installutil won't install service

i run installutil "my service.exe" and it comes back to
say that everything installed ok and commit was ok. i
search for my service and it doesn't exist. i've done
this before and it has worked, so what is the problem now?

Are you sure it installed correctly? Make sure. If it
completed successfully refresh the Services Controller.
