Because they are usually a) bulky, b) balky (meaning that once you create
them you have to go through the same creation process again to make any
edits), and they cloak your links making maintenance a nightmare (by this I
mean that your links are embedded in javascript document writes, and as a
result are not exposed as normal HTML links which FP can manage). Worst of
all, though is that they hide your links from Search engines.
The thing that really tips me over the line is that it's so easy to do it
manually without ANY of those problems.
