    - Moving a Photo Gallery I have created a photo gallery in a FrontPage website and am trying to move it to a new website. The photo gallery does not recognize the html pages created by the original photo gallery from the first website.     - Store images on different web server than text I am trying to do a quick and dirty web page just to report a trip to interested friends. The report includes lots of pictures. My ISP provides only 10MB of storage. While I have found others that will allow larger files to be uploaded, they always have a lot of garbage preceding them; I want the reader to be able to go direct to the web page. I placed my images in photobucket.com. In using FrontPage to develop the text, I am doing something wrong in inserting the images so that they do not get uploaded to the "text" server (my ISP). This is the code I use; please show me how to have the image show when someone loads it but not have all those images loaded into the ISP. (Hope this is clear.) Or, a better alternative at this point would be to point me to a web hosting site that is free and will not have all the "garbage" but will go direct to my web page.     - Search Engine Optimization question Regarding search engine optimization, does it make a difference where your pages are located? My root directory contains "index.html", but all of the subsequent web pages are located in the "documents" directory. Should I move my most important pages to the root directory?     - MS Expression Web Designer Hi, Has anyone tested Expression Web Designer? I've used it for two days so far (working on a live site) and found it, as claimed, is easy to use and retains most functions of FrontPage in addition to the new ones. It is also different than Visual Web Developer 2005 Express edition which is buggy and resource draining. Although there are some small bugs and problems (consider it is a community review version), the overall performance is pretty stable - knock 3 times. One particular thing that I am very pleased about this edition, and that is it will not force you to go through and correct all "possible coding errors" (as VWD would) before allowing to view a page in design view. Why is this important? Yes, we made many mistakes during developing Web pages (especially for those like myself who are not professional programmers), such as not inserting "alt attributes" for images, and putting incorrect attributes (e.g. marginwidth) in wrong places - and many of those are done by our ex-best friend - FrontPage. But why do we have to correct each of them (image how many of them if one had used FP for developing Web pages throughout the past years) before we can even see a page in the Design View? That requirement is totally ridiculous. For those who are concerned the discontinued of FrontPage, I'd encourage you to download and try Expression Web Designer. Once thing that I am not so happy about the current community version though is about sending web pages through Outlook and the lack of "mail merge" capability as in Word. When I try to email web page within EWD, Outlook automatically block the page as "unsafe" attachment. This will not happen if using FrontPage. And when I work with FP 2003 for mail merging newsletters to subscribers, I had to save it to a local copy and open with Word 2003 and perform mail merger. I would expect this can be improved with EWD so that we can use mail merge directly with EWD. Finally, does anyone have any inside information about the final release date of EWD and its possible pricing? That's all for now and hope this helps.     - Access hyperlinks not showing correctly I'm creating a database in Access that I want to link to a webpage using Frontpage. The database contains scholarship information, so I want to display the scholarship name on the webpage, but have it link to the PDF file that has a description of the scholarship. I've figured out how to get a hyperlink into an Access database field, but I am having problems with the results that are coming up on the webpage. I'm following the instructions that say to put the TITLE that you want the viewer to see, then a "#" sign, and then the FILENAME. What is coming up, though, on the webpage is the entire string. For example, I type into the database: John Smith Scholarship#smithscholarship.pdf. I want "John Smith Scholarship" to show on the webpage as a hyperlink and then link to the smithscholarship.pdf that is in the same folder. What shows on the webpage is "John Smith Scholarship#smithscholarship.pdf" as a hyperlink. How do I get rid of the file name? The second problem I'm having is linking to the PDF that is in the same folder as the database and webpage. I've tried using "John Smith Scholarship#smithscholarship.pdf" and "John Smith Scholarship#\smithscholarship.pdf" and "John Smith Scholarship#/smithscholarship.pdf." The only thing that works and links to the file is if I use the entire web address: ""John Smith Scholarship#http://myschool.com/smithscholarship.pdf" But there again, it shows the entire string on the webpage instead of just what I'm telling it to show for text, which is "John Smith Scholarship."     - Graphics do not display Hi Everybody, A. I have Front Page 2002 SP3. B. I have WINDOWS XP with SP2 and Internet Explorer V9.0.2900. I have a large number of HTM files which I downloaded from the COREL graphics site over the years. Recently, I have found that when I open most of these files, the images do not display. They do not display in Internet Explorer, Front Page 2002, or Word XP. Yet at one time the images did indeed display along with the text. The original sub-folders with the same name still are in the same parent folder as the HTM file. Strangely enough, right clicking on the blank image and then clicking on properties, correctly identifies the image -- usually a JPEG or GIF. However, the only display within the file is a blank box with a red X. A few HTM files do open properly -- i.e. the images are displayed when the file is opened. Most do not. I can open the images in the sub-folder separately with a graphics program like Adobe PhotoShop. 1. What could have happened? 2. Is there a way to trouble shoot this problem? 3.     - Query Database with 2 dropdowns I am trying to create a webpage that will allow users to specifiy what data they would like to look at in a database by using two dropdown menus. The users selects a grade level and the results are suppose to go to subject page. The page displays but the dropdowns are blank.     - FP View of CSS Site I am trying to learn the use of CSS and am getting along slowly but surely. One issue I can't figure out is the design view in FP. I created a one page site from a template with CSS attached. Everything works fine but in the design view, the page appears as if there is not enough room on the 'table'. The text and buttons wrap to the next line and a strange column appears to the right of the area. When I click on preview, everything appears fine as does when I publish the site.     - FP Templates & Javascript/Image Rollovers I've made a nice banner with image rollovers for the top of my page in Adobe Photoshop 6/ImageReady. Since I have triple-digit number of pages to create/update, I made a dynamic template to help speed-up page creation and quicken page updates. I had ImageReady export the HTML and setup the display of the images in CSS (instead of making a table), plus it created some JavaScript to handle the rollovers. Everything works fine, except that the relative links (i.e.- images/bannerimgs/image_01.jpg) don't change to reflect where it is in the site's directory tree. Therefore, if I make the template off the root, then apply it to a page in a subdirectory, none of the relative links work because it's still showing the same path as if it was from the root. FrontPage will change the relative links in hyperlink tags in the page, but not in the JavaScript. The only work-around I've been able to come up with is to create multiple templates of the same template, just change the javascript relative URLs in each template depending on what page it will be applied to. This to me seems like an inefficient way of doing it. Is there any way of making the javascript code more "universal" while still maintaining the relative paths so that I can use just ONE template for all pages - even ones buried 2 to 3 subfolders deep?     - Sync Problems Using FP 2000 with a Linux ISP and Front Page Extensions enabled. I have been using this setup for some time but the file sync doesn't seem to function the way I thought it would. I have at least one file that always is uploaded even though this file has not changed in over 3 months. I updated another file with the same name but with a newer time stamp and it did not get uploaded. I had to change the name in order to force it to update. FP did recognize that the old file was still on the server and ask me if I wanted to remove it, so that works OK. I noticed there are about 40 files, images, button gifs, etc that are on the server but are not on my devl system any more, why don't these guys get deleted? I have a crystal report I want to display from our intranet web-page. I
have a picture that has a hyperlink to a directory on my server. I want
to open the only file in this directory (WeeklybyResp.rpt) when the end
users click on the picture. I get an error saying this page can't be
displayed. I think I have to set-up my web-page to talk with crystal
reports on my server? Most of the computers the report will be
displayed on don't have Crystal Reports installed on them but I know
you can have Crystal reports on the server side open the file to handle
this but I am not sure where or how to do this?Can anyone help me with
this?

You need to contact Crystal Report support or post to their newsgroup, if they have one, as this is
not a FP related issue.
