1. SQL Server 2005 install more secure. Open the configuration tool and turn
on TCP/IP or named pipes (or both). On a production machine you will want to
think this through a bit more, but this is good for development.
2. If you are getting at the computer remotely, you may also need to turn on
the SQL Browser service.
Follow those 2 and you should be fine.
