Insertion of flash video clips
I am trying to put several short video clips on my site.
I can do it pretty easily using the Windows Media plug in but have no
control over the size of the display window.
I have converted the clips to flash and would like to use this format.
I just can't see a plug in which enables me to insert them onto a page
though.

Right Shared Boarder Alignment
I'm wanting to use Left, Top and Right Shared Boarders on my site redesign. I
have the masthead in the Top Shared Boarder and the Left Boarder contains a
table with the main navigation links. The body of each page is going to be in
a 720 pixel wide table. Is there a way to get the right shared boarder (which
will contain advertising) to be flush up to the right side of the main 720
pixel wide table? Right now, it's just sitting on the far side of my screen,
leaving a bunch of white space between it and the table...

can't get more stupid then this..
Hi,
When i use the "INSERT" into statement in DBRW in
a custom query-string and type in the proper
values ('::naam::') the result would that i get an
error specified as "Unable to find operator in query string.
Query string currently is Insert into invoer (naam) Values('::naam::')"
So it doesn't insert anything into my table, (=problem no1, the major
problem)
Now when i change the Values to ('naam') without the :: then it
does insert "naam" into my table but not the value that came from
the insert -form field. It inserts the word "naam". So the Insert
statement seems to work it only inserts the wrong value.
It actually inserts the values name. So it appears to start working
a bit ( i get no error messages like above) but now the right values.
Is there a way i can solve these (2) problems, i've been
looking at Microsoft MSDN, KB, FPsupport, but without
any positive result, Pls do help if you can.

Help with HTML please
I have some HTML code that doesn't do quite what I need. Can anyone help with
the following?
I've divided my home page into 3 columns. First column is pictures, second
is text, 3rd is navigation buttons. For SEO purposes, I want the 2nd column
to appear first in the HTML. I was kindly given some HTML code that creats a
table that achieves this: 2nd column is first, followed by 1st column,
followed by 3rd column.
I would like to change the order slightly so that it is: 2nd column first,
3rd column 2nd, 1st column last. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to the
following code to acheive this?

The code effectively creats a table with 2 cells in the first column, 1 on
the second, 2 in the third. By using the bottom cell of the first and last
column, the middle column appears first in the HTML. If you would like to see

Sending email or file download
I setup a site that a user can purchase a document, once purchased using
paypal I would like the user to download the document, or I would like to
send the file automatically. How would I email the file automatically after
purchase, or ensure that the user can only download the document once? This
way after a user makes the purchase, he/she can't give the link to anyone

FrontPage Dynamic Web Templates
I'm building a new site using Dynamic Web Templates, and they work
great so far, but now I'm starting to build the left side navigation
bars, which are different on certain sections of the site. Check out
this site and look at the side indented menu:

I want to be able to only make a change once if for example a
department name changes, or want to reorder the list, but I also want
these "sub menus" as shown.
What would be the best way to organize this? Would I have a separate

Cannot Add to database
Hi (again) to all,
Can anyone help me out with the following ?
I'm trying to "insert" records to my table called 'invoer' (yes, thats
dutch)
I followed a sample from "frontpagehowto.com" and used a custom
query-string like this :
Insert into invoer (naam) values ('::naam::')
The value comes from a page called insert.htm and the form
properties are set to 'send-to-other' and as action it would post to
addrecord.asp. (in my opinion this should work)
However when i publish the whole thing and enter some name
in the formfield 'naam' en click submit i keep getting the follwing error:
Database Results Wizard Error
The operation failed. If this continues, please contact your server
administrator.
I'm using FP2003 and the database connection works fine, also created pages
to display other
data and that works. The above sample is just a test-table i've created in
my database because
i actually need to store much more information into other tables.
Give the above information, can somebody tell me what i did wrong and why
it's not working?

Unable to Update Database Records
Sympton: The server has been performing adds, updates, deletes without any
problems (for at least a year now). As of last night all ASP pages that
perform the UPDATE statement stopped functioning. INSERT and SELECT
statements continue functioning normally. Nothing changed with the code and
the server administrator swears no changes were made on the server-end
(unless there was one of those "silent" Windows Updates, he admits. This is
the error message:
"Database Results Wizard Error
The operation failed. If this continues, please contact your server
administrator."
Environment: Windows 2003 Server, Web Edition; FrontPage 2003 connecting to
an MS Access database
These are the steps I've taken to try and troubleshoot the problem:
1) Published the entire website to a Windows 2000 Server and the problem
persists, which tells me it is likely not OS-specific
2) Changed the Connection from the internal FrontPage database connection to
an ODBC driver as a system DSN, no change & same symptons
3) I went to the extreme and changed permissions for the IUSR account in the
/fpdb folder to "full" just to ensure that had nothing to do with it, no
change
4) I restored from a known-working Access database backup from 4 weeks ago,
no change
5) Every article at MS Support Site that I could find with the mentioned
error does not pertain, although I went through each one just to verify it
didn't apply (Articles 828898, 828905, 891819, 898721)
6) On the SAME server where this sympton occurs there is another website I
manage that is setup similarly (meaning Access database), and is functioning
normally (meaning you can perform INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE without problems)
Any ideas? 12 hours after banging my head against the wall, well, I'm at a

I've recently added a new ISP and uploaded a site that has been running
without problem on my old site. The pages in question were generated by
saving word docs as htm docs. Now I get lots of ? marks in the blank areas

Is there a way to set the background color based on a feild in my results? I
have a feild named "Priority" ane I would like the cell background color to

Cannot use custom menu file
Hi,
I made an application using FrontPage 2000, with custom toolbar and menus
(CmdUI.PRF file) and macros (Microsoft FrontPage.fpm file).
Recently my computer was upgraded with Office 2002. I've copied the 2 files
above in their respective directory, and started FrontPage 2002. The menus
and toolbars were not my custom ones, and my file (CmdUI.PRF file) was
replaced by the default one.
Although I launched Visual Basic Editor and all my modules with their macros
were displayed.
Is there any incompatibility between toolbar files made with FP 2000 and FP
2002 ?
Any help would be appreciated !

dropdown list from query
Can someone help me populate a dropdown list from a query in the database?
This is a family receipe Database on the Web. I'd like a new contributor to
add their name to the database as a contributor through one form. From that
point on, their name should show up in a dropdown list to select whenever
they want to add a new receipe. (I don't want them to type their name each
time...for consistency, (ie: Barbara O'Neil / Barb O'Neil / Barb Baker
O'Neil) . The form to add their name is no problem...but to get a dropdown

Hi,
Is there a way to have a user fill out a form, browse their computer to find
a document and have it emailed along with the form to a designated user?
I've seen the white page on how to upload a file to a website using a form
and to receive an email at the same time, but I haven't seen how to do this.

Display of Guestbook entries
I know there is a script to make the guestbook entries display from the last
entered back down to the first.
My guestlog puts the latest entry at the bottom of the entries instead of

Email from web page
I would like to send and email from a webpage that accesses a access
database. I would like for it to send a couple text fields called Text1 and
Text2. I just simply want to click on a button that captures the data and
emails it to a preset email address. I will be storing the webpage on a IIS6

CCS Working in FrontPage but NOT in IE???
I have created a button for one of my web pages that uses both CSS and
a small graphic. It works as expected in the FrontPage 2003 preview
view, but when I view it in IE it doesn't display the same. It omits a
small graphic that is included in the button. How can this be that
FrontPage previews it properly but IE doesn't? Any fixes?
I have saved the web page in question before attempting to preview in
IE. Please help!

FrontPage and ImageReady Rollovers
Does anyone happen to know if it's possible to add a top shared border with
working ImageReady rollover buttons to a Frontpage web? I've created one
where the rollover effects seems to function just fine in the top shared
border file itself, but not when the top border file is viewed with the Index

Form name being changed automatically by FrontPage when saving!
I recently noticed that when I save a file in FrontPage 2003 the form name I
gave it was automatically being overwritten with "FrontPage_Form1" - see
example below:
This was how I saved it:

name or the form id. If it's the form id then I guess it doesn't matter
that FrontPage is changing the name as it therefore wouldn't be relevant to
what I'm doing.

web pages won't display on local host
I am designing a website for my company. All has been fine until the other
day when I checked the website view on our server and it didn't display any
of the changes I hade made over the last several weeks. The changes appear
correctly viewing on the local and remote view in Front page but when I go to
run and type in the address to view on our server just the old site appears.
I have checked to make sure we have microsoft extensions, and FTPed all the

Multilanguage sites ( & CSS ?)
Hello,
I would like to create a multilanguagesite wihout taking care of the
navigation problems.
So that once the language is choosen, the user can navigate in their own
language.
For the moment I have for each language to change the header footer, left
pan etc...
Is it possible with javascript to have something like include
left_&USerLanguage instead of left_fr left_en left_it etc ....

Form data not saved to existing database
I've got an existing Access database that works fine with an existing form.
I added a new table to the database and then created a new form. I matched
the form fields to the fields in the database table and then published the
site.
When I enter data with the browser I get the confirmation page, but no data
is actually entered in the table.
The more I play with forms the more I'm seeing that the only way to every
get them to work is create the form first and then let FP create the
database. Nothing else ever seems to work.

No options for saving form data
If I create a new page, insert a form, insert a form field (textbox) and then
edit the form properties, the only option for saving the form data is 'Send
To Other'.
I've got a couple of other forms working, this just started. I've no idea

For no apparent reason I can no longer gain access the home page
(index.htm) to edit it with FrontPage 2000. I can access and edit any of
the other 15 pages that make up the site, but not the home page. Works fine

New HTA- are Iframes the answer?
Hi! OK, I admit it, I am a newbie coder but very much a techie generalist. If
you keep it to a medium level, I will probably understand you. Even links
would be useful.
I have undertaken the task of creating an HTA application in Front Page out
of about 60 movies rendered by Camtasia Studio and protected by MS DRM. The
rendering converts the movies from AVI to WMV, and creates a graphical index
of each movie using jscript in an HTML based file, with an imbedded Windows
Media Player.
Guess what? HTA conversion on the Front Page shell I'm building is NOT
causing a problem with the usability and viewing of these pages within the
HTA main window!!! YIPPEE!
What I cannot seem to do is add the necessary browser/page navigation
controls to the movie htm file in order to go back to the prior list of
movies. In this situation, the user would have to close the application then
restart it to navigate to a different movie. Not really the "user experience"
I want. So is this the case for an IFrame? (whattever that is) I want the GUI
to look non-browser, which is why I used the NAVIGABLE property of
HTA:APPLICATION
One other thing- I can display any Adobe PDF's I want, as long as I don't
want to display them in my HTA main window. I just get the horrible
goobletygook that tells me something is very very wrong. However, I can use
the context menu and display in a new window (with all the associated browser
warnings). Also, not the user experience I want.

I had downloaded a new font to use for my website, but it is not a font that
comes standard with MS. Therefore, my friends cannot see the font as I

I am trying to set-up a script to auto rotate banners on my web site. I am
using Front Page and the last step in the the set-up saids to to the
following:

I created a form on my website for customers to request a brochure, included
name address state and zip then the submit button. When I used it on firefox
it worked, when I used it on msn it sent the email with no contents. How do I

Streaming media
Further arlier post I have installed the windows media player plug in into
Frontpage.
I find this is an entirely satisfactory way to get most website viewers
listening to music on the site.
I do have a problem with it though, in that when I go through the wizard it
embeds the player (invisibly in this case as I don't need it for video) but
as a cell of rather large proportions which I can't resize down to nothing.
Better still if I don't actually need to have window for it at all, so that
it can play away in the background with no visual effect.
As the invisible cell can't be written over it leaves a large vacant hole in
the page which can't be used for anything else.
Real was better for this as I just embedded the music and it played along in
the background.

I can't figure out how to connect a MySQL server to a Frontpage database Web
project. I've already installed MySQL's odbc drivers for the machine I'm
working on, yet Frontpage only offers me the option of connecting Microsoft
