    - NUnit and the Configuration Management Application Block We are using the Configuration Management Application Block of the MSDN site to handle configuration information for our system. We would also like to use NUnit to run daily unit tests. Our problem is that we can't get our assemblies to see the configuration information they require when they run in the NUnit context. Hi there, Could someone help me over my lack of knowledge here? I am trying to find out why, when I use the same key pair, and the assembly version is constant, does the public key change with each Rebuild All in VS 2003? This sort of behavior will change the assembly strong name which is a Bad Thing when trying to actually use code beyond the development environment...     - Out of Process execution and .NET Sorry for the cross-posting but I really need some help here. I posted before but didn't get any responses so I am trying my luck again. I have a fairly simple scenario that is complicated by the ASPNET userid security model and my need to access network file shares. We currently have an executable that performs a data merge with data from a database into some RTF documents. Then, it takes the RTF doc and converts it to a PDF doc. All this works fine from the command line. It also works fine when everything (RTF doc and resulting PDF doc) reside on the webserver machine. However, if I change the location of the RTF doc from the local machine to a network file share, I get file access exceptions. I understand that this is because the ASPNET account is local and does not have network permissions. However, I have tried impersonating and that does not work either. I have impersonated at the application level using Web.Config file and at the code block level using the WindowsImpersonationContext object. The sequence of processes is: 1) Call the web service to perform the Document Merge 2) The web service makes a call to a Remoting Server 3) The MegerEngine.exe program is executed from the Remoting server 4) Control is passed back to the web service and then confirmation is returned to the calling user. The code I am executing is: Process p = new Process(); p.StartInfo.FileName = @"c:\temp\MergeEngine.exe"; p.StartInfo.Arguments = @"c:\temp\rtfmerge\test1.ini"; p.Start(); p.WaitForExit(); The only difference between successful execution and failure is access a network file share. The reference to the network file share is in the INI file that is passed as a parameter to MergeEngine.exe. I have also tried using asserts but that has not proven successful either.     - Best way to launch an application (with UI) on a remote machine?? I have a c# windows form that talks to a web service on a server that then can talk to multiple "agents" on different machines using web service calls. I want to be able to launch an application of the users choice on the remove, "agent" machine. I've discovered that Process.Start() won't work because it runs under asp.net and it will launch any "process" but if the application has a windows UI it will not show. any recommendations for the best way to launch applications on these agent machines from my c#/windows forms app. The agent can pass any needed info about the machine back to the client and does already let the user browse around the machines directory/file structure (it's how they choose the app to launch). thanks mike PS remove the x from my domain if you'd like to reply to me directly.     - failure to install Framework 1.1 setup I downloaded .NET Framework SDK version 1.1 to install as the new Print Shop Pro Publisher 20 requires it. It gets part way through installation and stops and says "ended prematurely. Contact Product Support". What is wrong.     - Corrupted .NET Framework installation 1.1 Hello, my .NET installation seems to be corrupted. I have the following problems: 1. No Windows Forms .NET application is running at all (not even the default Forms1 application after creating a new Windows Forms project in VS 2003). A System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMExeption is always thrown. I already tried to fix the problem by deinstalling .NET Framework and VS 2003 and reinstalling both again (but no effect).     - Response.End Hi, I have and ASPX Page. On submitting the for I write out soem text to soem server side labels. I then to a Response.End having done this. The update to the server side labesl does not get pushed out to the client. What do I have to do to get these changes on the server out to the client. I need to do a Response.End as I am streaming a download. If I comment out my Response.End I haveno problem. I have tried Response.Flushh and it gives me the same problem.     - Exception Handling in C# Hi, I am after some advice on the best approach to passing exceptions through the layers of my application. Rather than placing try/catch statements in my data, business & UI layers I have hooked up a ThreadExceptionEventHandler event to act upon any exceptions in any of the methods invoked. This way I can determine the exception via the ThreadExceptionEventArgs Exception.GetType() method and perform the necessary application logic.     - binary serialization incompatibility between 1.0 and 1.1 I serilze a array of classes in an application complied with 1.0 using custom binary serilization. Following is the deserilizing code: MyClass[] _c = (MyClass[])info.GetValue("MyClass", typeof (MyClass[])); In 1.0, everything works fine. The MyClass' constructor got invoked right after the above line. But when I debug it under 1.1, _c came out with correct dimension but all array elements are invalid until the whole deserilizing is finished, which is too late for me, since I have to do something immidiately after this line of code, and the action will depend on the content in _c, I am pretty much hosted.     - Simple question on Framework 1.0 to 1.1 conversion Hi all, We are using Framework 1.0 for all our ASP.NET and Windows application projects. We plan on going to Framework 1.1. On MSDN, they say that for Windows application, we have to add a section in the configuration file so the application will be forced to use the 1.1 framework. For an ASP.NET Application, on installing, the 1.1 Framwork, the ISAPI filter will automatically change to the 1.1 filter at the root of IIS. So, by default, the ASP.NET will use the new framework if not told different on the web site level. But what about a class library project or assemblies that are in the GAC? Is there a way for those components to use the 1.1 framework and not having them to be recompiled with VS 2003? The SpecialFolder Enumeration does not contain a member which retrieves the corresponding path for "All Users" (i.e. c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents which appears as "Shared Documents" in Windows Explorer). Seems to me this is a serious ommission. Without this, how does one write a program that can be installed to run either for the current user or All Users of the machine? Why isn't there a member, say, named "CommonDocuments". There is a member named "ApplicationData" and a member named "CommonApplicationData".     - .NET security question A coworker is trying to run a .Net winforms application from a network share (shared from my computer). When he tries to execute it, he gets a "Request Failed" message - a bit of poking reveals that this is a security issue, presumably from running on a network share (and accessing a DB on the network share) without any permissions set on the app. Setting the trust level to full access fixes the problem, but when I recompile an put a new copy there, he has to go through that process again. Is there a way that I can release new builds without him having to 're-trust'? Does signing assemblies help in here? Also, is there anything an app can do, aside from detect and degrade/exit gracefully when network access is denied?     - VS.NET add-in question I am trying to create a Visual Studio Add-in that accesses a database project. The problem is that I cannot access the database project object in the solution using the Projects.Item method. The only way I can get the object is using a for..each on the Solution.Projects Collection as follows: For Each oProj In applicationObject.Solution.Projects MsgBox(oProj.Name) Next When I step the debug run and hit the database project in the above for..each loop, all members on the project are null. If I try to execute the MsgBox(oProj.Name) against the object, the Add-In stops running and I'm returned to the IDE as if nothing happened. All other projects in the solution (VB.NET, C# and Setup projects) have associated project objects that appear correctly (all members are populated.) Any ideas on why this is happening? For example: BorderStyleChanged. There is almost no reason for anybody to listen to this and do something about it... 2) If the change of the property requires additional actions (like the invalidation of some areas or childred, some layout recalculations, and so on), where should these action be put: in the OnSomeProperty change method, before or after the raise of the event? Or in the property's set method? I see some pros and cons: putting it in the On... allows the inheritor to completely override all actions that happen due to the property being changed. However, to assure that the control (if it's a control) is properly redrawn perhaps the call to Invalidate should be in the set method? How can i get the list of applications that appears on
the "New" option when i right-click in Windows.

I mean, first u right click, then select the option "New"
and u can see a list of items that u can create, for
example a winzip or a word file.

My question is how can i get that list?
