    - WPF textbox autogrow Using WPF 3.5, I have a textbox with it's TextWrapping property set to WrapWithOverflow. When the number of lines increases in the textbox, how can I make the height of the textbox grow to accommodate the all of the lines?     - Application Physical Path Can anyone tell me how to get the physical path where an application lives? What I mean by an application is either a Windows Service or a Winforms application. I know in asp.net Server.MapPath is what's used. I need some type of equivelent for a non asp.net application. The reason I need this is that I'm trying to write a file to a folder on a server that I don't have access to. The only access I have is a mapped drive to the machine where my Windows Service is going to be installed. What I would like to do is get the physical path to a directory which is actually a sub-directory of a web site on this machine. From a packet capture I learned that my application is responding with an ICMP Port Unreachable after the remote responds to my query. Example: Me -> Remote: UDP request (valid request) Remote -> Me: UDP response (valid response) Me -> Remote: ICMP Port Unreachable (with a copy of the response attached to the ICMP message) Port numbers do match, so do my payload sequencenumbers. I'm just getting my feet wet with System.Net.HttpListener (actually trying to sort out what a legacy app is doing with it). At first, the whole thing was confusing; I'm used to one process being able to own a socket on a port, so this whole multiple listeners, possibly conflicting with IIS befuddled me a little. Did some research and found the pages about HTTP.sys and the new functionality. A couple of questions (perhaps picayune) that I didn't see answered: 1) Which os process loads up http.sys and facilitates the many processes/one port functionality? 2) The MSDN page for System.Net.HttpListener says that it needs Xp sp2 or 2003 to use - *but* Xp comes with IIS 5.1, not 6.0. The other pages I found said that IIS 5.1 was built with winsock and is still bound to the 1-port/1-process model, while IIS 6+ was re-coded around the new HTTP.sys functionality. So when the System.Net.HttpListener docs say Xp sp2 at a minimum, I'm inferring that that means "and either you use different ports or turn off IIS 5.1". Correct? Hi all, I've been dabbling with various aspects of the new 3.5 technologies and I can tell there's loads of potential for creating powerful new applications, but I'm finding it tough to know where and how to start. I've been coding on .NET since it was in its alpha incarnation way back in 2000, but this latest version is a bit daunting. There are so many new technologies to learn and many of them seem to have fairly steep learning curves. Has anyone else found the same thing? I want to release new versions of several applications ranging from a simple desktop end-user app to an n-tier corporate app, and the promises of some of these new technologies are very tempting. I'd love to use XAML for the front end, skin the apps, introduce some simple animations to make the GUI more intuitive etc. One of my n-tier suites would benefit from peer-to-peer chat so I'm thinking WCF might be good for that. Printing has always been a point of contention but it seems that WPF documents could change all of that. I have no idea if WF could be of benefit to any of my apps, because I simply don't know enough about what it's for! The problem is, where to start? I've found plenty of "hello world" samples for XAML and examples illustrating some of its concepts, but the few tutorials I've found seem a bit lacking. XPS documentation is abysmal, and I haven't even scratched the surface of WCF --- of course, this ignores things like WF, CardSpace, SilverLight, XBAP etc etc. I can't even seem to see many dedicated newsgroups on the MS server for things like WPF, which I find quite amazing. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place? At the moment I feel that if I were to just dive in and start coding, I'd look at my work a few months later and wish I'd done most of it differently, or would find so many better and easier ways to achieve what I'd just done that would have cut my production time in half. For instance, when printing with WPF should I just go right ahead and start coding the document structure or could I use a tool like Expression to create some sort of document template visually (and no doubt a lot more easily)? What I'd love to find is a proper, MS (or MS endorsed) soup-to-nuts application that covers all or most of the above technologies and uses them with best practices in mind for a real world scenario, complete with source code and some decent documentation. I want all the controls to be anchored top/left so when I do the final resizing of the window, all the controls sit in the same position. However, as I place controls toward the right side of the form, the left alignment changes to right, and the margin changes from ##,##,0,0 ##,##,##,0 to 0,##,##,0. so to position the control just as I want, I have to painfully edit he margin values. In some cases, when the control is on the right side of the form and the control has the value of ##,##,0,0, the left margin is not what I would expect and the control repositions its self in a place that doesn't make sense. After some experimenting I was able to come up with the following code snippet that receives the callback with a filled in FORMATETC and allows me to save the lindex value. Unfortunately, I am now stumped at how to forward the callback to the .Net framework copy of IDataObject.GetData so that the request can be processed by the framework and ultimately forwarded to my override of DataObject.GetData. The location that I would want to forward the request is marked as "TODO:". I'm thinking about throttling the IOCP threads by only allowing up to MAX connections to be accepted at any given time where MAX is less than the number of threads in the System.ThreadPool. So, for example, if the current number of accepted sockets is N (where N < MAX), accepting a new connection increments N and closing an accepted socket decrements N. If N == MAX, then no more new connections will be accepted until N is decremented. While N == MAX, newly established TCP connections simply queue up in the kernel waiting to be accepted.     - Missing Assembly Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo while using ClickOnce deployment I'm using vs08 / vb2.0 and am trying to use click once deployment. when I run the click once installation i get the following error msg: "Unable to install or run the application. The application requires that assembly Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo Version 9.0.242.0 be installed in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) first." I have .net 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 already installed on the target machine and I set the publish status to 'Include' for all required files including this one. In the application files window, I set the publish status to 'Include' on all of this type of files, but in the publish package none of them are included. By the way, under options, I unchecked 'use deploy file extensions incase that was confusing the target machine. Before when this option was checked, all of these files (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo.dll and Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo.dll.deploy, and many more) WERE included. However, I still got this error msg. It seems I just can't get past this point. I'm surprised that this is such a big problem and have seen very little info on it. In VS2005, ClickOnce worked with IE, and with FireFox if the user had
installed the plug-in.

In VS2008, ClickOnce works with IE, FireFox, Opera, and Safari. At least,
that's the ones we've tested so far. :-)
