and before you run off and try to do it via CSS styling, IE does not do that
either.

Which is a good thing because it gets really annoying after awhile

Yep, blinking text, objects, and flashing content may trigger seizures in
people with photosensitive epilepsy

And part of the 508 accessibility standards restrict blinky content- it
needs to be less than 2 blinks per second or to more than 55 blinks per
second.
