default folders

Using XP Pro and FrontPage 2002. By default Windows sets up a default folder
"My Webs" which is used exclusively by FrontPage. I also use Publisher 2000
for quick simple websites. I have chosen to keep all my sites in 1 folder on
another larger drive and named it "My Webs". Moved all sites to new folder
leavingthe default windows folder "My Webs" empty except for a shortcut to
the new "My Webs" folder on the larger drive. Now when opening FrontPage 2002
I not only do not see any folders or sub folders there, it doesn't even show
the short cut I created. I can still access them by using the Open Feature.
Even the Open last web Feature doesnt open them. I do not want to import all
of the folders cause my default drive is small and I want to keep it that way
for security reasons. Besides I administer 22 different websites and you can
imagine how much room that takes. Also if I were to import the folders any
changes made in Frontpage are not updated in the Publisher folders. They are
duplicated by the import and not linked for updating. I am not a program
Developer so how do i go about changing the default folders in FrontPage
2002. Ps..Changing the Default folder for the templates worked fine. Just
need to change the main default opening folder.

You can delete the so called default My Web folders (in My Documents)
- FP doesn't need it
To open each of your FP webs in the My Web folder you created on the other drive
just use File Open Web/Site and browse to that subfolder (say D:\My Webs\thewebname\)

But you are really better off creating top level folders for each of your FP webs (w/o spaces in web names) as in
D:\thewebname1\
D:\thewebname2\
etc
Or creating an empty root FP web as in D:\MyFPWebs
and creating subwebs under it

Of course not. As you just stated you moved them somewhere else.

And that is what you must do.

Of course not. You moved them so they are no longer there.

Just open them where they are now. Somethings may not work because you
manually moved them instead of publishing them like you should have.

You will have to edit the Registry to change this.

Once you have opened the webs where they are now, you will find them
under Recent Webs.

Well guys I got no results from your suggestions so I decided to do some
experimenting on my own and found an easy way to change the default opening
folder. It may sound compllicated but it was really easy to do once I figured
it out in my mind. First of all my default drive is D 10gb and my backup
drive is C 60 gb and C is where I store all my web folders. There were no
Webs in my D:\Documents and Settings\Henry Dougherty\My Documents\My Webs
Folder so I deleted it completely. Next I went to Frontpage 2002, clicked on
File then Import. At this point you have to choose "folders on my hard drive"
then change the location to the new location and that's it. It imported them
all, did not copy them to the D drive and automatically set the opening
default directory to the new C:\My Webs. Editing the registry only changed
the default folder for when you choose File\Open. It worked perfect doing it
this way. Hope this helps someone else.
