    - FP View of CSS Site I am trying to learn the use of CSS and am getting along slowly but surely. One issue I can't figure out is the design view in FP. I created a one page site from a template with CSS attached. Everything works fine but in the design view, the page appears as if there is not enough room on the 'table'. The text and buttons wrap to the next line and a strange column appears to the right of the area. When I click on preview, everything appears fine as does when I publish the site. If nothing else it has got me working a lot closer to the coding but it is a bit infuriating. Any enlightenment would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.     - FP Templates & Javascript/Image Rollovers I've made a nice banner with image rollovers for the top of my page in Adobe Photoshop 6/ImageReady. Since I have triple-digit number of pages to create/update, I made a dynamic template to help speed-up page creation and quicken page updates. I had ImageReady export the HTML and setup the display of the images in CSS (instead of making a table), plus it created some JavaScript to handle the rollovers. Everything works fine, except that the relative links (i.e.- images/bannerimgs/image_01.jpg) don't change to reflect where it is in the site's directory tree. Therefore, if I make the template off the root, then apply it to a page in a subdirectory, none of the relative links work because it's still showing the same path as if it was from the root. FrontPage will change the relative links in hyperlink tags in the page, but not in the JavaScript. The only work-around I've been able to come up with is to create multiple templates of the same template, just change the javascript relative URLs in each template depending on what page it will be applied to. This to me seems like an inefficient way of doing it. Is there any way of making the javascript code more "universal" while still maintaining the relative paths so that I can use just ONE template for all pages - even ones buried 2 to 3 subfolders deep?     - Sync Problems Using FP 2000 with a Linux ISP and Front Page Extensions enabled. I have been using this setup for some time but the file sync doesn't seem to function the way I thought it would. I have at least one file that always is uploaded even though this file has not changed in over 3 months. I updated another file with the same name but with a newer time stamp and it did not get uploaded. I had to change the name in order to force it to update. FP did recognize that the old file was still on the server and ask me if I wanted to remove it, so that works OK. I noticed there are about 40 files, images, button gifs, etc that are on the server but are not on my devl system any more, why don't these guys get deleted? Is there a way to synchronize these two systems so that only files currently in use are present on both systems?     - Frontpage 2003 Bug, IE6 Bug or Windows Font Bug? I have tried everything I can think of to figure this out. When I use Arial 1 (8 pt) for a vertical menu, and if the first character is a capital "W", when viewed in IE6, the first two stacked pixels forming the top left corner of the "W" are cutoff (cuts off pixels horizonally by one pixel). I have confirmed this by looking at the overlay files. Unfortunately, just editing the overlay files does not cure the problem. Can someone see if they can reproduce the problem. I am wondering if it is just my computer, or a bug in FP, IE, or Windows. Here are the steps (takes about two minutes, maybe less if you are a proficient FP user). 1) Start FP 2003, and create a new site using the Corporate Presence Wizard. Just keep clicking Next to get through the steps, and finally Finish. 2) After the site is created, go to Format, Theme, and select the Website Default Theme which is Journal. 3) Click the down arrow, and select Customize, click the Graphics button, then for item select "Vertical Navigation". Click the Font tab, and change the font to Arial size 1 (it is critical that this font be used, since the other fonts and sizes appear to be OK). 4) Click OK twice to save change, and rename theme to another temporary name. 5) Click the Website tab at the top, and click the Navigation button at the bottom. 6) Right click on "News", and select Rename. Change the name from "News" to "WNews". Make sure you use a capital "W", not lowercase. 7) Hit the F12 key to preview the page in the browser. Does your system cut the top left of the "W" off?     - Email in Form code Hi, Since I am getting massive amounts of spam, I am changing all the email addresses to escapes - mail etc. It might help! But I noticed that in the code side of a FrontPage form, the email address shows up written normally. I wonder if it is possible to write the address, using the escape sequences, in the form properties, or to change them in the code (and still have them work!).     - It's a killer, ASP code gets wiped out when opening Web in FP I'm using FP2000 and have a couple of dozen ASP pages stored in a subfolder named ASP. I use MS-script editor to edit these pages and use FP to initially set up the pages and work with the HTML pages in the "root" directory. The killer is whenever I open up my local site using the "open web" option, some of the VBScript coding in the ASP pages gets wiped out. It appears any code above the HTML tag are OK. I looking at pages I've kept as back up and those that have gotten clobbered, I don't see a pattern right off. The code that is getting deleted are the first group of lines after the body tag. Then the some HTML code that is OK and yet the next set of VBscript coding lines are OK. Yet this is not true for all pages, some "1st group" blocks of code in the body are OK. Obviously I'm relying on my backups of ASP; but, with the hours of coding involved and trying to publish via FP, the code stripping is a disaster waiting to happen... Any help please Jim T.     - FP 2003 tables/cells I've just created a site using tables and I've checked it out on four different computers and on two everything is even and matches but on the other two some of the cells stretch longer horizontally across the page. Also, some of the page is cut off and you have to use the scroll bar on the bottom to see everything. one who can't get in & even put front page new on my lap top & can't get in.
I've ckd with the dsl paople & my web host & say everything is fine.
