    - SQL Insert problems Hi Using the old style of inserting data in a table str="Insert Into MyTable (Description, Test) Values ( 'The Quick, Black Jump's, Over The Lazy Dog', 'Test' )"; The above would fail since there are commas and single quote in the data.     - Provider factory for Mobile / Compact Framework Hello, I am about to write an app for Pocket PC 2003 / Windows CE / Mobile 5 (don't know which yet) from which I need to query both SQL Server Express 2005 and SQLCe. I would like to be able to use a provider factory to not have to duplicate code. ADO 2.0 has DbProviderFactory, but it is not available in the .NET Compact framework. I could write my own provider factory "the old way" using IDbConnection, etc., but I rather not reinvent that wheel.     - Copying .vob files to Hard drive I've got about 15 Sony miniDVD disks for my camcorder, and I'm just in the process of uploading all the video files to my hard drive to make a DVD. I've successfully done this with all except from 3. Two of the disks will open the files so I can see them, but won't copy them into my documents. The other just won't open the folder at all. I've put all 3 disks into my TV and they work fine. This is really annoying, and hope anyone can come up with a way to help me get these files onto my computer!! I'm using Vista by the way. For example when I start a new web application which use System.Speech I am getting an error stating that System.Speech name space is not found.     - Process dump for later debugging Hi everybody. We are currently discussing the possibilities in our company, how to optimize the customer support for lots of our business customers. Since our new software products are based aproximatly by 80% on the dotNet-Framework, this seems to be the starting point. I was thinking about dumping a process in some state (the state at which some hard trackable error occurs) and sending this dump file to our support team for debugging reasons, but coud not find any functions/methods in the documentation to accomplish this. So my question would be: Is there a way to dump a .net based process at some state, for later debugging? And if there is, where would be the starting point to read about it - and - is there a way to load this file into a debugger, not connected to the machine where the dump file was generated?     - .NET Framework 2.0 Configuration utility crash I cant start the .NET 2.0 Configuration utility, it carshes before I even get a chance to do anything. I'm running Windows Vista x64.     - New async socket behavior? Hi all, My company has recently migrated an application from .Net 1.1 to .Net 2.0. It uses the Socket class to perform some network communications. When Calling the BeginConnect() method, I have noticed that sometimes the specified AsyncCallback method will actually get called from the same thread as the BeginConnect() call was made from, prior to the the BeginConnect() call returning (i.e. same thread, same call stack). In .Net 1.1, the callback was always performed on a separate thread. I've even gone back and run some tests to verify this. I guess I would just like some confirmation. Did this behavior change between version 1.1 and 2.0? Is this a bug in .Net 2.0? The documentation for BeginConnect() explicitly states "the system will use a separate thread to execute the specified callback method." This caused an issue in our application that we were able to easily correct, but I wanted to throw this out there in case anyone else is experiencing a similar problem. I realise that ideally I should call dispose on this object but since the singleton could be referenced by many clients when should I do this? I can only think I need to implement some sort of ref counting but I'd like to avoid this and just clean up the object when my process is shutdown. If you can offer any advice I'd appreciate it. The emails to be processed are structured using custom forms. I have found various technologies that can read emails directly from exchange, but have found no info and no way to read the form fields directly. Can anyone help with this?     - Drive/FS change detection Hey. I'm recently developing an application which has to deal with SD cards. My problem boils down to SD detection, basically I've two use cases: 1) somebody inserts a new SD card into an existing Drive in the system 2) Insertion of a new drive/cardreader with a SD card already in.     - Timeout in HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() for large uploads I'm using HttpWebRequest in .NET 1.1 to post data files to a web server. The data files can potentially be 20mb or more. The relevant code for this looks essentially like: Stream reqStream = request.GetRequestStream(); reqStream.Write(data, 0, data.Length); reqStream.Close(); WebResponse response = request.GetResponse(); My problem is that GetResponse() times out while the file is being uploaded. My call to Write() is returning immediately rather than blocking until the data gets sent to the remote server. I know I can increase the timeout interval but that just pushes out the upper size limit for data without fixing the real issue. I've found that if I upload in pieces instead of writing the data all at once then every call to Write after the first one seems to block while data from the previous write gets uploaded. That potentially solves my problem since only the last, small piece will be left when I call GetResponse. I can't find any documentation confirming this behavior, though. Is there any guarantee that if I upload in pieces then my program can more or less monitor the actual transfer progress. If not, does anyone have other ideas how I can avoid calling GetResponse() until the upload is finished? Thanks, Ravi. Tag: Video Capture Tag: 135409

    - IIS7 and .NET 3.5 Hi, I installed Visual Studio 2008 Express earlier today, but I am not sure that IIS7 has been correctly configured to be able to use the 3.5 Framework. When I look at the AppPools listed in IIS7, I see two AppPools that are both set to use v2.0, and when attempting to create a new one, v3.5 simply isn't shown as an available Framework. Am I missing something (ie. the plot!), or is this just how it is? When I retrieve the custom configuration section, I also get an instance of the nested configuration element even when I don't have it inside the custom configuration section.     - Q: displaying image in WPF I am probably doing something really stupid, but I cannot get an image to display in a window using WPF. I copied the image into my main project directory in Visual Studio 2005.     - AsyncOperation not working as I expected Hi, I'm trying to use AsyncOperation to execute a method in a main thread context from a worker thread. If I run the program from a console application then it doesn't work. If however I run it from a WindowsForms application it does. Basically I set the name of the main thread to "Main Thread", when the "ShouldBeInMainThreadCall" is called the Thread.CurrentThread.Name is null. And this causes applications (compiled against 1.1 interfaces) to throw System.MissingMethodException.     - SMTP Connection failure.... I was wondering if someone could point me to the correct Forum for an issue I am having with Windows Server 2003 SMTP connection failure. I have a small application written in ASP.net that takes user input and then sends the input via Email using system.net.mail. When the user clicks the submit button an email is sent. The first time the submit button is clicked the email sent is fine, but subsequent emails got an error message..unable to connect to the SMTP server. If I take no action and wait 10-20 minutes then run the exact same program again the email will be sent but again there is a delay before it will allow any other emails to be sent. Seems to be a setting I am missing....Any ideas what I shoud look for? I have followed the step-by-step SMTP setup instructions I have seen on the forums and no change....     - Troubles with configuration files for application with several Hi, I have an application that consists in one main exe and several dll's (BL, DAL, Util, etc) Each dll project has its own settings (in Properties\Settings.settings file). When I build the solution, in the bin folder of each project it VS generates the mylib.dll and mylib.dll.config files However, the config files are not copied over to the exe bin filder. There I only see myapp.exe and myapp.exe.config, and mylib1.dll and mylib2.dll, and no mylib1.dll.config and mylib2.dll.config Am I doing something wrong? I thought the dll config's should be copied there too, since for example if I want to test the app from there, the dll's need the config files, isn't it? Do I have to copy the configs manually? captures the trainer's screen and broadcast it to other users. Is there
anything that work in a Winforms (or better still Webforms) environment that
provides this kind of functionality. Preferably an ActiveX control. I've
googled it but can't find anything that seems straight forward.
