    - programmatically render a datagrid cell I have a datagrid with templatecolumns. >From code I need to discover what will be rendered on the screen before calling the render method, for each type of column (BoundColumn would be easy, but I need it also for TemplaceColumns).     - System.CodeDOM and Microsoft.CSharp missing Hi, I've got some C# code with a using clause containing :- using System.CodeDom; using Microsoft.CSharp; but it refuses to compile, saying it cannot find them and that I'm missing a reference. I try to send a picture via MSN to a friend. drag and drop the pic, I see the download progress bar. then the friend tol me it can't read it, it has a security message telling me that downloaded content are hazardous and it has been deleted.     - problem loading dll created by XmlSerializer I have strange problem on a client's computer. I have an application that uses XmlSerializer to load/save configuration data. this program worked OK on all computers so far. Now, on one computer, I get an error loading dll 'file:///C:/DOCUME~1/?????/LOCALS~1/Temp/bsehakc2.dll'. Now, this is NOT one of my dlls, so I ASSUME it's a dll generated by the XmlSerializer. The user running the program is the administrator, so it should not be problems with permissions. Another strange problem I had on this computer was that installation of dotnetfx.exe failed with error 'setup cannot write to setup log' (I was installing logged in as a user that was in the administrators group, but was not the built-in Administrator user account). After searching the newsgroups I managed to install the framework by installing under the Administrator account( instead of JUST a user who is in the administrator group). I don't know if these two problems are related, but if two strange things happen on the same computer...     - Insert image in Office Document Hallo, As a feature of a web application, I need to dynamically insert image (logo) according to the context in Office document (and then supply them for download). I've tried knowing more about the way Office document format are built. Because I'm not a OLE expert, it difficult to me to find who to deal with OLE Structered Storage. I've just seen code to read and write the properties of Office Document. I also know that some Product claim to do it (Aspose.Word, NWC.DocumentProperties, etc... but to expensiv because we just need to insert image -one feature- and nothing more) ... How did they do it ? Does someone could give me a hint ? a link to the right doc ? I'm ready to dive in OLE if necessary. Installing Office and PIA on the server side is definitively not a solution to suggest.     - Localized resources not loaded until an administrator open the site... Hi, I continue to have some problem with localization in my custom controls. I have some custom controls which are webparts in sharepoint. these controls are localized (english & french) All works fine except if the end user is not an administrator! if the user which access the web site is not an administrator, then the system don't try to open the resource file, but the language detected is french. after an administrator has opened the web site, then EVERY users see the information in the right language!!! its like if the system don't try to find any localized DLL if the user is not admin and if the DLL is not allready in memory. its a real problem, because my client is not so happy with this bug... During development of an application that uses the parallel port for communications if I send data when the port on the connected device has an error I get an error that is handled with a try-catch-finally block. I can then clear the error on the device and successfully send data to it.     - WebBrower question... With .NET 2.0 (beta.....) MS is introducing a new Control: the WebBrowser. I'm afarid it will change quite a lot before final release as, obviously, the doc is screwed up... Anyway, nonetheles, I would like to know how I could do that with it: -1. use custom WebProtocol! I want to have custom protocol to query my application for buildin scripts, pictures, etc... I try to setup a custom protocol and link and pict with an href using this protocol, but my custom protocol handler is not even called! -2. I want the user to be able to edit the HTML content ... I can't see any ReadOnly or such property. Alternatively I would be happy to try an other HTML control which enable me 1. & 2. I found various other control, but they didn't use custom web protocol (hence I was not able to display inbuild picture) PS: I really need cutom protocol, as the pic would come from a database, and would be updated by the user. I know you might think I could (secretely) write the pic to a temporary folder and then use that, but that would requires me to update the HTML content every time it is displayed (to point to the changing temporary folder!!!!) Alsa I though of using RichTextBox, but that's no good, it's no good at using link. It will recognise a string like 'http://xxxx' but you cannot save a string like 'recipe' as being a link (with hidden information)(although you cold do it, it's lost when saved..)     - Controlling Threads I am having a problem with QueueUserWorkItem. I thought there was a maximum number of worker threads a threadpool had available, 25 per processor, or something like that.     - release com+ objects in Windows 2003 server Hi I have developed some com+ component in dotnet using below System.Runtime.InteropServices System.EnterpriseServices I am creating object of these components in asp pages and invoking from other com dlls ( developed in VC++) . I observe a strange behavior in windows 2003 server. After the function call the object is not released. Every call keeps adding to the number of activated objects and finally it reaches the limit of my pooling setup and fails. I am setting the object to nothing in the asp which should ideally update the ref count of the com object and release it. This worked perfectly in Windows 2k and XP. I know a workaround for this. If i call the dispose function it releases the object. I was reluctant to change the code base on the Operating System. Please advice how to get this issue resolved.     - Enterprise Library Logging Block - Using an Xml Sink? Hi, Is there a way to use the logging block to write out the log as pure xml? Ive got an application that writes the log to a file and I want to be able to read this into a web application. I dont need to log to a database as this would be overkill for what Im trying to do.     - Toolbar / ImageList problem - Design Time vs Run Time I have an object derived from System.Windows.Forms.UserControl (plus an interface I defined). The UserControl has quite a few child controls (some w/children of their own) ranging from listviews to treeviews to tab controls / pages, toolbars, panes, and splitters. All my toolbars display correctly during design time. But, at runtime, some are displayed correctly and others aren't (there is no image shown - just a blank button). With each toolbar, it's all or nothing. Either all the images are correctly displayed, or none of them are. I've tried a couple things like deleting and re-creating the imagelist used by the toolbars and deleting and re-adding the buttons. Nothing seems to help. Any ideas? One follow-up: The transparent areas of the images that do display aren't transparent. I've tried with the transparent color set to the default as well as the actual color (used RGB value - 191, 192, 195) used in the images. Those "transparent" areas do show up, though.     - Strong Naming using AssemblyDelaySign(true) and VSS Hi I am having a problem using VSS (Visual SourceSafe) to store delayed signed assemblies - they are being 'broken' and are needing to be resigned. I have found that signing assemblies using AssemblyDelaySign(false) works fine - in that I can check the resulting assembly into VSS delete the original from the file system and when I get it back out of VSS it still works (i.e. is still correctly signed). I have however found that signing assemblies using AssemblyDelaySign(true) does not like being checked in/out of VSS. The signing operation itself works fine but if the resulting assembly is checking into VSS and the original is deleted, when got back out of VSS it is broken and needs resigning. The only obvious difference between the original and the one out of VSS that springs to mind is when got from VSS it has a new date/time. I do not want to set VSS to use original DateTime as that brings with it many other issues, such as failure to get latest is the person's clock who checks something in is late.     - Bloated Files... Hello, We're moving a project from MFC to .net. And we've been able to make some great improvements on the way - especially on the GUI side (big hurray for the guys who made the propertyGrid). But when it comes to Serialization - well I don't know. Using BinaryFormatter the file is 436 times larger then the file created with MFC. And just a hint for the problem in this: the file with 2.2 million objects was 7MB and now it is 3GB. (oh - not to mention that the load time was 30seconds and now well over 15minutes). Now I've read a lot about all the different options and have tested quite of it. I love the way all the formatting stuff fits together e.g. in remoting and I can see the merits. But, just in the off chance that I am overlooking something - is there a better Serialization scheme hidden somewhere in .net or has somebody else sat down an implemented a "MFC" similar way?     - What good is this automatic garbage collector? I have a simple .NET application with two or three listViews which are filled with icons and when the user click on the proper item, they display the related images. I use "image = null ; " for all images that have been used and are going to be closed. This is how ever no way to reduce the memory consumption. I have noticed , using the task manager, that garbage collector doesn't actually do any collections unless the computer becomes low on memory. This is very foolish, and what good is a garbage collector which doesn't collect the disposed objects when they aren't needed anymore? Besides, calling CG.Collect() is usually avoided for performance and speed. What else can i do?     - Application Quitting with no Error I'm using Aspects for my middle-tier data access, and on call interception the application quits without error. It's inconsistent and I've found no solid repro. I'm assuming the CLR is encountering an error it can't handle, but I can't reproduce it consistently so it's hard to determine how this is happening exactly. The object is constructed, and then on property access the application quits. The aspect is used in other places (And is executed well over 50 times) before it crashes. I am too much toroubled with System.Arithmetic Exception All the Form based
applications work fine on my system bu as soon as I use internet all the
applications start giving this execption.
When I create a new application and run it then it runs fine, then I just
place a button on my C# or VB.NET application or do even resize my form then
suddenly every thing goes wrong I am really fed up of this, I have to
install Windows and VS2003 every 2nd day, is Dot net not supposed to be run
on a machine having internet :P.
