    - thumbnails For some reason lately, whenever I try to save thumbnails on Frontpage it won't work. It will save the larger photo to the web but it won't save the small version of the photo (i.e. the thumbnail). When I add a thumbnail and then click 'save' it will act like it's saving it but will only apparently save it to a temporary file folder within Frontpage; not publish it to the web (or to the Angelfire server that hosts my site). Then when I close the page, it will ask if I want to save the changes again... no matter how many times I click save, this will ALWAYS happen. All the other thumbnails I have saved in the past are fine, but now that I try to create new ones it won't let me. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to fix this? I tried to contact Microsoft directly but it says my product has exceeded its maximum number of support inquiries (which is weird since I've never made any before...). Please help!     - fp98 - disabling the image size placeholder Have a javascript slideshow with 10 images, all different sizes. Table row is manually set to accomodate biggest width and height.     - database records Hey everyone, I've constructed a Frontpage site and have an Access database getting the results. Is there a way to display the <auto number> from the database? It's a questionnaire website and I want to use the auto number as the participants record number...so how can I display this back to the person once they click submit?     - Using email address values from drop down box I have created one form to be able to be used for several possible email recipients so that I don't clutter up the folder. I have placed the names on a 'drop-down box' and creating each 'value' in the drop-down box as the email address. When I press 'Submit' I want that 'value' to be placed in the 'email address' portion to send the form results to.     - Sorting ADO recordset I'm using a DISTINCT query to build a pulldown list that users can choose from. It works fine and is based on this page: http://www.frontpagehowto.com/dynamicdrop/Default.asp Problem is, I want to further sort the pulldown list. SORT and GROUP don't work with DISTINCT, so the thought is to use a separate sort command on the recordset. This causes an error message that leads to setting the cursor location in the data connection object, but I can't get that to work. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en- us;Q253248 Can anyone help with this? I looked at the cursor location statement in the FP global.asa file, but changing it to adUseClient didn't seem to help. It comes up as 3, so maybe the right number would work. 0, 1, 2 didn't seem to. Or, a different approach would be to put numbers at the beginning of the pulldown fields to handle the sorting, and then hide those characters. I can't find anyway to hide say just the first six characters. What I am aiming for is to sort a dynamically-created pulldown by month and year. I could do 200408 August 2004 to solve the sorting, but I want the pulldown to show August 2004 once, then when a user chooses it he'll see all the August records.     - Imbedding fonts in FP2000 web site Hello, I need some guidance with fonts in web site project. I'm using "Amaze" as a font in the web, but when I burn the project on a CD for presentation to my client, the "Amaze" font -- as well as the background texture -- don't come through. I feel that the fonts must be resident on the target computer in order to be displayed in the web site, but I'm hoping that I can imbed them into my code so that I'll be independent of target computers.     - Computer Website Backup Question Thanks for all your help! I have a question about backup up the website on my computer. I transfer files from my home to work computer over the summer. I basically just copy them to a cd then copy them back to my work computer. When it gets to my website files it tells me the files are too long to maintain julian format because they are over 64 characters I believe, and did I want to continue. The file names that are long are the ones that include copy_of_arcs in them. Are these files ones that are created automatically as pages are opened, and thereby don't really need to be copied to the cd? If I do need to make sure they are copied, what would be the best way to do this? I presume I would need to go chagne the names of the .htm pages so they won't be created so long?     - FP2003 Data Interface I have tried to set up a database to work with a FP2003 web site on a MS 2003 etterprise server. I can get teh results page to work but it will not allow for data entry in to the access db file. I constantly get the "Database Results Wizard Error". I have set the site to have relitive paths and the submission and database editor pages come up but show the error. I even went to the Microsoft site and did the complete how to page "How to Use an Existing Database with the Database Interface Wizard in FrontPage 2003" using the nortwind example and I get the same error.     - adding music to a web page I want to add a song to the first page of my web site. Either as a link, or as a background. I know the difference, and how to do that. HERe IS THE PROBLEM I have the song(s) I want both on a CD and on my HD. When I navigate to either, the folder appears empty, as if nothing is there. When on the Internet (using IE) every time I try to open a PDF file with Adobe Acrobet 6.0.1, the Windows Installer opens and tries to Re-install FP 2003.     - Thumbnails not always opening... I'm using FP2002 with XP and I'm experiencing a glitch with the thumbnails... I'm wondering if there is a fix for it. Here's the problem: I have pages with text and some thumbnailed images throughout. All of the pictures come from the same folder yet some of them will open and some won't when I check the published page. I end up having to go back in and delete the ones that didn't open then put them back in again and republish. This is ANNOYING... especially because I did nothing differently the second time around.     - FrontPage 2000 creating templates with includes within subwebs I am now creating shared templates for my web within FrontPage 2000. It appears that FrontPage seems to be saving the template files within my C drive at the following location... C:\Documents and Settings\lt012\Application Data\Microsoft\FrontPage\Pages When I choose the 'open' option from the file menu however I can see a _sharedtemplates folder within the web. This is not visible however when looking directly at the folder menu within FrontPage. Very confusing! I tried using a different machine networked to mine and realised that these files were available in FrontPage using that machine as well. So I decided everything was OK..... Until I created templates for the pages within my subwebs. After creating the new template for my first subweb I went to Page - 'new' to create a new page using the new template for that web. Unfortunately the includes are not loading within the template for the subweb. For every include there is an error message 'Couldn't open file'. When the page has loaded everything has loaded fine except the includes which appear with this message '[fpweb:///top_nav.htm]' as if it can't find the location of the includes.     - Can't delete mailto: hyperlink My website, done in Front Page 2000, contains a form that customers may use to place orders. When they hit the submit button, it sends the order to me via e-mail. I changed the e-mail address the order goes to. However, when I go to view hyperlink in Front page, it still shows the old mailto: hyperlink as well as the new one. The problem is that I am unable to delete this e-mail hyperlink in View hyperlinks. When select it, FrontPage will not let me delete it. I even want to Reports, view broken hyperlinks, but it is not there, perhaps because it is an e-mail hyperlink.     - Database connection for usename and password which reveals their criteria? Hi, Hoping that someone can help in this matter. Just to explain the scenario so you may understand better. We are an estate agents selling houses. We are encouraging people to register online for e-mail updates. At present it is a simple system by a form that e-mails itself to me and i enter information intoa database. This is going to change. The first bit I have achieved , but the second phase is where I need help. A person will register their information, such as name, contact details and their requirement for houses but selecting it in tick boxes and the areas they are looking to buy in. I get them to enter a password field as well. What I want people to be able to do is to edit their criteria themselves and change their info. So creating a login page where the username is the e-mail address and obviously the password is stored in the database. So when the user enters their e-mail address and password it takes them to a page where they can check and alter their registered information that is stored in the database. This then updates the database record automaticaly. Also giving people the option to delete themselves. Please can anyone suggest the best way of going about this.     - Printing page width I badly need some helpful advice. I have done many websites now, but one of the problems I have is deciding about the width of the site. In some cases I have used tables and set the table width to 800 pixels because I want the site to be fixed and not float around if people stretch or shrink the browser window. In other cases, I like the site to be 100% of the screen and yet look good whether the window is maximised or made smaller. It is often a case of deciding on the design. However, the problem I am having is that when people try to print a website which is of a set pixel size, for example 800 pixels. a lot of text and graphics gets chopped off the right hand side.     - Weird problem, HELPPPPPP! I have a problem using an old Java menu applet called raisedlinks, although I don't think it is the applet, but rather the path I'm using. I'm trying to pull up a menu from the applet for a website I'm working on. I can put in an existing website, and it will pull up fine everytime. The problem comes when I try to open a new htm file from within the applet. I CAN do this if the htm file is on the web somewhere, but I CANNOT do it from my working directory on my pc. I'm merely entering the name in the location such as value="news.htm", but I get an error which reads, "cannot open HTML page nullnews.htm". Save the page as a Dynamic Web Template, then designate the non-"shared
border" areas as editable regions.

On the original page, delete the "shared borders", then apply the DWT.

Hi Yvette,

Shared border are a form of FP include with the included content coming from the files in the _border folder within the web. To
convert an existing page to a shared border page you'll have to move the content from the page to the appropriate shared border
include file (left,top,right, or bottom.htm). Next, you have to add the shared borders meta tag to the page indicating which border
you wish to use.
