    - Posting Fireworks page as home page in FrontPage I've created a page in Fireworks that I'd like to use as my home page. I've already exported the page to FrontPage and it's ready to load onto my site. My problem is that while the page previews just fine in FrontPage, when I load it onto the site as my home page, nothing but empty rectangular boxes with the letter "x" in them appear. Please help.     - VBScript Denied-help i am trying to do catalog searches on a server catalog from client workstations. having permission rights problems using exact same file code. 4 situations: if i run the vb script on the server catalog from CLIENT machine in frontpage preview, i get perfect results. that is, client htm calling into remote server cata. works. if i run the vb script on the server catalog from the SERVER with a direct launch of the file in browser, i get perfect results. that is, manually going into the server web directory and launching the file gives great results. BUT, if i run the vb script on the server catalog from CLIENT machine launched from a direct view of the file in browser using a url \\servermachinename\c$\...\search.htm i get Error 80070005 - Access is denied and a VB script Access is Denied. if i run the vb script on the server catalog from any machine (server or client) via an intranet url http:\\www.xyz.com\search.htm i get Error 80070005 - Access is denied and a VB script Access is Denied. i have tried the items at KB 315454 with no avail. can't seem to figure out where the permission rights are. since i can get to them from client, in frontpage, can't be firewall, since i can get to on server or client, cant be code. the only thing i can think of whenever request traverses through a pipe it gets trapped. so many pipes, can get a hold on it.     - MVP's, Did Microsoft Updates break my Frontpage? July 3, I installed the following MS update on my XP Home machine: Critical Update for ADODB.stream (KB870669) Yesterday, I installed the following MS updates: Security Update for Windows XP (KB841873) Security Update for Windows XP (KB840315) Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 (KB842773) Cumulative Security Update for Outlook Express 6 SP1 (KB823353) Today, I open FP 2000 (version 4.0.2.6625), try logging onto my website [similar to www.abcxyz.com] to do some updating and as soon as I enter my password and hit OK, my CPU usage jumps to 100% and FP hangs (I can close it by right clicking taskbar icon).HOWEVER! If I log in with my IP address [as 123.456.789.012], FP works fine?!? ALSO, I have a subset of folders in the same domain set up as a "subweb" with a seperate login that also works fine (even using the www.abcxyz.com/subweb style login). Both my OS (XP Home) and Office2000 have latest sevice packs and updates. Web hosting is by SBC (NOT SBC Yahoo) Webhost Server Version as of 7/15/2004: Rapidsite/APA/1.3.29 (Unix) FrontPage/5.0.2.2510 mod_ssl/2.8.16 OpenSSL/0.9.7c FrontPage Server Extension version 5.0.2.2623 Are the MS Updates a sheer coincidence, or could they be the culprit? I originally considered it was a corruption of the FrontPage extensions, but since the site opens fine using the IP login, and I can make changes, it eliminates that possibility.     - Database Tables Is it possible to use mutiple table in a database to display information.. I have a table named "Manufacturers" where I have an ID and Manuf Name I have a product table which is related to the Manufacturer table, but everytime I try to diplay it displays only the Manuf ID shows and not the name.     - Can't log in to publish via http I have been having this problem since four months ago with not being able to use the publish feature because when I publish to http, I get an error message saying that my login is rejected. If I turn right around and use CuteFTP, my login goes through flawlessly. I have written my tech support about it but they never fix it. They just say "I logged in as you and have no problems." Of course it is impossible for them to do that because they don't have FrontPage or even a web to test publishing. I have not problems logging in as me either, except for publishing. I have asked them to reinstall the extensions multiple times and this doesn't work. I have also uninstalled/reinstalled the extensions through the control panel and that doesn't work either. This is a Unix server with FP extensions (supposedly) for Unix. There is no viewable place that I know of to see what the version is but they have told me via email in the past that it is 5.03 or something like that - it checked out as up to date when I viewed info at Microsoft.com.     - Nesting local groups At my new job I am trying to maintain/update the company's intranet webpage. However, a section of one page has limited access. When trying to grant access to everyone by adding the Users group with the role of "browser" I receive this message: The group "Domain\Domain Users" cannot be added to the role (s) "browser" since Windows does not allow local groups to be nested.     - Large files FTP problem for FrontPage 2003 My web host suggests that FrontPage 2003 FTP has a technical flaw involving individually uploading relatively large files. I can't say exactly where this size range starts, but problems can occur at about 500 KB size. The upload seems to initially work with transfer rate increasing up to a point, say about 6 to 10 kbps, then stabilizes at about 3 or 4 kbps for several minutes, then stars to decrease approaching 1 kbps when disconnect occurs with server.I agree with my web host since I encountered this problem with FrontPage 2003 until I used a LeapFTP 2.7.4 by Leapware to effect transfers. The theory also may include the concept of persistent or multiple connections. Persistent or multiple connections must be disabled somehow for FTP to work.     - Getting Username to write to different database I have created a database (tblUsers) that users can signup for the website & logon using their username and password. Now - I've created a quiz that writes to a database (quiz). What I want to do is get the Username (UID) that they're logged in as, to write to the quiz database. I'm able to see who I'm logged in at on the page and it is a secure asp page, but I'm not sure how to write that information to the database or where on the page to put it.     - Updating SQL Server database with FP03 Hi, I created a form using the DIW in FP03. First I created the connection using the site settings which was explained in a post. Then I chose the DIW. After the site is published I can see the Submission Form created and I can put data in the form, however, I can not get the form to update the database. I'm getting the following error. It looks like the problem stems from the fpdbnet.cs file. I'm clueless on how to fix this. The server running SQL Server is different than the server to which the uploading of the pages occurs.     - FP03 Windows 2003 Server Search I'm using FP03 to publish several small sites on some hosted servers. Until recently those servers were windows 2000. Now the provider has some new windows 2003 servers and we've had to migrate all the sites to the new servers. We published them using FP and most of the components, categories, etc work fine. However, our search components now say "FrontPage Search component" when you look at those pages in a browser. It's as though these servers don't have FP extensions on them, but they do, and like I said the other components work fine. After discovering JBots does not insert into shared borders, I used the JBots facility to insert into many pages. Great, except that when you scroll down a page, the menu goes with it! I then created the page with frames which was looking good until I realised that the sub menus when selected are hidden behind the main frame. I knew it was in there somewhere... I spent an hour looking for
it on Google. Spent about 30 minutes in the registry. Saw some
stuff in the registry but was side-tracked on a DTC issue and I
kept thinking that the location would pop into my head any
second. It never popped into my head. :-/ So I posted a message
here. And it never popped into my head until I read your reply.
