Did you actually use
http:// publish to the remote server, or FTP? You must
http publish to a site with the FP server extensions installed, or forms
won't work. Plus, it must likely will corrupt the extensions which your
host will have to repair or reinstall.
Regarding permissions on the hit counter, contact your host.

| Tom, thanks for replying to my post.
| I believe that I have an opening form tag. Is this it <form method="POST"
| action="../_vti_bin/shtml.dll/AquaticPlants/request_survey_lk.htm"
| name="Suggest Lakes" onSubmit="" webbot-action="--WEBBOT-SELF--"> ?
| I don't know what an IUSR_Machinename is or how to give it write
permissions
| on the _private folder (the only thing in the folder is index.htm.cnt
which
| when opened looks like FPCountFile 00000000000) . The FrontPage2003 book
| made it sound like inserting a hit counter was simple. It said that all I
| had to do was insert it and that all I would need it to be is a
server-baed
| web site stored on a server that has FrontPage Server Extensions, which my
| server does.
