But it fails on Windows 2000 Server in the same domain or a Windows Server 2003 upgraded from Windows 2000 Server in the same domain.     - How to show a text showing the progress in percentage on a Progres Hi everyone I want to show the progress in percentage over a progress bar, like it is used in many of the installation programs, like if the background color of the progress bar is white and the text is showing "0%" then text is in blue color When the progress is "100%" the background color of the progress bar is blue, so I want the text showing "100%" should come with white color and when the progress is say "50%" then the background color of the progress bar will be half blue and half white, in this case I want the text showing "50%" should come as "5" in white color and "0%" as blue color, as if the text is showing the invert color of the background Is it possible?     - Concise loading of data into a hashtable ? Hello, I am converting an app from JavaScript to ASP.NET I have the following JavaScript 'associative array'. Is there a concise way to create an analogous structure in .NET Framework using c# or VB.NET? I don't want to use JScript. consFin = {2:'m',4:'n',6:'ng',8:'r',10:'l',12:'kh',14:'k',16:'s',18:'hl',19:'tl',20:'s h'}; The amount of data is tiny and I have no wish to store it in the database. Likewise, I don't really want to use a pile of hashtable.add() statements to put the data to the hashtable. There are another 6 arrays of similarly sized data and 3 of them are associative arrays too. I could put this into 2-D arrays and have the data read into the hashtable but I would have to store the keys (numbers) as strings (and convert them, or not, to numbers) for my hashtable.     - Huge memory usage problem... Hello all, I have a windows form application which has a simple buttons toolBar, menuItem and a tab control with 3 tab pages each holding a treeView and a listView. When I checked to see how much memory usage my application demands I was surprised to see that even when the treeViews and listViews are empty my application takes about 25,000Kb (25M)!!! of memory usage! How can this be? Anyone with any idea as for what can cause such a thing? Just a simple comparison: Outlook 2003 which I understand is a .NET application takes up about 15M of memory usage and its obvious that this is a much bigger application then mine.     - program terminates without any exception We are running a Client/Server application using Remoting. Now we have the problem, the program terminates unexpected without any exeptions or error messages. The .log files also say nothing, it's just stop logging without errors.     - How to intercept what HttpWebRequest sends? Hello everybody, I'm currently thinking about a way how to intercept the binary data that HttpWebRequest sends over the network. The class is a VERY helpful thing but there are a few things that I obviously can't do with it. In particular I'd like to have control over the header REMOTE_ADDR. I have server application that uses REMOTE_ADDR and other headers for identifying clients beyond cookies (which can easily be forged or stolen). For load tests I'd have to send requests from PCs with "different" internal IP addresses. As far as I know the REMOTE_ADDR is only for information purposes and is not involved in any low-level network routing and addressing. Anybody has an idea? Hello, I have some textboxes that are doing addition: Dim AString As Double AString = Convert.ToDouble(TextBox1.Text) - Convert.To(DoubleTextBox2.Text) TextBox3.Text = AString.ToString("#,##0.00;(#,##0.00);0.00") When the result is negative it is displayed as "(46)" or whatever the value is. This makes it impossible to test for a negative number to make further additions: TextBox5.text = Convert.ToDouble(TextBox3.text) + Convert.ToDouble(Textbox4.text) Is there a work-around for this?     - Forms inheritance best practice My application will have various forms for editing my business objects. All the objects to be edited on the various forms will either derive from a common class or implement a common interface. Let's just say it's an interface for sake of this discussion. There is a lot of common functionality between the forms, of course. Using forms inheritance seemed like a great way to reuse that common code. Of course there are some parts of the common code that need to interact with the interface, but the actual business object appropriate for the particular derived form will of course be instantiated by the derived form. The controls specific to editing that type of business object will of course be on the derived form. So, it seemed logical to create some abstract methods and properties in the base form. That means the class itself must be abstract. Not so fast - the designer complains it needs to instantiate the base class and can't because it's abstract. Hmmm.. That leaves me with two options that I can see. I'm just wondering which is considered a better practice, or if there's a third I haven't thought of. 1) Declare protected fields (of the interface Type) in the base form which could be set directly in the derived form in all the appropriate places. 2) Declare the needed methods and properties as virtual in the base class.     - Problems running .NET apps on other machines I'm fairly new to distributing .NET applications, and so far no one is able to use the apps I create. They do run on all 3 of my machines. I include the dotnetfxredist with the setup files. One person cannot even install the framework from Windows Update. It's giving them errors and I'm unable to troubleshoot over the phone. This pretty much blows since I've spent so much time developing in .NET for my user base and they cannot use it! Is there a way to convert my app to Windows executable or something?     - intranet and framework basics I'm trying to get a Windows Forms application to work on an intranet (not including my dev. comp.) It gives me the "unhandled exception error" so I found an article about strong names. I'm still lacking the basic knowledge of what's goig on when an application runs. First of all, does the server on which the application exists have to have the Framework installed or does the application run on the client machines? (What happens when they doubleclick the exe-file on the network share?) Once I copied the Strong name assemblies to the server I'm supposed to configure CAS Policy with custom code group, using Mscorcfg.msc. Where do I do that? On the Server or the Client machines?     - method call only from "allowed" assemblies Hi, I was thinking of a "security concept" (- although it may already exist in the .NET Framework): to allow only some assemblies to call a method form another assembly... something like... a public method can be called by another assembly within an application but also by anyone from outside; this mechanism would check at method level/above method level who is calling and allow/disallow the call.     - HTTP violation Hi I've made a part of a program that makes a http web request with .net classes HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse. It's been working fine up til now when one of our customers has been recieving the following WebException: "The underlying connection was closed: The server committed an HTTP protocol violation. " I've been "googling" a bit and read that it might help to set the KeepAlive property to false and set the http version to 1.0, but neither have helped.     - Key processing in .NET Is there any good article about processing keys in .net ? I see things like ProcessDialogKey, IsInputKey, IsInputChar, and mentions of preprocessing certain keys, and the whole area is confusing to me without a good general explanation. In Win32 I can override WM_GETDLGCODE in my derived control to handle certain dialog keys directly in my control ( arrows, tabs ). The documentation on processing keys which I am trying to understand does not make it plain how I can use the .net functionality to do what I want to do rather. Greetings, I'm writing an application that uses the Profiler API and the unmanaged metadata API to obtain metadata for modules from the ICorProfilerCallback::ModuleLoadFinished() event as well as for executables that I map into memory myself. In both cases I'm able to obtain the IModuleInfo iface and enumerate the methods. I've noticed that the method RVA returned by GetMethodProps() is sometimes a real RVA and sometimes an offset. This causes havok because I'm trying to access the method's bytecode in memory. If its an RVA I have to call ImageRvaToVa(), otherwise I just have to add it to the base load address. It seems to be treated as an offset if the CLR has loaded the module and as a RVA if the file was manually mapped into memory. Is this true? Strangely, Rotor always treats it as an RVA. If you look at CorMap::ReadHeaders() in cormap.cpp in Rotor you'll see a magic flag called bDataMap that proves that RVAs have a dual nature. Right now I have a kludge that calls ImageRvaToVa() and examines the first byte of the returned ptr. If its not TinyFormat or FatFormat then I treat the RVA as an offset. Is there a way, given a module's base load address, or perhaps a flag in the MethodProps, to determine if its RVAs are really RVAs or if they are offsets? Thanks! \\Marc Tag: Smartnav getting lost!     - Windows DataGrid client area is not redrawn after grid is refilled Hi, I have a problem with Windows forms datagrid control. This problem appeared only after I have installed .net framework 1.1 service pack1. Basically after grid is refilled either with new datatable or a view derived from that datatable I can see a gray cell on the client area of the grid if grid is empty (meaning that underlying datatable did not have any rows). If on the other hand grid is refilled with some data I can see a cell that was definitely left over from previous datatable. I suspect that when Microsoft released sp1 they messed up something in internal implementation of paint capablities of the grid control. So, my question is this. We have an app that continues to lose it's smartnavigation functionality.
The first time it happened, I ran aspnet_regiis -c and it started working
again.
The next time it happened again, I looked and the asnet client folder and
1_1_4322 foolder was there...but aspnet_regiis -c still fixed it.
So, about every 3-4 hours I have to run aspnet_regiis -c to fix the problem.
Any ideas why I keep losing the mappings and/or client scripts somehow?
