    - updating page and archiving old Is ther a way I cand update a news page. Here what I want to beable to do. I have a news.htm page currently I just add update news information to it. I would like to be able to just upload a word document to the site and the news page is automaticicly updated with that information the old information would then be stored in a folder on the website as a arcive page or file.     - Still getting an error trying to connect to Access DB on web I posted this message several days ago and someone suggested that the error was because someone else had the db open exclusively. That's not the case here, since I'm the only one currently using this db. I'm hoping someone might have some other ideas about what might be going on. I'm trying to connect to an Access DB on my web site. I used FrontPage 2000's Database Results wizard, but the page it built just doesn't have the features I need, so I've started setting up a page by hand.     - Shared Border inside a table? Hi, I'd like to make my site a specific width so it will look consistant in different sized browser windows.     - navigation bar I am trying to sell a service on the Net (12 pages of documentation). I have used FrontPage 2000 to create my web. Everything was OK until I realized the following: My web has got only 2 levels: The Home page on the first and all the other pages on to a second level. Obviously, the Home page contains the hyperkinks to the other pages. On the Home page, I created a "pay button" downloaded from the net to process a one off payment and then re- direct the visitor on to the second page to start surfing my web. But, I have just realized that on the navigation bar every page contains a link back to the Home page. which means that any visitor who, after having paid, would hit the Home button would have to pay again to visit the site.     - FrontPage 2003 Development Hi All. I'm working with FrontPage 2003 and SharePoint Portal Server 2003, creating an enterprise portal. I've a problem calling a desktop application from a FrontPage Web. This JavaScript works OK alone (calling "Calculator" from Windows), but it doesn't work inside de Web.     - front page 2002 I can't run my reports for broken links, unverified links,etc... I keep getting the message: "no files match the conditions specified in the autofilters that are applied to this report. Remove the autofilters to display more items."     - Sort of virtual directory Hey, I'm a little new to this world, but have at task that need to be fixed very soon ..     - Can't get "file upload" in FP form to work - can't change "folder properties" for upload That was my problem and I discovered there is no solution for the remote host I have my web hosted on. I have since discovered this is a common problem labeled many ways in this forum. This is my effort to give it an easily identifiable subject for someone else like me to readily find. 1. If you can't get your files to upload from the form, first check that you have changed the properties on the target folder to permit it. 2. If you are like most of us, using a remote server with FrontPage extensions on their "Apache Server" you are out of luck with no work-around - unless you move to a different non-Apache server. He are the details from my ISP techical support: "Read: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;288716.     - Why is Microsoft e-mailing me viruses Ever since I put a real e-mail address in the message I posted below the other day, I have been receiveing e-mail messages that are apparently from microsoft that Norton Anti Virus keeps flagging as having virus's attached. I received 9 e-mails from microsift yesterday, all with what NAV identified as virus's attached. What's the deal?     - A question with no answer? (upload from form) The Question: How do you get a upload form to work? Many people in several MS Newsgroups have asked this question, but none have seemed to recieve an answer. I would wunder if a Microsoft moderator would be able to take the time give a difinative answer to us all. And please do not refer to a knowledge base article again. Be mindful that in my case, I have several different webs on two different ISPs. One is www.Host4students.com the other www.totalchoicehosting.com. Both have FP 2002 SE installed. I have worked on this from the server itself and I still get shaded out boxes on my folders properties menu. I did get it to work ONLY if I make a subweb that is password protected. But I don't want this, I want my users to be able to upload any file they want without entering a username or PW.     - FP Forms Option Buttons I have a form in FP 2003 with sets of Yes & No option buttons If I give them unique names then I can set the tab order wit no problem. However the user can then select Yes and No If I use the same group name for both the Yes and No the the user can select either Yes or No but not both. Howeve I can not set the tab order correctely.     - Securely pass user information to windows media server I have a forum that requires users to login. Inside I have links to video on a windows media server. I don't want people to be able to copy those links and access the file directly. So I want to create a machine user account that has access to the files. Then when someone clicks on the link inside the forum, the machine username and password are passed, but not visible in the link or html code. How can I do this?     - hit counter Hi to all. My wife and I used Front Page 2000 to create her website using a free site from tripod.com. The site has Front Page Server Extensions installed. The counter used to work, but it now does not. I tried to republish it to the server, but I get the same result the red X with the words hit counter in an indented area on the page. I have e-mailed the host, but get the standard form letter response. I get the same result however when I preview the page in Front Page using the preview tab, and preview in browser command.     - Copying FP Web from server??? Greetings! I made a mistake and deleted some files and navigation in my FP02 web. The web is in perfect form residing on a web server at bCentral hosting. I can "Publish the Web" and see all the files and attempt to drag and drop them back to the local FP web but it doesn't seem to make a difference at least I can see it.     - Submission forms I have two websites and what happens is the customer can click continue without filling in the proper information so I end up getting partialy filled out forms with missing information or just blank one's. I guess there are a couple of wasy's to do this with java script or pearl. I am lost hen it comes to that. I can copy and paste pretty wel land I have some html knowlage so if anyone has this knowlage I sure would appreciate it if you could maybe give me some exsamples as to how to go about doing this. I just have three forms that need this, can someone look at the site and tell me how to stop getting flooded with balnk and incomplete forms.     - FrontPage and Office web components..... This is my first attempt at using Office Web Components w/FP. When I create a PivotTable in Excel, do a Save As Web Page, and use Publish to publish the web page to my FP web, everything seems to work as expected. A .htm is generated within my FP web that contains a ActiveX PivotTable control (with the correct data), and a ActiveX DataSource control. When I use FP to put a PivotTable on a web page, I do a Insert > Web Component... > then select "Spreadsheets and charts" and select "Office PivotTable". This inserts a ActiveX PivotTable on my web page. Now I need to populate the PivotTable, so I activate the PivotTable (in FP design mode) and press the hyperlink on the control labled "Click here to connect to data". A dialog appears, and one of the dropdowns is labeled "Data source control", which I assume is to contain a list of ActiveX DataSource controls. On a new page, this list empty.     - containing page for PhotoGallery component I've now set-up a PhotoGallery component using the Vertical Layout with two columns and 8 rows that seems to work pretty well. However, the page needs to be wider (800 pixels) so I can insert more text adjacent to each thumbnail. Also, I need to put the gallery on a page with a banner, title, and introductory text at the top.     - Strange Error Message! Greetings! Just recently when working on my web in FrontPage 2002, I try to view the HTML code on my Home page (home.htm) and encountered this strange error message: "Error reading file.Cannot open "wpe2.tmp": no such file or folder." All the other pages in the same web can be viewed in HTML. I even when to the webserver copy of my web and dragged that home.htm file back into my local FP copy but still get this strange message!     - collapsible list - the next step I have added quite a list, made it collapsible and it collapses on load. What I want to do is to add a link that will expand everything in the list, then re-collapse the whole list. I believe that I need to use JS to do this, but not sure how to use the links so that it will work correctly. I would like 2 links on the page (Expand all and Collapse All) I actually have 2 lists on the page in 2 columns and it is on an intranet site, so I can't post a URL.     - Email from form Setup: SBS2003 + FP2003 I have created a feedback from on the website (accessable from the Internet on port 80) The template creates a HTML page from the result but I have added my email address to send the result. That email is on the same server. When I click the submit from the intranet it works but when somebody outside the site clicks the submit button it gets and error. You are not authorized to view this page In both case I am using the external address www.xxxx.info/contacts.htm With or without a dedicated confirmation page, the error remains the same.     - No longer able to publish from FP 2003 I have a number of web sites on the IIS 5.0 server located on my development workstation. All of a sudden, I can no longer publish any of them from FP 2003. When I click "File/Publish Web", the "Remote Web Site Properties" dialog box opens, I set up the URL for the local server and depress OK at which time I get an error message: "A Web site doesn't exist at http://myserver/myweb/mypage.htm , would you like FrontPage to create a Web site at that location?" Clicking "yes" brings me back into a loop to the "Remote Web Site Properties" box again. None of this makes sense since the web DOES exist (I can access it from IE 6.0). At other times, it accepts my command but demands a user name and password. Even though I am logged as an Administrator, none of my entries work. Finally, going into IIS, selecting "Server Extensions 2002" and clicking on "Settings" takes me to: http://myserver/_sharepoint/fpadmdll.dll?page=genset.htm&port=/LM/W3SVC/1 only to tell me: "You are not authorized to view this page You do not have permission to view this page using your current user account. Please try the following: If you have another user account with a higher level of permission, click your browser's Back button to try again using that account. If you believe you should be able to view this page, contact the Web site administrator" It sounds like a permission issue, but I am not sure of where to go from here.     - Swapping Iframes in the same page I want to use button links on a page to swap out iframes on the same page. For excample You have a iframe that initial page is home and another that the iframe initial page is links. when the index page comes up the home iframe is displayed in the center of the page. On the left of the index page you have buttons one home and one links.     - DropDown boxes in query forms I am using the basic database results region. I have it working perfectly, with the text boxes it creates in the search form, but I'd like for one of these text boxes to be a drop down box with the possible values displayed as choices. Is this hard? I'm not a coder, but love building these little apps. Also, when setting up a data base connection, how can I get fields from 2 different tables in my SQL database?     - Including attached doc & jpg with emailed form results Hi. I have been using a form with the results being emailed to my account set up for receiving it. Works well. Now I want to add a file and photo upload to the form. I am failing totally and am involved in another thread to change the dimmed fields in my target folder. But what I would really like to do is to have the doc & jpg attached to the emailed form results. Is there a way to do this in FP?     - FP2002 shuts down when opening a page After opening a web in FP2002, when I attempt to view a page, the program shuts down with an illegal operation error - details= page fault in XXXXX @ XXXXX, must shut down, contact provider...then freezes the entire system - I have to reboot. I've been using FP2002 for over a year with no problems. I've had to reinstall Internet Explorer 6 and Outlook Express 6, and ever since then Front Page doesn't function. I've tried the repair tool, and even removed and reinstalled FP several times. One of the times when I got the error, it offered to send the error message to MS. I did, and it advised me to run an update on my Office products. I use Office Professional 2000, upgraded to 2002 (through the FP install). I've run ALL the updates available, and reinstalled FP2002 again, and it still will not work. HELP!!!!!!I am on the support line HOLD as I write this...     - Print setup dialog In File/Page setup there is a dialog box that defines the structure of the print. The header in my system is defined at &T. What is &T?     - Script Follows Form? Good afternoon Folks. Since you wouldn't answer the previous question, I decided to pose another. MyPage has MyForm to submit feedback. After hours of troubleshooting, I am approaching the conclusion that FP 2002 does not allow any code to follow a </form> tag. 1: Is this true for Bots? 2: Is this true for JavaScript? 3: Is it true for (X)(D)HTML? Are there ways around it? Do I need to rename the page as .asp vs. .htm? The Wiz didn't prompt me, so I left it .htm. Here are two examples. Thanks in advance for your help. Example A works fine on nine pages (without forms), but not this one. Example B works fine on all pages. Setting an area and defining a form causes fatal page load errors.     - Edit FrontPage Database Content Hi, Can anyone help me with editing the content of the FrontPage database. We have a site that provides registry information...as a customer registers for a prodict they enter that item...then once it is purchased as a gift...we need to REMOVE it from the database so that when others search for this person's last name...this particular product no loger appears as one they have registered for...as it has already been purchased. I am using java script for slideshow, but FP fixes the
frame size to that of the first image, so all subsequent
images not having the same size are stretched or squished.
Even after deleting the frame size in Notepad or FP, FP
automatically reinstates the frame size, there does not
appear to be a way around it. Any suggestions on how to
un-fix the slideshow frame size?

That's the way it works. You'll need to make sure that all images are the
same size.
