 - Do I want FrontPage 2003? I have FrontPage 2002 on a computer that I can use. I want to buy FrontPage 2003 for my own computer. 1. Or do I? 2. Will I find improvements that justify the expense? I'm not a power user, but am trying to get there. 3. Does it produce faster-to-load, smaller code? 4. I have my own legal copy of FrontPage 2000. I found the box, but the CD is missing - maybe in one of 75 or so moving boxes in storage. The old computer I had it on is not worth using now. I did register it, and the box shows a serial number. Will I be able to install the upgrade version on my newer computer? 6. How do I ask Microsoft before I purchase the upgrade? Answers to #1 and #6 would be the most helpful.  - If Then Else Hi, On a link that I send users via email I have a code number on the end that populates a field on the page and that number is fed into a database when the user clicks the submit button.  - Button to create Outlook appointment Can anyone get me started on how to create a button in FrontPage, that when clicked, will create an Outlook appointment item for the user? For example: User clicks button, up pops an appointment item with the relevant information filled in (time, reminder, location...), they hit save and close.  - Change default return string I have a search form that uses Access database as the back end and some of the form fields are Yes/No check boxes.  - Have Form REsults Rerwite or Replace File, not Append I would like to have the form results comeback in a new file or replace the previous entries, not append to it as in the default behavior. Basically, a user will fill out the form with information, and the result/confirmation page will show. But when the user comes back to make changes again, the new information will replace the old one, not append to it. Can this be done, such as using a new file variable?  - Unable to create a disked based web because its parent web would not be a disked based web I am running an IIS server and I'm trying to create a new web in the staging part of that server in Frontpage 2003. I create a new folder in staging/opened staging in Frontpage/right click to convert to web and get the error messsage, "Unable to create a disk-based web".  - Query I have used the query designed for the Select All values by using the wildcard "*" and using the word "contain". The problem that I am having now is that if I select Virginia, records with West Virginia are showing up.  - SDK example InitCaps confusion Hi -- trying to program my first FP2003 web component and I'm very confused. I'm not using FPSE or anything fancy, just FTP. Referring to the FP2002 SDK I looked at the Initcaps example. I put that into the _vti_bin directory of my web, recalculated hyperlinks, and inserted the webcomponent as described in the manual. I chopped out the preview paramter from the webbot tag so I can monitor what I'm looking at. In frontpage, it always shows [SmallCaps]. When I upload over FTP it says [Frontpage SmallCaps Component]. I even tried some programs of my own, followed the examples, and the ret.Append("Some sample text") doesn't show up like in the SDK examples.. I dont understand what I'm missing here. The built-in components like Navigation render properly in frontpage, and when they're uploaded via FTP they're static.  - Deployed Support Hey Im a marine with MSSG31. We push out updates for our website but the thing is, when you open the updated website, it will bring up cached files. And you have to clear your temporary files then refresh in order for the webpage to load. Now I know that you have to clear your temporary internet files and hit refresh, but the common marine mom does not. So she just look at the page and thinks its not updated. I was curious if there is some kind of code you add to the script or some way to stop the website from displaying the the old files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  - New Windows Setup - Which comes first, development or application environment? Hi: I am going to replace the current primary drive with a new HDD and to perform a clean installation of Windows XP Pro because the current environment is getting slower and some components are messed up with different installation, removal, and updates of applications, Windows service packs, patches, and development packages. And based on the past experiences, I figured some problems seems to be related to the sequence of program installation, such as certain components have been changed or updated by a application or SDK installed later on but have not been updated for all other applications using it which eventually lead to certain problems. So my question is, after the initial installation of Windows XP and performed all updates for device drivers and Windows Update, shall I set up the development environment first or installing applications along with the environment? By saying development environment, it was referred to things such as FrontPage Extension, SharePoint Team Service, SDK, Starter Kits, database, database components, and/or any other components that will be required to develop web applications. By saying applications, it was referred to applications such as FrontPage, Dreamweaver, Office, and so on. I understand that some development components also come with applications and it might be updated when the application is being installed and updated.  - default folders Using XP Pro and FrontPage 2002. By default Windows sets up a default folder "My Webs" which is used exclusively by FrontPage. I also use Publisher 2000 for quick simple websites. I have chosen to keep all my sites in 1 folder on another larger drive and named it "My Webs". Moved all sites to new folder leavingthe default windows folder "My Webs" empty except for a shortcut to the new "My Webs" folder on the larger drive. Now when opening FrontPage 2002 I not only do not see any folders or sub folders there, it doesn't even show the short cut I created. I can still access them by using the Open Feature. Even the Open last web Feature doesnt open them. I do not want to import all of the folders cause my default drive is small and I want to keep it that way for security reasons. Besides I administer 22 different websites and you can imagine how much room that takes. Also if I were to import the folders any changes made in Frontpage are not updated in the Publisher folders. They are duplicated by the import and not linked for updating. I am not a program Developer so how do i go about changing the default folders in FrontPage 2002.  - included content corrupting site I have standard included content (e.g. included files or navigation bars) on my and my clients' websites us MS FrontPage 2003. Suddently, this content seems to corrrupt the website, resulting in a site-within-a-site. Currently, my own website is corrupted: www.webuilder.co.il. However, if I remove the navigation bar from the left, it will look perfect. I also had included content which caused the same results. Other sites are causing me similar problems. I have fixed FP extensions, recalculated links, detected & repaired, updated via office update, and nothing seems to help. Of course, the site looks perfect in the FP editor, both locally and on the host. Only when viewed in a browser does the site look crazy. Thank you for any help you can offer!  - Javascript and Interactive Button Conflict Hi, I am running FP2003 on a Windows XP-Pro system. I have developed a few sites and use a js to provide a Date and Time on each page (this is embedded into each page via dynamic template) which works very well.......... Until I insert an Interactive Button?? At this point, I get the Date section of the js, but not the time.  - Unable to Publish I am using FP2003. My website is hosted by Yahoo since July 2004. I have a modem with two computers on a D-Link router, one hard wired, one wireless. Both experience the problem which was initially intermittant and is now solid. When trying to publish, I get the following error message: " Unable to open HTTP://twowackywomen.com" Server error: The server does not appear to have Windows share point services installed" Possible causes: 1.Web server may not have FP Server Extensions. 2.Server is out of service. 3.If connecting through a proxy server, the settings may be wrong. etc.etc. What I have done: With Yahoo tech support, I reset extensions and author at the host. This worked when the problem was intermittant. but not know. We also deleted, at the host, all files with spaces, and underscores, there were many. Finally, we deleted all the files. Unfortunately none of this solved the problem and I am left with a blank web site. Yahoo tech support is able to publish to the site with Front Page and has indicated I have a Front Page problem.
