    - creating password-protected website I converted a folder to a website within our current website to create a "members-only" section that would require people to login to access information. I followed the steps in the following link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en- us;825498#1 in the final steps to test the logon site in sub-step #3 when I click the password protected link, it brings me to "page cannot be displayed" error.     - Help, difficult time inserting from another program I am creating a page: http://home.comcast.net/~cadman_meg/Programs/Programs-test.htm At the top is a flash banner and then below, I would like to have a navigational bar. the problem is, I can not seem to get it to work right. What could I be doing wrong? I used an external program called Coffee Cup DHTML Menu and it creates a file that you copy to the clipboard and then place into whatever application you would like.     - Can I pass a parameter in a hyperlink? I have a hyperlink defined on a page. I added a parameter to the hyperlink (querystring name "activity" with a value of "activity1"). The hyperlink is to a page with a form on it. I want that value of 'activity' to be the value of a hidden field on that form. My plan is to have several different links throughout the website go to the same page/form and the value of this hidden field will tell the process where it came from.     - _derived versus _DERIVED When I publish to a web hosting service, FP2000 seems to create certain folders in UPPER CASE. Things like buttons on shared borders (using standard MS themes) are not found, because the link to them is in lower case.     - Missing Images on redirect of 404 page errors One of the things I was interested in with the new server I just moved to was the ability to set what happens when someone hits an error on my web site. I've been with Interland for years and recently moved to a new server. Through the control panel I could indicate where a person would end up if they hit a dead page on my site. Obviously we pointed the 404 error to move the person to the main page of my site. HOWEVER, when I type in what use to be a valid location on my site, but is dead now, my index.html page comes up without any images. Example: http://www.kcflorist.com/by.occasion/everyday/ed.01.htm That should put you on my site but where did the images go? Well, Interland said it is my code and here it there response: "The source code is not correct. The location specified in the image source tag should begin with a / Example: Correct img src="/01.admin.files/nav.images/world.gif" Example: Incorrect img src="01.admin.files/nav.images/world.gif" Your page using the incorrect example. By correcting the code you will resolve the error." OK...I added the / to the images and not too surprising, the images appeared on my index.html page as dead.     - Frontpage should show an indicator that some script exits here In dreamweaver we see an indicator where there are scripts in HTML document. But frontpage does not show anything indicating the existence of code that need webserver to run such as asp, php etc. I think it should show it. Second one is that, I think there should be given an option when creating a website project that in which case file & folder name will be generated. User can choose from UCase, Lcase, or Mixcase. When we upload our files to a unix server it is a greate problem with file name case as we know unix is case sensitive. This two problems reduces my intension to use frontpage.     - Navigation Rendering Problems I have recently modified my left shared border and the navigation bar only to find out that it is not publishing properly. It would appear that the link bar is being produced in its most narrow size, truncating some of my text and the graphics it is using. I have tried changing the style only to have the same results. I have also deleted the link bar, republished the site, added the link bar back and then republished again without success.     - Company domain - I'd like to use for personal hobby site as well Hi all, Total novice. But have been working with Front Page over the last few weeks to setup a company web site to sell my software. I'd like to add personal hobby stuff, like another web site, or additional web pages as well. Although, http://mydomain.com, has a company default.htm that includes only my company web site. The form data goes to an Access database located in the "fpdb" folder on the server.     - Adding an .mnu file into FrontPage I have a program that I use to create navigation bars and when it is finished, I can save the file (Hence, the .mnu file), or see and then copy the code. my problem is importing it into Front Page.     - unable to get printer friendly output I tried to implement a printer friendly output and attempted two approaches: 1. Using CSS with "<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="print" href="print.css" />" in the head section and a print.css file in the dir. 2.     - Adding a data base to Front Page 2003 Web Site I have a client that has an Excel spread sheet with approx 800 names along with their personal and company address, e- mail, phone number, etc. There are approx. 15 columns of data on this spread sheet. He would like to have a search box added to the web site I am designing for him where people can insert the persons name that they would like to have contact information on,and then only that persons contact info would be retrieved from the info. on the Excel spread sheet.     - interactive button in shared border Folks: I tried to place an interactive button in a shared border. The insert button option was not available if the cursor was in the border area. I placed the button in a body area and then cut and pasted it into the shared border area. All works fine except when the cursor hovers over the button, the image disappears and leaves the red "x in a box". I'm guessing that this is why it was disabled. Any comments? Any work around? I was trying to make a controllable menu functionality for our web site. (www.sheltiesys.com) The FP navigation menu system just wasn't doing what I needed.     - Run ASP Page in background Is there a way to run an ASP page in the background? What I'm trying to do is run some ASP code everyday at 3:00 PM. If I invoke the page manually, the code runs and does what it's supposed to do. But, if I schedule it, in the Task Scheduler, the code does not run. Does anyone know of a way around this?     - Need to change Validation Error Messages I am trying to validate a form field (password) and have put the value of the field in the properties, but when testing and I test it incorrectly, the error message is the standard error message code that reveals my value that I am requiring people to enter to proceed thru the form.     - put a 'gif animation picture' onto another picture I have an existing picture within a frame of a page. I want to put a gif animation on top of this picture. I inserted the gif animation onto the page in the correct frame, and it was positioned next to my picture automatically. How do I position the gif animation on top of the picture?     - Security message ... is this because I am running locally? Hi: Okay, now I am totally confused. I am using a javascript called cube to display and rotate some pictures on my webpage. Since the SP2 update, I get the message "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from...". I have to mention that I am only testing the pages on my computer and haven't uploaded it to the server yet. I did some tinkering and added the following line to the top of one of my web pages:, even though there is not mention of adding this to the page:  All of a sudden the page works perfectly. BUT ... now I have to include this line on other pages as well, even scripts I have from different sites. Even with that line, not all pages work correctly. I was told that when I upload to my server, those messages will not appear on the web page. Supposedly, I am getting those messages because I am working locally. My questions: Q1: If the problem is because I am working locally, will I need the  portion on all my pages when I upload, even though they are causing problems? (Yes, I am keeping the copyright part within the javascript) Q2: If I right click the highlighted bar that is telling me about the "To help protect.." and click "Allow Blocked Content...", will this remove ALL the protection, or just allow MY content to be run?     - Frontpage or CGI? ... is this possible (submit button)? Hi: I have a framed page (left and main) with the left frame having a log-on button (cgi). I need a form that has a special submit button (actually I dont even need the form, just the submit button. I am using a form name on the page that is totally invisible and useless. I am using the form name to get a field off the page. Complicated, but it works). I need the submit button to email me 2 entities. One is the user name/ID and the other the form name. Scenario 1: If the visitor is logged on, make the submit button visible. If not logged on, keep invisible. or Scenario 2: After clicking the special submit button, send if the visitor is logged on. If the visitor is not logged on, log on. Is any of this possible with Frontpage 2003 or will I have to do this thru cgi? Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated.     - Did FP2003 Optimizing HMTL embed the components? I am not sure how to explain it but I will give it a try. While I did maintain a backup copy of my site, I decided to use FP's OPTIMIZE HTML when I published my site. I then noticed that all of the include page components, or rather the text that got filled in by the components, now became part of the page. In other word, I use to be able to double-click on one of the include page components and it would show me which component it was...now the actual text from that component has become part of the page. I assume that means that if I make changes to the actual components themselves that it would no longer affect all of the pages where the components feed the text?     - Frontpage made images not displaying I copied text/image pages formatted in Word directly to Frontpage. I then saved individual html documents, which were given the office xml schema. The webpages displayed perfectly on my machine. However, once distributed, the images in the pages are not displaying. The text is formatting exactly how I had it in Word, and the spacing is proper, however the images are just not visible. Does anyone know how I can start to figure out why this is?
