    - FTP Problem I have always successfully made any necessary changes to my site using Frontpage, but just lately I have been getting this message when trying to update my site: "Could not find a web server at 'uploads.webspace.freeserve.com' on port 21." I have checked all my settings and am now at hair tearing stage. Has anyone any ideas?     - how to code and display 1 data row from ext. xml file in a table? I have an xml data file. I am trying to find a way to code inside a html page to extract one row of data from the xml file and display it inside one of the cells of a table. To select a particular row of data, each webpage will have its own built-in value to point to that row. Example: Each row in the xml file has four columns of data, as follows: variety_number, value_1, value_2, value_3 In each of html files, an unique variety_number is to be "hard-wired" and is used to extract the three values from the row whose variety_number matches the html file's variety_number. These three values are to be displayed inside one cell in the output table (in html). My website runs on an Unix platform. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Each time I create a new page with buttons and auto thumbnails of pictures, FrontPage also creates a corresponsing JPG or HTMIL files. These files are stored in my websites root directory.     - Directory Listing I have a root directory with sub-directories. Each directory has pdf files I want my clients to be able to access. I will be updating these directories (adding, deleting files, etc.). I don't like the default way that Internet Explorer displays directory information. I'd like to create a more elegant way for my clients to come into the root directory, see which files are there and be able to go into sub-directories and do the same. I don't want to manually create an htm file with links to the files. What I want to do is create a way for the htm page to read the file / directory information and display it in the format I want and when a file is clicked, it gets opened in Adobe Reader.     - Page within a page Hi, I am relatively new to FP so please bear with me. I am creating a web site and have put my nav bar on a separate page called "Menu.htm". On each page I have inserted a logo that stay in the bottom right corner of the screen (using Dynamic Drive static logo script) which when clicked opens up my Menu.htm page. So far so good! What I want to do is to show Menu.htm in a cell on the current page adjacent to the logo but that only opens when Menu.htm is accessed via the logo script. I thought that I could use FP's included content/page linked to menu.htm but this opens menu.htm permanantly without clicking on the logo. Ideally I would like the menu.htm page to open only when the logo is ckicked and also to open in a position adjacent to the logo. The idea being that the logo is always visible in the bottom right corner of the screen irrispective of he scrolling position and the menu.htm should be with it.     - Preview links not working Hi, I hope some one can help me with this please. When I use Preview in FP2003 the links no longer work when clicked on, if I use IE to preview then everything works as expected. I had this problem before and I think it was due to a security update from MS which they later patched and cured, I have recently done an update but the MS site has no mention of a problem.     - Updating a database For years I have had a form at a hosting service that updated a database. For those same years I have been away from FrontPage. Now the page/form does not work and the service says it is my problem..... love it. I cannot figure out where the problem is in my own form and need to build a new one . From another form a hyperlink passes one Parameter (a unique record number) to this form, the record contents are displayed, changes are made to the fields and the User clicks on the "Update" button.     - CSS and Tables I use Shared borders - top & left. Both are formatted with tables (I wish to be borderless). I have data tables in my page body...some are borderless and some have borders. I have created my CSS: 1. to modify the 'TABLE' & 'TD' elements for my desired BORDER features. 2. to give me an option for 'borderless_tables'. All is well in my BODY area.     - Multi part forms I have a client complaint form that I want to change over to a web based entry format. The form is comprised of 4 parts as follows: 1.) client complaint submission 2.) managment reciept, confirmation and routing 3.) internal or departmental review and proposed correction 4.) verification and closeout I am using FP 2003, on IIS 6.0 with asp activated (have already done a simpler Dbase with form submission , asp results etc.) I am confident that I can code the form and set up the database for #1 without any problem. From there I need to be able to be able to pull the data entered in #1 back up and add to it in step #2 or possibly close it out. In #3 another user will need to be able to pull up the data and add to the combined data of #1 and #2 and add to it. And in #4 Open the record set created in step #3 and add to it . Finally I need to be able to activly see the staus of completion at each of the 4 levels. My best solution so far is to have a results table for each of the 4 data entry levels that uses droplist query based on the preceding levels results table and then generate a status level off of each of the results tables. I am wondering if there is a more compact or streamlined way of doing this. I am pretty sure I can do this the way I have just described but it seems like there should be a way of using only one results table and adding to it but i really dont want to give anyone full access to be able to delete and modify.     - HTML Form Hi, I would like to write a program that will trigger at a scheduled date every month. This program is to generate an email to be sent to the supervisors on the employee oustanding leave application approval. Therefore, in the email, I'll list out all the employees under the supervisor where the leave application that are pending for the supervisor's approval. To make it easy for the supervisor, I'd have a checkbox next to each of the listed out record to allow the supervisor to select and make the approval or rejection. My problem is that I'm able to generate the email and the list of records, but I do not know or what way to post the selected values to update the database.     - Frontpage and graphics generation? We own a wholesale/retail nursery and on our web site our customers can look up items in our on-line Access database. The information they see includes plant locations expressed as X,Y offsets within the nursery but, as you can imagine, this isn't too helpful to the average customer. We'd like to generate them a map on-the-fly which shows the nursery and then places a red dot on it at the location of the item they are interested in. I've written our site in Frontpage 2002 and I make good use of ASP but I've been unable to see that on-the-fly graphics generation is an option open to me with these tools. Any suggestions?     - FileIOPermission exception I'm using the InfoPath 2003 Toolkit for Visual Studio .NET. I attached some code to the save event, in order to process the xml document of an InfoPath form, to produce a new xml document based on a different schema. I can have almost 2 identical websites (size, number of images, folders etc) and one will always time-out and one won't. I have to manually publish a few pages and images at a time to finally get the first one all published. I have looked for any parameters to increase the timeout time but can't find one.     - Can't display Access db on web page if database open in Access ? I am using FrontPage 2002 SP3 and Access 2000 SP3. I made a web page that gets data from an Access dbf file located in the same directory as the web page. I made this through the Insert/database dropdown. The problems is that if I have the database open in Access, the web page gives the following error and shows no data "Database Results Error". I've tired different locking options in Access, but nothing helps. What can I change in Frontpage to make the page?     - Change look of one menu item when that page is current Hi, all. I need help figuring this out. I want to change the appearance of the menu option of the page that is currently loaded, so that it contrasts with the other options, and the user gets a visual cue where they *are*. I know how to do hover-buttons, and I can see that I have some options in that little thingamabob DHTML or whatever it's called, for when a page loads (those little funky things like having text fly onto a page, etc.) Well, phooey on all those. I don't want any flying text, and I don't want an effect that happens *as* the person clicks [or hovers] over a menu choice. I want an effect to start at the moment the person gets to a page, and then stay put until the person goes to the next page. At the moment, I'm using shared borders with a table containing links that I typed into the table. I also already have created in Image Composer a whole set of corresponding [currently unused] 'image' versions of those same links, with the text of each link underlined in one version and then not underlined in the other. Pretty boring, but IMHO it's classy. My idea was that, when the person went to the page named "College by Television", as long as they are on that page the "College by Television" image looks different from the others. The only way *I* could think of doing it was to ditch the shared border concept in exchange for a unique table for each page of the website, where the only difference on each page would be that the image for that page has the unique formatting for that page's link. But that sounds pretty work-intensive, and if I chose to add pages to the site later on (which is likely!) I'd have to rework every page which sounds just plain stupid. If I could avoid using the image files, and just change the formatting on the text links I already have to, say, a different color font or a bold font or something like that for the one menu choice, then that would be just as good. (But if it has to be *image swapping* I know that wouldn't work.) Any help is appreciated. It's not vital to the site's operation, but I think it would be a nice touch. (Don't have the site on the web yet. Oh, and I'm using Front Page 2000, and the place I'm doing this for has FP extensions and all that on their server. In case it makes any difference to your response, I also know how to do include pages . not that I can see how that would help in this case. I have set up a form to send information to a database using FP2003 and ASP.
everything is working, the data is being written to the database everything
is wonderful !!!....EXCEPT somehow in trying to add a hidden field I am now
getting info on the auto generated confirmation page that is showing the
"Submit" button name and value. Its not listed as a hidden field, Its not
being sent to the database table and I cant figure out how to get rid of it.
Does anyone have any ideas where I should be looking to correct this. I am
sure that if I dont fix it that it will totally confuse my users.
