tried to register this it is failing. I have VS.Net2005 running, with framework 2.0 . The framework is also placed in the path . when I try to see the attributes of regasm it is showing it fine.     - AppDomain just like Winword I am able to keep same process for my different instance of my application when we are launching "New Document" in our application using AppDomain.CurrentDomain.ExecuteAssembly. Only issue is that one instance is running, on double click on exe in explorer, it is creating seperate process of my application. What I want just like Winword.     - DPAPI User Store... Access denied? Dear All: I've spent the past three days attempting to implement the DPAPI w/User Store solution reccommended by Microsoft (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnnetsec/html/SecNetHT08.asp), and after following the instructions exactly, I recieve an error of the following format: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) At the time that I first initialize the DPAPIComp object in my test web project (the exact same as is detailed in the Microsoft webpage above). I have even gone to the extent of giving the created user Administrative access rights, and yet this error still occurs. Has anyone run into this? The only difference between the example given by Microsoft and what I'm using is that I am using Visual Studio 2005 and .NET 2.0. Is there a better way to do this, or is there something unmentioned in that article that is critical to getting it to function? Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided!     - Visual Studio .NET 2005 using Web Application Project Because I wanted the builds for my ASP.NET sites to be a single *.dll in a /bin/ directory (like VSNET 2003), I decided to try the Web Application Project download. However, I am still pulling my hair out because it doesn't want to recognize any of the Controls (not even the ones that are part of ASP.NET). All of the Controls show the following error: Name 'mycontrolid' is not declared. And my UserControls show the following error (all my UserControls are in the same directory as my Pages and I do have them registered with the register directive): Element 'myusercontrolclassname' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site. Can anybody help me find an easy way to move my 2003 ASP.NET code to Visual Studio .NET 2005 and be able to have a single *.dll generated?     - Access Private Key Hi, I am trying to sign xml using SignedXml class using a certificates private key. i am using vs2005 with .net 2.0 and c#. i am having problems and now am quite confused. all i really need to do is generate a number of certificates, which i have using makecert. then sign them using the certificates private key.     - bug in C# generated crystal report Hi group, I have a very simple report linked to a database. A big title, and a page of raw corresponding to a database row. Sometimes (can't identify when) all the lines (titles, headers, footers, lines ...) are vertically truncated. just like if the space between lines were too small to print all the line, but only the half bottom of each line. I try to refresh lines or full report. I try to skip the viewer and print directly. I try to export it in PDF before printing. I try at least 5 PC with differents configuration, a 3 different printer . the problem persist. I think it could be the space between the line is too small, but i don't know to upgrade it.     - .NET exe of Webserver is not executed in .Net 2.0 When I put a .NET assembly (.exe) generated with VS.NET 2003 on a Webserver (IIS) and try to invoke it over a Browser (IE) from another station the following happens: 1. under .NET 1.1 the application gets executed (normal appearance) 2. as soon .NET 2.0 is installed as well, the application is not executed. It comes up the dialog to execute or save the Application in a folder. It looks like a coumputer with no .NET framework at all. The Application in our case has to be started right away. In ASP.NET 1.1 the RegisterClientScriptBlock method was just a key and script (2 Strings), but in ASP.NET the ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock also includes a parameter called 'type' which is of Type. This sounds like it is supposed to specify whether the script is JavaScript, VBScript, JScript, ECMAScript, etc., but I what am I supposed to enter here (I have not heard of a value of Type that would specify this)? As a user wants to debug his custom assembly be e.g. forcing a debugger break ("Debugger.Break()"), he experiences that he can not inspect the value of the public properties of any class, since they are optimized away: "Cannot evaluate expression because the code of the current method is optimized." This is true even as the compiled assembly is built in debug mode using "/optimize-". I found something in docs, saying that the /optimize settings of the calling assembly - which is my app built in release mode - take precedence. The .NET's service provider architecture achieves this, but has one drawback - given service is configured once for whole system; my analysis shows that i have to bind services, depending on who is requesting.     - File performance I am opening a number of large files (100 to 900 Mhz) to extact some header information (500 bytes). watching the memory usage on the task bar when ever the call Filestream fs = File.Open(filename, Filemode.Open) is called, the memory usage jumps way beyond that expected (89 Mhz file usage jumps by 400 M). I then use a few fs.Read calls to extract the info required then call fs.Close and fs.dispose. The memory usage still remains high which can cause problems as if the number of files checked is large the machine complains about the amount of memory not available. Is thier a way to reduce the amount of memory required, surely then amount of memeory required should be a few bytes as I only require a pointer to the file. With thanks. In earlier days, when I used to design classes based on limited VB object based model, we used to create 2 different callses for one business component. One class which is used for all database read operation and another for database write, update and delete opeation. Now, why we were doing this so because of the locking in database via VB programs. if all database select operation id seperated from database write operation it palces less locks and almost comes out immediatly by removing database locks (Offcorse when all the VB dlls are regirsted in COM+). Now I wanted know is this still applicable in .NET. For example, if I want to write a Cusomter business component, do I still have to seperate out the select and updates in seperate classes. In earlier days, I used to designed a dll with following classes. CustomerRead (Main class to read, exposed to world) CustomerWrite (Main class to write, exposed to world) CustomerSingleSelect - a calss which gets data from customer based on primary key and always return me a sigle row CustomerMultiSelect - a class which gets the data from customer where select operation is not based on its primay key. CustomerModify - a class to modify customer. Belive me this approch was much faster then everything in one class. But this was the case in VB time. Does this still a case in .NET?     - Now I need to do this without breaking ASP.Net I've been struggling for two weeks now to duplicate a VB6 ActiveX control in VB.Net, and also improve it's functionality. The control is used to collect the user's fingerprint and compare it to a stored copy on the server, and if the match is successful fill some hidden fields with values and call a form submit. We wanted to use web services rather than direct SQL connections as we do now, and to also have the web service URL set dynamically. We built the project as a Windows Control (DLL) class with COM Class and COM Visible set to True. We were able to get the control to load in IE, but due to the need to interface with the local USB fingerprint device we had to list the web site as Trusted and elevate the Trusted Zone to perform no security checks (Problem #1). The class required a couple of DLL files to function properly, and as expected we were able to put them in the same folder as the class DLL file and they were downloaded automatically. The problem was the App.Config file, it never would download. (Problem #2) We recently figured out that apparently a DLL can't make use of App.Config, but the calling app can. This explained seeing the client attempt to download iexplore.exe.config in the web logs. To make matters worse, it wasn't attempting to download the file from the location of the class DLL, but rather from the root of the web site and from /bin folder. (Problem #3) So we renamed the App.Config file and placed it in the root. It still would not download, this time with 403 Errors which we determined were the ASP.Net interpreter trying to process the file rather than allow direct access. (Problem #4) We decided to remove the parsing of .config files from the configuration of the root web app, which finally allowed everything to execute properly. But now, if we had any web.config files in the root app, they would be open to being freely downloaded, and might not even work at all (Problem #5) I just know there has to be a better way to do this. I cannot believe that it's this difficult with .Net to duplicate and improve on the functionality we had using VB6.     - RSACryptoServiceProvider.VerifyData Hangs I have found that RSACryptoServiceProvider.VerifyData sometimes hangs for several (typically 6 or more) seconds. This is very irritating since a component that I am using makes this call every time a form in my application opens. The entire application freezes. Obviously it makes my application very sluggish. Mind you, on some machines the above always seems to be very quick. And on others it can be quick for several minutes, and then start hanging for a while. I'm using .Net Framework 2.0.
