 - .NET - problem with application Hello. I've wery weird problem with some of programs, that usually works fine (including my laptop). I think it's concernred with .NET Problem is: When I launch Photoshop CS2 (problems are with localized pl version and us tryout as well) I got message (in Polish): "Culture ID xxxxx (0xyyyyy) is not a supported culture" Codes of culture looks like random number - each PS launch create several errors with the same code. Not all programs create this kind of "conflicts" with PS. When I click "close" an other than cs3 program is terminated ( like ATI Control Centre, or NikonCapture NX), when i click "Ignore" (several times) - finally everything works fine. Re-installation of .NET does not help (I've already re-installed all installed versions: 1.1, 2 and 3) Non of other programs from Adobe behave this way. Is there any method to find what can be done? Hw to trace error?(I do not expect ready solutions). But now, my problem is the following. I want to export the .net object in1 created in the code I want to compile.  - Problems with managed classes I've got two classes, ObjClass1 and ObjClass2. I need them to both know about one another but I can't include the header twice because of a "type redefinition" even though it's the same file. So I tried to undef __OBJCLASS1 in ObjClass2.h to try to fix that problem, but then it says that I'm redefining ObjClass1 since ObjClass1's header includes ObjClass2.h which includes ObjClass1 again. At this point I figured I would just put a forward declaration in each header: ref class ObjClass1; ref class ObjClass2; But when I do this and try to call a function in the object, the compiler complains that it has no clue what ObjClass1 and ObjClass2 are.  - Basic question about threading. Hello all, I am completely new to threading and am sorry if this sounds stupid. I am developing a class which extends from ApplicationException class. Basically this class (MyException) captures local and instance variables and method parameters at the time of exception. This exception is then propogated upwards and goes on collecting the above mentioned information of all the method/classes through which it bubbles. For this purpose i have a "Dictionary<string, Snapshot> methodStates" in MyException which holds all the information. Finally i override the ToString method of ApplicationException to provide a nice view of all the data that my class contains. Anyway, now since ApplicationException is not thread safe 1)Does this mean that MyException is also not thread safe even if i lock methodStates collection whenever i access it? Is it that, if BaseClass is not threadSafe then DerivedClass cannot be thread safe no matter what you do. 2)Will the locking of the methodStates make sure that atleast my dictionary is thread safe? 3)What is it that makes ApplicationException not thread safe? From my limited knowledge, i know that a class with a mutable state is considered not thread safe. Basically i want to know if all the care that i am taking to lock my dictionary is worth anything at all. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. The only difference between UAT and QA is the certificate (which is valid) and the environment (QA vs UAT).  - Using Timer: the application thread count keeps increasing Hi I am developing a scientific application which has moderate level image processing involved. In my application, there is a main application form which invokes another form. When this form is running, a timer function keeps executing every 250ms. The timer function does some real time data processing and generates a bitmap which needs to be displayed on a picture control. This is done using this->Invoke(...) in the form. I am using System.Threading.Timer. Now, in the Form_CLosing event, I am disposing the timer. I have following code for that. (C# programmers dont mind the syntax. It is C+ +/CLI) AutoResetEvent^ disposeEvent = gcnew AutoResetEvent(false); processingTimer->Dispose(disposeEvent); disposeEvent->WaitOne(); delete processingTimer; Despite this I observe that if I contineously Open and Close my form, the thread count (as seen in the task manager window) for my application keeps increasing. Also, sometimes the disposeEvent object does get set and the code hangs at WaitOne(). The reason for this could be that a particular timer instance must be waiting to finish InvokeRequired(...) and the main thread is waiting on the disposeEvent to get set (Deadlock situation). So I tried using System.Timers.Timer() which has better methods like Stop() and Close(). Now the hang problem is resolved. However the thread count keeps increasing. One thing could be that .NET is executing timer function on thread pool threads and just keeping then in suspended mode. However the thread count keeps increading until 130+ (I tested only this far) and hence I am worried. Is there a way to control the thread count? This seems like a standard problem. But I can't get Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Configuration to run (from Control Panel \ Administrative Tools) - every time I open it #, it looks as though it is starting, opens up a window showing the MMC console root, .NET Framework 2.0 in the tree and a pane with all the tasks I'd expect (like Manage the Assembly Cache) - then promptly pops up a windows saying "Microsoft Management Console has stopped working" giving me the options to check online for a solution or just close the program.  - User Agent String not passed during HTTP CONNECT w/ proxy I have written an application to access a web service. The application runs at multiple sites and must cross a proxy server. The application runs fine through all proxy servers but one that is configured to require a "User-Agent" header. I have added the user agent string, however it does not seem to be passed during the HTTP CONNECT to utilize the proxy server. It does pass the user agent on requests to the server hosting the web service though. As and aside, IE does send the "User-Agent" during the HTTP CONNECT. Is there any way to emulate this? Many Google searches have turned up one link that expresses the same issue (http://thedotnet.com/nntp/358127/showpost.aspx) it was from 2005 and didn't have an answer. Any help would be appreciated.  - This source file has changed. It no longer matches the version... I'm using VS 2005 version 8.0.50727.762 SP .050727-7600. I have a c# ASP project. Lately, when I've been running the project in the IDE, I get a dialog which says... "This source file has changed. It no longer matches the version of the file used to build the application being debugged" I've gone into the Tools/Options and went to the Debugging/Edit and Continue and tried turning it off (I originally turned it on), shut down the project and restarted...but I'm still getting the message intermittently.  - ADOX with managed C++ I'm trying to create an Access DB programmatically as I have before, but trying it managed now. I first imported ADOX 2.8, then reverted back to 2.7 when it didn't seem to work in 2.8. ADOX::Catalog^ catalog = gcnew ADOX::Catalog(); catalog->Create(ConnectionString); When I type catalog-> I do not get a choice of Tables. I get lots of other things, like Users, Views, etc. I tried typing it in and compiling anyway, and it's undefined. catalog->Tables->Append(Table1); Is there some reason I can't get Tables from catalog?  - ASP.NET Membership Provider with custom Profile - how to access all user's profile I am creating a ASP.NET 2.0 application using the ASP.NET Membership Provider. I want to access the Profile information of the other user's in the Membership database. Not just the membership info (username,email, lastLoginDate, etc), but also the customer profile info that I have declared in the web.config in the <profile> section (first name, last name, phone #, etc) Does anyone have any articles with sample code that I can use to get an idea of how to implement this into my current architecture?  - Release is slower than debug... What's happening? Hi, I have a windows service that only loads a CSV file and import it's data using SqlBulkCopy in a newly created Sql Server 2005 table using 25000 rows batches. If I build the service in debug mode and run it, I get descent performances. If I build it in release mode, I would expect it to at least stay as fast and maybe be faster, but I actually lose performance. I lose about 10% performance. How can this happen?  - TCP Connection Age information required Hello TcpConnectionInformation Class gives information about local end point remote end point and state of a connection is there any way to find out the time stamp at which connection was created. I basically want to find out the age of a connection. I think there is no unique way to identify a connection i.e. if there is a connection between endpoints A and B at time x then there is no way to differentiate this connection from some old connection between enpoints A and B and some preious time y if the endpoints are exactly same i.e they have the same port also.  - UserControl purpose question ... I'm implementing a Windows application in C# .Net 2.0. On many of the forms I need to have record navigation capabilities (forwards, backwards, first, last etc) which I chose a to do with a toolbar containg 7 buttons or so. 1. Rather than recreating the same toolbar (navBar) in the dozen or so locations I need it, is this a case where I could use the UserControl? 2.  - LINQ code generation? I'm not clear on this - does LINQ just use a code generator to give the developer classes that represent stored procedures?
