 - Importing Multimedia Files I tried to import multimedia files into FP2000, but get a vague message: "An error occurred accessing your FrontPage web files. Authors - if authoring against a web server, please contact the webmaster for this server's site. WebMasters - please see the server's system log for more details." The microsoft kb has the error message, but their example doesn't cover my situation. There article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;838018 Anyway, so I used windows explorer and made a folder in my disk based web, put the multimedia files into it, then recalculated hyperlinks. frontpage then noticed the files, and so I built links to the files. Problem is, now the disk based web won't publish up to the server. I get "the server timed out" after a couple minutes. My server "Accuwebhosting.com" says they can publish a test page just fine, and so, I am left without a way to proceed. I am stuck. Can someone please help?  - Truncating dates on active server pages I use active server pages in Front Page, in conjunction with Access. I am using a custom format for dates, "mmm dd", which is supposed to display March 1, 2005 as Mar 01. This works fine "off-line" in Access on reports. But on my website, which reads the dates from a database, the format is 03/01/2005. I like the mmm dd format much better--easier to read, less space used, and while I want the year in the database I don't need it displayed on the web page.  - Want to have picture open on a seperate page? I have a webpage that contains a number of pictures. The pictures on this page are thumbnails. Currently when a visitor clicks on the thumbnail it opens up a new page replacing the gallery page and the user must hit the back button to return to the thumbnails. What I would like is for the selected thumbnail to open up a new page with the full size picture and have the gallery page still open. I need to tell the code to look at a different directory because the database has to move to the hosting supplied db folder with apprapro access.  - Have Form REsults Rerwite or Replace File, not Append I would like to have the form results comeback in a new file or replace the previous entries, not append to it as in the default behavior. Basically, a user will fill out the form with information, and the result/confirmation page will show. But when the user comes back to make changes again, the new information will replace the old one, not append to it. Can this be done, such as using a new file variable?  - Unable to create a disked based web because its parent web would not be a disked based web I am running an IIS server and I'm trying to create a new web in the staging part of that server in Frontpage 2003.  - Query I have used the query designed for the Select All values by using the wildcard "*" and using the word "contain". The problem that I am having now is that if I select Virginia, records with West Virginia are showing up.  - SDK example InitCaps confusion Hi -- trying to program my first FP2003 web component and I'm very confused. I'm not using FPSE or anything fancy, just FTP. Referring to the FP2002 SDK I looked at the Initcaps example. I put that into the _vti_bin directory of my web, recalculated hyperlinks, and inserted the webcomponent as described in the manual. I chopped out the preview paramter from the webbot tag so I can monitor what I'm looking at. In frontpage, it always shows [SmallCaps]. When I upload over FTP it says [Frontpage SmallCaps Component]. I even tried some programs of my own, followed the examples, and the ret.Append("Some sample text") doesn't show up like in the SDK examples.. I dont understand what I'm missing here. The built-in components like Navigation render properly in frontpage, and when they're uploaded via FTP they're static.  - Deployed Support Hey Im a marine with MSSG31. We push out updates for our website but the thing is, when you open the updated website, it will bring up cached files. And you have to clear your temporary files then refresh in order for the webpage to load. Now I know that you have to clear your temporary internet files and hit refresh, but the common marine mom does not. So she just look at the page and thinks its not updated. I was curious if there is some kind of code you add to the script or some way to stop the website from displaying the the old files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  - New Windows Setup - Which comes first, development or application environment? Hi: I am going to replace the current primary drive with a new HDD and to perform a clean installation of Windows XP Pro because the current environment is getting slower and some components are messed up with different installation, removal, and updates of applications, Windows service packs, patches, and development packages. And based on the past experiences, I figured some problems seems to be related to the sequence of program installation, such as certain components have been changed or updated by a application or SDK installed later on but have not been updated for all other applications using it which eventually lead to certain problems. So my question is, after the initial installation of Windows XP and performed all updates for device drivers and Windows Update, shall I set up the development environment first or installing applications along with the environment? By saying development environment, it was referred to things such as FrontPage Extension, SharePoint Team Service, SDK, Starter Kits, database, database components, and/or any other components that will be required to develop web applications. By saying applications, it was referred to applications such as FrontPage, Dreamweaver, Office, and so on. I understand that some development components also come with applications and it might be updated when the application is being installed and updated.  - default folders Using XP Pro and FrontPage 2002. By default Windows sets up a default folder "My Webs" which is used exclusively by FrontPage. I also use Publisher 2000 for quick simple websites. I have chosen to keep all my sites in 1 folder on another larger drive and named it "My Webs". Moved all sites to new folder leavingthe default windows folder "My Webs" empty except for a shortcut to the new "My Webs" folder on the larger drive. Now when opening FrontPage 2002 I not only do not see any folders or sub folders there, it doesn't even show the short cut I created. I can still access them by using the Open Feature. Even the Open last web Feature doesnt open them. I do not want to import all of the folders cause my default drive is small and I want to keep it that way for security reasons. Besides I administer 22 different websites and you can imagine how much room that takes. Also if I were to import the folders any changes made in Frontpage are not updated in the Publisher folders. They are duplicated by the import and not linked for updating. I am not a program Developer so how do i go about changing the default folders in FrontPage 2002. Ps..Changing the Default folder for the templates worked fine. Just need to change the main default opening folder. -- There are no dumb questions, only unanswered one! Photos that are filed in the IMAGES FOLDER do not show up. If they are placed
in the main folder of a particular website, they appear okay, but I like to
keep all images in their own folder. Why will those IN THE IMAGES FOLDER not
show up?

Jim,

It sound like you have your website folder which contains your web files and
then another unique folder (Not in the web folder) called images that you
keep your images in.

If this is the case, your web will not see those images or any other files
that are not within your web folder.

You would need to open your web and then import those images to the "Images"
folder (Or any folder you wish), in order to see them them properly. If you
don't import your images into your web and you publish the files to the
remote server, you'll get a broken image (The Red X).
