    - hyperlink to a file not in a web We are attempting to build an html driven package that will run outside of a web site. This will be built in the office, burned to a cd and sent to our people in the field for installation on their free-standing lap tops. We will not be installing IIS on each lap top. When we create a hyperlink from a html page through Frontpage 2000 to a PDF file, it will not load when using IE 6.x. However, it does load when using Netscape. The properties of the link are "file:///C:/theDirectories/weAreUsing/theFile.pdf" where theDirectories and weAreUsing are not the directory names we are using but represent the location where the pages will be installed. Any suggestions on what we need to do to make this work using IE. We are a MS shop and do not want to buy the license needed to roll Netscape to all our people in the field.     - FrontPage Background & Desktop Problem Recently attempting to use a new background, when I was done, and exited FrontPage (2002), I found out that my desktop had changed? The first time I was just curious as to why. The second time whatever FrontPage did it freaked out my desktop (ended up with three frames, or windows?     - home page view I have used all of the versions of FrontPage and just recreated my site in FP 2002. I publish on earthlink and the top of the Home Page does not show unless I reload. I"ve tried it on different PC's and versions of browsers. Worse, when I use Compuserve newest version, it hangs the entire system. Otherwise, the FP 2002 works like a champ and I like it.     - problem with using ADD-INS Today I found that you can download Microsoft Front Page "add-ins". I downloaded an add-in web site template for accountants. The read-me instructions said that I should unzip the file, install it,...then follow these instructions... 1. Open Front Page 2002 2. Go to File > New > Page or Web. Click Web Site Templates in the New Page or Web pane in the right column. 3. Choose the Front Page Accountant Web Template. 4. Specify the locatin in the dropdown box. For example, you may want to point the location to a subfolder in you My Webs folder. 5. Click OK. Front Page will build the web site for you. When it is done working, you may view and edit pages. Well I did steps 1-4 successfully, but when I go into Front Page and choose File > Open (and then choose for example the index page of this group of templates), it pauses for a second and then a warning box comes up that says "System Exception: Access Violation." Could someone please explain to me what this means? and how I can get things to work. I would like to open up all of these pages that this add-in installed in My Webs folder, the weird part is that I can view them in Microsoft Explorer, but I cannot open them in Microsoft Frontpage so that I can personalize them, is this possible, I am using FrontPage 2002 on a Novell Server.     - Problem with UPDATE on Custom Query Hi I'm using FrontPage 2000 and Access 2000 I need to update an Access text field while online. When the record is originally created it is set to default and include an image file. <img src=images/image1.jpg> When a new member joins and submits a new image via email I need to OVERWRITE the original <img src=images/image1.jpg> with <img src=images/MEMBERS_IMAGE.jpg> In the database I have got a 2 fields: old_image AND new_image In FP I have tried the Custom Query UPDATE epropertytable SET new_image='::new_image::' WHERE old_image='::old_image::' But the table is not updating.     - retrieving previously saved pages in front page Hello, I have a problem in that I need to retrieve a previously saved page in front page that I accidently updated and saved my new work in.This was a big error as right now it would appear that I lost hours of work that I spent on it yesterday. I had it saved to documants as it wasn't a regular web page, just one that I needed to use an html editor for. Let me rephrase this...I wish to restore a page that I previously had saved, instead of the sunsequent page that I saved accidentally. Unfortunately I had closed and reopened front page after that action took place. There must be some way I can retrive it, I just can't figure out how. I hope I accurately described my problem.     - SSL and Redirect Issue I have recently deployed a nice FP site with a shopping cart. I purchased an SSL and installed it. I then realized (too late) that the Cert was registered without the www included in the common name. Now when my customers begin the check out process, they get a message saying that the name on the cert doesn't match. I have contacted the Cert company and they suggested I include a REDIRECT script or Change my DNS settings to get around the problem. My question is: Should I change my DNS entry for www alias companyname.com to www host companyname.com to solve the problem? Or do I add a redirect script to the page that points to the cert, and if I do that, will it take care of the pages that follow it? Or do I need to put a redirect script on all the pages that follow it? I am not that familiar with redirect scripts, although there are many javascripts to choose from.     - Easy access to Paste Special I have many cut/paste from Word to FP. When you do a Ctrl C in Word and a Ctrl V in FP you get, by default, the word formating. To avoid that I have to click on Edit/Paste Special, then select Normal Paragraphs. As first short cut, I have found how to create a button that open directly the Paste Special sub menu, but I would like to shorter the access by perfoming directly the Paste Special with the option Normal Paragraphs.     - hit counter Hi, My site has a menu on the left hand side which is an add page element. I used this instead of using frames as I wasn't sure how to set frames up. When you select a hyperlink on this menu the content in the middle of the screen changes, but the hit counter I have also increases. This happens in Explorer and in Netscape. I followed MS knowledge base article 307236 on "How to Create a Web Page that Contains a PDF File". My provider hasn't figured out the SE issue that I am
having, so I cannot use the built in guestbook. I instead
have a guestbook as a db in the web. I use a form to put
the information in and db results to display the book.
Cheesy, but functional uuntil my provider fixes their
issue(s).
