When I get an error like the following, how do I trouble shoot it?

Line: 168
Char: 32
Error: Invalid Character
Code: 0
url: http://www.gualdese.com/images/menatplay2.htm

Front Page doesn't indicate line numbers so I am clueless as to how to
locate the error. Thanks for any help you can give me.

On mine the line numbers down the left edge of the code view. If yours
are missing, maybe there is an option to switch them off and on.

This is a browser settings issue.
Save a gif image to your computer.
Close Internet Explorer.
Right click the gif image and select "Open with.."

In the panel that opens scroll down to Internet Explorer.
Click once to select IE, check the box "Always open with" and then click OK or Apply.

Joy -
If you view the page in FP, HTML view, the line numbers appear in the very lower left
bottom corner of the screen (FP2002).

I don't get the error on that URL, but are you aware that many people do not have java
installed? Once it loads (looooooong time), it's a nice effect, but IMHO you'd be better
off using another display method. If I were looking for a graphics artist or web designer,
that would put me off big time.

FP2003 does show line numbers (Tools->Page Options - General Tab
FP2000, FP2002 indicate the line number at the bottom left of the HTML
view.

However, using the line numbers may not be helpful if you use include
files or shared borders - the line number shown does not take these
into account. In this case it may be better to open the page in a
text editor that does display line numbers (TextPad at
www.textpad.com, for example) to check the error, then correct it in
FrontPage. If you correct the error in the text editor, open the web
in FP and run
Tools->Recalculate Hyperlinks to update the FP meta data.
