    - Updating a database For years I have had a form at a hosting service that updated a database. For those same years I have been away from FrontPage. Now the page/form does not work and the service says it is my problem..... love it. I cannot figure out where the problem is in my own form and need to build a new one . From another form a hyperlink passes one Parameter (a unique record number) to this form, the record contents are displayed, changes are made to the fields and the User clicks on the "Update" button.     - CSS and Tables I use Shared borders - top & left. Both are formatted with tables (I wish to be borderless). I have data tables in my page body...some are borderless and some have borders. I have created my CSS: 1. to modify the 'TABLE' & 'TD' elements for my desired BORDER features. 2. to give me an option for 'borderless_tables'. All is well in my BODY area. But the tables in the shared border area have BORDERS...from the modified TABLE & TD in my CSS. How can I have the best of both? Thanks for any help.     - Q?: A query about ASP, MS Access & MS Outlook Hi there, Can someone point me in the direction of some help (tutorials or links)? Is there any way for a forms contents to be sent from an ASP page directly to MS Outlook? If not, which tables/fields would be needed in an Access db to be compatible with Outlook?     - Multi part forms I have a client complaint form that I want to change over to a web based entry format. The form is comprised of 4 parts as follows: 1.) client complaint submission 2.) managment reciept, confirmation and routing 3.) internal or departmental review and proposed correction 4.) verification and closeout I am using FP 2003, on IIS 6.0 with asp activated (have already done a simpler Dbase with form submission , asp results etc.) I am confident that I can code the form and set up the database for #1 without any problem. From there I need to be able to be able to pull the data entered in #1 back up and add to it in step #2 or possibly close it out. In #3 another user will need to be able to pull up the data and add to the combined data of #1 and #2 and add to it. And in #4 Open the record set created in step #3 and add to it . Finally I need to be able to activly see the staus of completion at each of the 4 levels. My best solution so far is to have a results table for each of the 4 data entry levels that uses droplist query based on the preceding levels results table and then generate a status level off of each of the results tables. I am wondering if there is a more compact or streamlined way of doing this. I am pretty sure I can do this the way I have just described but it seems like there should be a way of using only one results table and adding to it but i really dont want to give anyone full access to be able to delete and modify.     - HTML Form Hi, I would like to write a program that will trigger at a scheduled date every month. This program is to generate an email to be sent to the supervisors on the employee oustanding leave application approval. Therefore, in the email, I'll list out all the employees under the supervisor where the leave application that are pending for the supervisor's approval. To make it easy for the supervisor, I'd have a checkbox next to each of the listed out record to allow the supervisor to select and make the approval or rejection. My problem is that I'm able to generate the email and the list of records, but I do not know or what way to post the selected values to update the database.     - Frontpage and graphics generation? We own a wholesale/retail nursery and on our web site our customers can look up items in our on-line Access database. The information they see includes plant locations expressed as X,Y offsets within the nursery but, as you can imagine, this isn't too helpful to the average customer. We'd like to generate them a map on-the-fly which shows the nursery and then places a red dot on it at the location of the item they are interested in. I've written our site in Frontpage 2002 and I make good use of ASP but I've been unable to see that on-the-fly graphics generation is an option open to me with these tools. Any suggestions?     - FileIOPermission exception I'm using the InfoPath 2003 Toolkit for Visual Studio .NET. I attached some code to the save event, in order to process the xml document of an InfoPath form, to produce a new xml document based on a different schema.     - timeout when publishing Forgive me if this has been asked before but I couldn't find the question/answer anywhere. I am using FP2003 and manage several websites all hosted on the same server. I can have almost 2 identical websites (size, number of images, folders etc) and one will always time-out and one won't. I have to manually publish a few pages and images at a time to finally get the first one all published. I have looked for any parameters to increase the timeout time but can't find one.     - Can't display Access db on web page if database open in Access ? I am using FrontPage 2002 SP3 and Access 2000 SP3. I made a web page that gets data from an Access dbf file located in the same directory as the web page. I made this through the Insert/database dropdown. The problems is that if I have the database open in Access, the web page gives the following error and shows no data "Database Results Error". I've tired different locking options in Access, but nothing helps. What can I change in Frontpage to make the page? It is a read only page, so I don't understand why it can't be read even if the database file and not doing anything else. What could I change in Access? Trying to keep this simple.     - Change look of one menu item when that page is current Hi, all. I need help figuring this out. I want to change the appearance of the menu option of the page that is currently loaded, so that it contrasts with the other options, and the user gets a visual cue where they *are*. I know how to do hover-buttons, and I can see that I have some options in that little thingamabob DHTML or whatever it's called, for when a page loads (those little funky things like having text fly onto a page, etc.) Well, phooey on all those. I don't want any flying text, and I don't want an effect that happens *as* the person clicks [or hovers] over a menu choice. I want an effect to start at the moment the person gets to a page, and then stay put until the person goes to the next page. At the moment, I'm using shared borders with a table containing links that I typed into the table. I also already have created in Image Composer a whole set of corresponding [currently unused] 'image' versions of those same links, with the text of each link underlined in one version and then not underlined in the other. Pretty boring, but IMHO it's classy. My idea was that, when the person went to the page named "College by Television", as long as they are on that page the "College by Television" image looks different from the others. The only way *I* could think of doing it was to ditch the shared border concept in exchange for a unique table for each page of the website, where the only difference on each page would be that the image for that page has the unique formatting for that page's link. But that sounds pretty work-intensive, and if I chose to add pages to the site later on (which is likely!) I'd have to rework every page which sounds just plain stupid. If I could avoid using the image files, and just change the formatting on the text links I already have to, say, a different color font or a bold font or something like that for the one menu choice, then that would be just as good. (But if it has to be *image swapping* I know that wouldn't work.) Any help is appreciated. It's not vital to the site's operation, but I think it would be a nice touch. (Don't have the site on the web yet. Oh, and I'm using Front Page 2000, and the place I'm doing this for has FP extensions and all that on their server. In case it makes any difference to your response, I also know how to do include pages . not that I can see how that would help in this case.     - Suppress blanks in email We have a form that is used to order supplies and set to email once the user clicks submit. We would like to know if there is a way to have only the text boxes with data in them included in the email. Our form has about 120 text boxes which can be completed by the users.     - automatic updating I'm working on a FP2003 Web site for a girl with cancer. Her mom writes an update every day or so so friends and family can keep up on the latest. I'd like suggestions for how she can update directly without having to send me an e-mail, me placing it on the page, and then publishing the page. It's a pain and it is a delay in the news. Additionally, we don't want to lose past updates, so when a new one is sent we'd like the old one to go to another page as the top message of a dated stack.     - Redirect based on user. I'm new to this so be kind! I am not sure if this is the correct newsgroup for this. I would like to create a "secure" website so that whenever a user logs on, they can only see and access their own pages in their own directory and not be able to get to any other pages or directory on the website.     - search function on a web page I need some help in getting a search function on my website. When I try to add the search function, it adds a "Search Now" box and a "Reset" box below the text box, neither of which I want.     - Error when opening a site in Front Page 2003 Hi, I'm experimenting with creating a site locally and trying to open that site using front page 2003 using the site user I 've created in the active directory. The site user has all the necessary read/write perms on the web site folder. The error that I receive is: Microsoft Office FrontPAge You do not have permissions to do this operation. Ask your web site administrator to change your permissions and then try again; or log on with a user account that has this permission. To log on with a different user account click OK. OK Cancel If I click OK and log on as the local machine's administrator then I do not get this error, and I have no trouble saving any updates. It's just that I cannot make it happen for the site user. Please note that everything is happnening locally.     - Access database record editing Hi, Help Please: I wish to integrate an Access 2003 database into my FrontPage 2003 website. The hosting server has Frontpage Extensions enabled but is not Sharepoint enabled. Using a Form I am able to add records online and with a Results page I can view the records returned from a query. However I can't use a Data View as Frontpage says that it is only available to hosting servers with Sharepoint. Webpart and Column View are greyed out. Creating a Data access Page with Access creates an online form upto the point where it needs to access the Access Database onthe website. The message is "Data Provider could not be initialized" followed by a message "Not a valid file name". I have tried many different unc style references for pointing to the database with no luck.     - Rollover Pictures when Mousing Links Hello "The Pros from Dover" I am trying to add a feature to a web page that functions similar to the home page at this link... http://www.teachnm.org/ The staff want to add a page with their names, emails and phone numbers. I have just started trying to use the layers and behaviors, but i cannot get the rollover feature to work nor can i figure out how to link the text (button) with the picture box to activate the rollover. However, I then need to use another query from the access database to return some further data. This is the bit I cannot get to work...     - Database interface wizard problem Hi, I'm trying to create a connection to an sql server database using the Database interface wizard. After locating the site and follwing the wizard directions, i'm trying to open the result page from the website but no results are shown and i get the following message: "Database Results Wizard Error The operation failed. If this continues, please contact your server administrator." Submiting data to the database is not working either, and no data available also while using the editor option.     - website directory tree question I am looking for some advice on the contruction of the directory tree, not the design or layout of the site. I will have multiple pages and pictures.When I start building my website, is it best to have all my htm pages in the root directory? Should I have a folder called images and have all the images in that folder in designated folders? For example images/family and/or images/friends, and or images/vacations? I hope that explains what I am thinking. Or would it be best to have folders for each page and have the pictures and htm's in the appropriate folders? I am looking for the easiest way to organize the contruction of the site and be able to easily find the files I may need to locate.
