    - SMTP Component Hello, I want to send with SMTP the eml files dropped by SmtpClient.Send when using a pickup directory (not IIS one). This can be useful for me as I send mails in several cases, included with SQL Express CLR procs, and I don't want (or it's not possible) to deal with asynchronous programming each time. Have you heard about such a component (a service) or do I have to program the SMTP protocol by myself ? Or any other idea I didn't have yet ?     - clickonce crash / failure Our app uses the following chain of urls: 1. yoursite.com/launch.php?room=00000271 - validates the roomid appends an appropriate server variable and encrypts and adds a hash and sends on to #2 2. mysite.com/launch.php decodes the encryption and compares hash for alteration. Re-encodes and redirects to #3 3. clickonceinstaller.application?encoded variables here All redirects are done with: header("Cache-Control: no-cache"); header("Pragma: no-cache"); header('Location: ' . $url); If I open IE and type in the starting link I get the clickonce app with no problems. If I leave the browser open and do it again (type in the url) I get: Cannot continue. The application is improperly formatted. Details reveal: the manifest may not be valid or the file could not be opened. + There are multiple root elements. Line 1, position 122. And I notice that I get a HTTP response of 206 instead of 200. Any ideas?     - WPF Application and windows display properties Hi, I am designing a window in WPF application. I want my WPF application to respond to the windows display properties (just like windows form application would). For example if I change the display to 'Brik' or 'Desert' the window should change colours accordingly. However, the Window which has a WPF User Control does not change its layout color to 'Brick' or 'Desert'. But the buttons do change color. How can I make my WPF application behave like anyother window application when it comes to layout coloring. I do not want to use any style.     - System.IO.StringReader ReadToEnd() I'm doing screen scraping from a Windows Application and dumping certain data into a SqlDb, it's one of our parent websites, through a Proxy server using the the WebClient class. I have used the WebRequest/Response classes but the only benefit I got from that was the abiliy to control the timeout on the WebResponse. I can control the timeout on the ProxyServer here and that's all I need.     - HasExited() generates an Access Denied error I have a C# program that relies on a service (let's call it myService.exe). So I wrote a routine that makes sure the service is running: int iProcessID = IsProcessRunning("myService.exe"); Process myProcess = Process.GetProcessById(iProcessID); These commands work great (I can post the IsProcessRunning() code if necessary, but since that's not the issue I thought I'd leave it out). Here's where the code fails: I check to make sure the process is alive using this code while(!bShutdown) { myProcess.WaitForExit(500); if(myProcess.HasExited) { break; } else { // Periodic functions go here... } } On Windows XP the code works great. On Windows Vista the .HasExited property causes an Access Denied error. I'm sure it has something to do with permissions, but I haven't figured it out yet. Can anyone help?     - .NET Framework 2.0 fails to install Hello I am a systems administrator of an Windows Server 2003 R2 Machine 64 bit. I am having some problems with .NET Framework 2.0. After i unistalled it, i won't install anymore. The installer start and then hangs at a certain point. I googled the hell out of me and tryed to clean up all .Net Framework, with the INSTALLATION CLEANUP UTILITY. I first unistalled IIS and the unistalled .NET Framework I am having same either i use Netfx64.exe or try to install it by Add/Remove > Add/Remove Windows Components. By they way i am having the same problem when i try to install .NET Framework 3.0 Where can i find some logging and how can in install the .net framework again.Hopefully someone could help me.     - Symantec Endpoint prevents .NetFramework programs from launching Hello, We have a few laptops, different Dell models using Windows XP SP2, that are having a problem with .Net 2.0 and Symantec Endpoint. Whenever a program that uses .NetFramework attempts to launch we receive errors, different errors depending on the program. An example is when I try to launch Virtual Infrastructure Client 2.0 (VMware client), I receive the error "VPXClient.exe - Fatal error". CLR error: 8007000b. The program will now terminate. I know that it has something to do with the permissions between Symantec Endpoint and .NetFramework because I can run the program using "run as" and using the domain administrators credentials. Also, If I uninstall Endpoint all the programs that were affected launch without any issue. I have already put a ticket in with Symantec and hope that they are able to resolve this issue. I just want to stay ahead of the game in case they say that it is not there issue. Just thought that maybe someone in here might have a clue. Please be gentle as I am not a programmer.     - Problem with AddNew row in DataGridView I created a custom class that implements IBindingList. I've tested the class and all properties and methods function as I expect. When I assign an object (of my IBindingList class) to the DataSource property of a DataGridView, everything appears to work fine. Records appear appropriately. I'm able to add a new record, edit an existing, and delete and existing all fine. However, if I enter the last row (AddNew row), exit the row (without making any edits), and re-enter the last row (AddNew row), then I get an error in my code stating that "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object." I also notice that when I enter the last row, a new row is added to my underlying collection, but when I exit the row (without making any edits) then the row is not removed even though it does not appear in the DataGridView. How do I get the DataGridView to notify my IBindingList class that the new row has been canceled? I posted to this newsgroup, because I didn't feel this was related to a specific language. However, if there is a more appropriate newsgroup for this discussion, please let me know.     - Flow document columns I need help with a small but important (to me) formatting issue in XAML FlowDocument. Hints involving raw XAML coding, or using Expression are equally helpful. My machine-generated FlowDocument needs to have a full-width title across the first line of the irst page. The remainder of the document, which can span several pages (but we don't know in advance), should be presented in two columns. I have tried using a <Figure/> and also using a <Table/>.     - Deployment issue Hello, With vb.NET, I created a very simple class library project with only one com class (one method). I used the setup project template to generate an msi file. On some computers, trying to use my com class in a VBA macro throws the error : The assembly ... or one of its dependencies was not found (my translation !) Have you seen this kind of problem ?     - Alternate Function for CreateFile on .NET Framework,... Hi all, sorry for Crossposting, but i dont know whether someone can help me here. If i remember right, there was a Class or a Member function in the .NET Framework that could do mostly the same as CreateFile can do for me, but i cant remember its Name. By saying the "same" i mean i was able to use it to open Handles to Devices and anything that could be opened with CreateFile and had a Symbolic Name that has been exported from Kernel to User-Space. But i cant remember the class/member name. I am sure there was something inside the .NET FW and natively supported by the .NET. AFAIK it was also something MS used internally in its base classes, but it was exposed to any programmer and was public/static or whatever available from the CLR/.NET. I really cant remember its name, but i used something in the past years ago for opening something, if i remember right to a drive. I think i used it the first time with .NET 2.0... Anybody can help me here, or am i remembering something wrong? We are having problems with two development machines where Visual Studio 2008 is already installed. The application in question has Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio (x86,x64) selected as a prerequisite. The machines in question have Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio (x64) installed and working OK. The first problem we encounter is that ClickOnce does not recognise the existing installation and attempts to install the Crystal Reports Basic runtime again. Then to make matters worse the installation fails with this message" Component Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 (x86, x64) has failed to install with the following error message: "Fatal error during installation. The following components failed to install: - Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 (x86, x64) See the setup log file located at 'C:\Users\martinh\AppData\Local\Temp\VSDB500.tmp\install.log' for more information.     - Funky Build Shows No Errors When Compiling Something got funky with my build. I had been happily developing my web site when all of a sudden F6 (or rebuild solution) decided it was not going to compile my .aspx.cs nor ascx.cs code and thus I do not get error messages until I try to open page in browser. Could someone walk me through how I get this functionality back. In property pages I have "Build Web site as part of soution" checked but does not seem to do anything. Sometimes if I right click on the web site project and select "Build web site" the first time i will get no errors in the error list and the second time I will get errors. This behaviour seemed to rear its ugly head rather unexpectedly. Not sure what I toggled, if anything, that invoked this (ahem) feature. When I update that to VS2008, I get a SocketException in the first instance, when the second tries to run. I made a very simple test using VB. In VS2005, make a VB win app. In the project properties, check the "Make single instance application" box. Run the app in the debugger. Launch a second instance from File Explorer. It will, correctly, startup briefly then close. The first instance will bring itself to the forefront. This is good. When I convert the app to VS2008 and run the app in the debugger, launch a second instance, the first instance will get a First Chance SockedException then an IOException (wrapping the SocketEx) in the debug output window. The exception is handled, but I'm wondering if I need to be doing some different setup or permissions something. I'm running this on Vista. I get the exception running normally, running as administrator and running with UAC off. When I do this test on XP, I do not get this exception. Basically we want to share assemblies across many applications and allow for side by side execution, but for reasons that I donâ??t quite agree with the GAC is ruled out! These applications are essentially scheduled tasks hence using the GAC means deploying to many boxes. So that leaves me with adding a CodeBase element for each dependent assembly. This works fine except when the referenced assembly also depends on another assembly in the CodeBase directory, in this case the application fails with a FileNotFoundException. Using FusLogVw it's clear that the CodeBase is not used when probing for this dependent assembly that is not directly referenced by the application. If I add another dependentAssembly element for this assembly then all is good. So at last I get to my questions: When loading an assembly via a CodeBase why doesn't Fusion use the CodeBase to find any of its dependent assemblies? Other than the GAC is there an alternative? When the applications displays a dialog box then CloseMainWindow() works fine. In general this is not good since I can not predict/force the application out of the system tray. System.Diagnostics.Process.CloseMainWindow() is essentially a Native Win32 SendMessage/PostMessage with WM_CLOSE On the other hand if I use unmanaged code to call SendMessage with SC_CLOSE, my application running minimized in the system tray gets the request and closes gracefully.     - Windows Service & System.Timers.Timer production issue... I'm looking into a production issue related to a windows service and System.Timers.Timer. The background is the windows service uses a System.Timers.Timer to periodically poll a directory location on a network for files and then copies these files to another location (on the network) AND then updates a record in the database. The file copying is performed before the database update because the file system is not transactional. The code C# .Net (2.0) has the required try/catch/finally to capture any exception that might be generated during the Timer Elapsed event - any errors that are generated are logged. I also know about the issue relating to System.Timers.Timer swallowing unhandled exceptions. The code also logic (locks) to prevent to Timer Elapsed event being processed at the same time, the files are processed in a synchronous manner. The issue that is arising is intermittently files are being copied BUT the database record is not being updated as expected AND there is no error message in our logs. As I said this is an intermittent fault that I can't reproduce on the development server even when I chuck a large number of files (large file size as well) at it. I want to know has anyone had any similar experiences. Next step is to investigate the hardware & software configuration of the production server. My XP pro system restore is acting up, first it will not keep except one day
contrary to the scdeuled daily restore in the scheduler, second it have
multiple entries of this statment "Printer driver send with eFax messenger
plus installed" and I mean this place a new entry every 15 minutes or less in
system restore. I am on a home netwrok wired by RJ45 but other computers asre
aslo wireless using WAP key. Any help is appreciated. This is only happening
on one machine, I installed PC-Cillin 2008, it found a trojan and fixed it
but the machine is still behaving as before. No printer is connected to this
machine, the printer is connected to another machine
