Has anyone tried this software?

For servers without ASP (but offering PHP), this software is advertised as
capturing form post data and routing it to email and/or db (mySQL, csv)
without the need to create custom PHP scripts.

If it works as advertised, it would be well worth the $29 cost for me.
However, I'm hesitant to try it without hearing an independent evaluation.

Software is offered at: http://www.email-form.com

Thanks for any input!
Jim

Thanks for the note, Steve. This is part of my ongoing project to attemtp to
collect information from forms. I'm on a server without ASP capabilities.
I'm a non-PHP person on a PHP enabled server, so I'm looking for a tool that
will deal with the PHP portion.

However, today I discovered what looks a better solution. FormMail is a
free program that accomplishes the same thing as Form Processor Pro, and my
initial 'gut feeling' is that FormMail will be a better approach.
http://www.tectite.com/formmailpage.php

I'll report back once I have it installed and testing, in case anyone else
is facing the same thing.

Hi Jim, maybe I'm a little confused, or don't understand *all* of what you're trying to do.
But from what you're saying you want to do, it can be done with the FrontPage form on an extended
server.

Am I missing something here??

Thanks, Chris. These are just the kind of leads I've been looking for.

Like I said, I'll report back once I've got something up and running.

I am happy to learn there are workarounds for us "Non-ASP Enabled" people,
and that I can move forward with my project.

Re: Has anyone used Form Processor Pro from MitriDAT? by JimHoltan

The problem seems to be with the server, Steve.

I'm on a server which supports FRONT PAGE EXTENSIONS, but does NOT support
ASP (as explained to me earlier, this probably means it's a non-Windows based
server).

The server documentation goes into detail listing the FrontPage capabilities
it supports (including form information to email and form information to db),
but doesn't explain that without ASP capabilites (FrontPage's native data
capture language), you'll need to use data capture methods they DO support
(PHP, mySQL).

Basically, I can create the forms in FrontPage, but anyone attempting to
submit (post) data through these forms gets an error message. (A non-ASP
server will not even accomodate an Access database.)

Not being familiar with PHP or mySQL, I'm looking for a way to capture the
data submitted on a FrontPage form and send it to email, db, or both.

Thanks for your assistance with this!

Hi Jim,
If you don't have a specific *need* for a data base, but just need to have the results emailed and a
copy saved on the server, set the form in form properties to save the results as a .csv, .txt, or
.html file The form handler will then write the results in sequential order to a file in your
_private folder and simultaneously email a copy to you.

Steve, thanks for this.

I'm afraid, though, I've been unsuccessful with my first try at this. Still
getting an error when you hit 'SUBMIT' (screen that appears says 'FrontPage
Error').

I may have to play with my settings some more. Unfortunately, I won't have
time until this weekend. One way or another, though, I will conquer the
problem this weekend.

Thanks everyone for your help with this!

Chris, thanks for this.

Content management may be an upcoming need for me, and I will be sure to
check it out further!

After all this, I'm starting to wonder. However, everything else offered
(price, service, tools, billing, uptime) is perfect for me. If I could just
work out this one issue, I'd be a happy man! :)

Having said this, if I was starting from square one again, I'd ensure I was
on an ASP enabled server.

BE FOREWARNED, everyone: Suport of FrontPage extensions may be an
inadequate criterion when selecting your host. You really want an ASP
enabled server to easily take advantage of FrontPage's many features.

If you like contact me directly and I'll hook you up with some extra space
I've got. and you can get a taste of how easy this is all supposed to be.
