    - Run batch file by clicking on button Is there a way to run a batch file by clicking on a button and supply the needed info for the batch file from a textbox? I have a batch file that requires info via %1. So I would like to create a textbox. When a user enters info into the textbox and the click on the button next to the textbox and batch file will execute and pick up the need info from the textbox. Is this possible and how?     - Using Excel database I wish to enable a search facility on my site so users can search a product list. But the result does not display any records or show "no records found". I followed this article which appeared in an earlier thread dated 4/10/04, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=268948 and set up a new connection from scratch - but the issue remains. When I first tried the search this message appeared, Method Not Allowed The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /productsearch.asp. so i change the method to GET and still nothing - not even the message of "no records found" I have saved the page as asp.     - Where Can I Find Statistical Data on US Internet Usage Can someone please tell me where I can find current and past statistics about people in the US who are connected to the Internet from both home and work? I would like to find information on the number of people who are actively connected, how often and how long each session lasts, and it would help if I could find out how they are connected. I am trying to see how the Internet has grown since the year 2000 in the US. I would also like to find out many people/businesses have switched from dial-up to broadband. Thank-you.     - ASP webbot Hi All, I put this question in a couple of days ago, but I haven't received posting on it. Could someone have a look for me please ! Using the Database results wizard in Front Page 2002, Iâ??ve created a standard database enquiry page. This works fine, but my ultimate goal is to create a complex SQL statement outside of this page, and insert the statement into the <!â??webbot procedure. This will give me greater flexiablity in creating a SQL statement from the critera entered by a user. I can create the SQL statement and pass it to a field within a ASP page. For simplicity, in the example below, Iâ??ve just shown part of my ASP page. Iâ??ve hard-coded the SQL statement in for this example. Iâ??ve created a SQL statement and put it into a field called TEST1. I want to be able to use this field inside the <!â??webbot against the S-SQL= item. No matter how I present the TEST1 field to the S-SQL statement, it will not use the value held within it. Iâ??ve tried ::TEST1::, <%TEST1%>, etc, nothing works. Iâ??m obviously not presenting the data incorrectly. Could someone kindly drop me some hints, as Iâ??m pulling teeth !!     - Database Results Wizard Error Created a database using Access- Used the Database Interface wizard in FrontPage - Having problems with database editor - database will not accept edits...brings up detailed record and accesses the edit page - but when saving changes the following error occurs: Database Results Wizard Error The operation failed. If this continues, please contact your server administrator. According to what I found out on-line "The reason for this is that the Timestamp field, which is mandatory in such a database, is a SQL data-type and must be enclosed in brackets if used as a column name in a database query."     - web component problem I used a Frontpage 2002 web component to include an excel spreadsheet in a web page on my site. When i previewed it in my browser (IE 5.5SP2) it worked OK. After I published to my web hosting server it takes 20-30 seconds to load this page, which is about right. But then it just shows a little square with a dot in the middle where the spreadsheet component is supposed to be. The web hosting company supposedly support front page extensions.     - Linking to JPGs on disk I need to link to some staff images stored on a hard disk using a database storing the path to the jpg file. Using vbscript I thought this would work: response.write "<p><img border='0' src='file:///strSource></p>" strSource being the path stored in the DB. Unfortunately when I preview this I get the dreaded red x and the path in the image property sheet shows as file:///strSource not file:///c:\folder\image.jpg or whatever the path is.     - Having update problems with multiple Addresses for one Web-site We have 5 web site addresses that all go to the same web-site. The problem is when I change a page and go into publish it, everything goes well, then I go and check all of the addresses and a couple of them are not updating like the other 3?     - Force error message when database is missing Hello all, I have a FrontPage ASP file writing form data to an Access database on a different server. Everything works fine. But, if the backend database is missing for some reason (e.g. server down), and someone submits the form, they get a confirmation page and everything looks like it worked fine even though the data was lost. How can I force FP to return an error message if the database is missing, either when the user submits the form or, if possible, when the user initially loads the form?     - Suddenly: Database Errors Abound Over the last 2 years I've developed quite a few ASP pages using the FP 2002 DRW to access and update 5 different database files, mostly .mdb files, with some .xls files. About 1 month ago, about 3/4 of these database queries started returning errors instead of data. I immediately surmised it was a hosting issue, and slogged through a lot of time with my host's tech support, reinstalling FP extensions, resetting permissions, removing, reinstalling, and updating FP 2002, all to no avail. After a couple weeks of telling me my code was faulty (funny, it had worked for the last two years just fine, and has not been modified), my host finally said their ODBC and MDAC components were corrupt, and that they reinstalled them with an updated version, but that now any query with a reference to a table that had a space in its name would fail. I dutifully changed the few table names and handful of queries I had against such tables, and things still failed in the same manner. Ultimately unsatisfied with the responses I was getting from the host, I finally changed hosts 2 days ago. The DNS got pointed to the new host's server yesterday, & I used FP to upload the site, only to find I'm still getting the same errors as on the previous host. The error messages I'm getting are all over the map, from "HTTP 500 - Internal server error " to "Database Results Error The operation failed. If this continues, please contact your server administrator." to " ADODB.Recordset error '800a0cc1' Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal." (This last message can be generated after correctly returning several columns of the first row of results.) The really weird thing about these failures is that other DRW queries against the same table are working perfectly!!! I've spent many hours poring over the code that FP generated, both code that works and code that fails, and it all looks fine to me. I've used the "compact and repair" function in Access 2002 on the database file, to no avail. The one semi-strange thing I noticed is the following entry in the global.asa file: <mso:connectionstatus msdt:dt="string">OSSCData_1=1 LibraryData=1 Events=0 Vendors=0 UploadedFiles=1</mso:connectionstatus> I would think that all values would be the same, since no connection was open to any of them that I was aware of.     - web page with filename entry I am using FP 2003. I don't know much about scripting languages, so prefer to do this in html, but maybe its not possible. We have files stored on our server. The users know the file names. They are all pdf files. The file names are all 8 characters. I need to build a web page with a text entry box, where the user will then type in the 8 character filename, then press the ENTER key. The form would have the web site and subfolders hard coded, as well as the pdf file extension. The only thing that changes is the 8 character filename. Something like: http://www.website.com/folder/folder/ENTEREDDATA.pdf where the capitalized data is entered by the user in a box, but the user doesn't know the rest of the info. I need to be able to calculate not only items with possible quantities, but also items with a quantity of 1 only in the same form. The form was working well when I tested it yesterday. We are testing it thoroughly before actually putting it on our Website. However, when staff members tried it today, many got varying bad results. One staffer got a total of $8731 from sums actually totalling $331. Her total for the MEMBER_CONVENTION_REGISTRATION checkbox registered $8585, whereas mine for the same box registers $185, as it should. Another staffer couldn't get the form to calculate subtotals at all, when tabbing or clicking. Why would results be so different on different computers? It is still working fine on my machine, but apparently not on most others. I am going to paste the calculation portion of the code for the form below.     - getParameterName I have two forms, after populating one form, the user clicks on a submit button and it goes to another form to display the information the user typed in on the first form. What is happening is that when I use getParameter for the name, I just get the first name and not the first and last name. For example if the text box name is txtName and the user types in John Smith and in the second form I say sName = getParameterName("txtName") I just get John and not John Smith.     - BUG: XP SP2/FrontPage XP CONFIGURATION: A fresh install of XP SP2 and associated updates, and a fresh install of FrontPage XP, along with a fresh install of IIS 5.1 on XP Pro. Using FrontPage to access a website locally set up and configured inside of IIS 5.1, performing the following to connect to the site: 1) Open Web... 2) Typing in: http://www.website.name/ 3) Clicking on Publish Web... 4) Typing in: http://localhost/copy It published just fine. Everything looked swell. I then opened http://localhost/copy with FrontPage in the following manner:-) 1) Open Web... 2) Typed in: http://localhost/copy I then clicked on: 1) Tools 2) Server 3) Permissions... On the Settings tab (this part doesn't seem to really matter I don't think), I clicked on: * Use unique permissions for this web. Then I went to the next tab, Groups, and noticed: Everyone was listed as a group there. I clicked on Remove and waited a moment while FrontPage removed the permissions. FINE! ALL is well. Then I tested the web out by typing into the address bar of the browser: http://localhost/copy It didn't quite seem right. Something was messed up. I won't get into that part though, because the real bug is when: I tried to put the Everyone group back into the Everyone tab. After all, I had permission to delete the group. I surely must have permission to recreate it. I am the administrator and I am logged in as the administrator. :-O Ugh oh. BUG!!! "Server error: Getting the list of domains failed." Nice user friendly thing. After all I am not currently connected to a domain and it didn't need a list of domains to delete Everyone. In the next dialog in the Add side I could type in the Everyone group there and it added just fine. When I did that the permissions that were granted only included the List permission and nothing else. Now that is the bug. I have a question about setting up permissions through IIS, which probably should be asked in IIS so thus the crossposting. Should the Everyone group be used if the web is only for internal network configuration? And if it is not used, what kind of security issues might be present? If the thing becomes available only to logged in users, someone can brute force hack the password? What stops that and how do you stop such attacks?     - Windows XP SP2 & Frontpage We have a simple Front Page 2003 web site (www.touchtalk.net) that has a flash movie (and virutally every page has some type of flash made with Swish or Java element) . I have found with Windows XP SP2 Internet Explorer, that every one of them comes up blocked automatically by the Internet Explorer pop up blocker (so, I would assume, other pop up blockers would do the same). These display in the same window, not a sepearte dialog box, so I would not think they would be considered Pop Ups anyway. Technically speaking, I am not sure it is the Pop Up blocker causing this, but IE displays a bar that allows you to display the content or not, and you have to tell it to for each page that has such content. 1) Is there a way to prevent this blocking from happening (without the internet user doing anything)? I have been to other web sites where movies are not blocked, but I am not sure if they are flash. 2) If there is not way to prevent this, is there automatically a way to display a dialog box to tell them, if flash is blocked, to allow pop ups from this web site?     - ASP and MS Access and Password Authentication I have a MS Access database that contains confidential information for each employee in the company. I have a web page (asp) that will allow a user to search for THEIR information based on their log on name. The only draw back is, anyone sitting at their workstation (while the workstation is logged in as the other user) will be able to view that employee's confidential information. What I would like to do is have my MS Access database prompt the user for a password. So, the first step would be to have the user enter a password into the database the first time they access the site. I would like to have a password and confirm password option initially. After that, any time they enter the page, they will only have to type in the password to gain access to the page. After that, the code will run and allow them to find their data. I can create a new database for this purpose (or use the same one). I just need some help getting started. I'm able to query a database using ASP but I don't know how to update a database using ASP. Everything seems to work, (i.e. Connection, Saved Fields, Table to hold results) but when I click UPDATE DATABASE in the OPTIONS FOR SAVING RESULTS TO DATABASE, I get the error message "The server connection timed out."     - FP 2000 SQL 2000: Confirmation page using an asp script to generate a max(id) and email the results Hi, I am using the following script in order to attempt to get the max ID from the respective table and email the results as a URL to the EMAIL CDONTS listed in the script. The problem is the asp script on the confirmation page is not sending any email out and I am not sure why. IF I remove the SQL portion of the script and just do the email portion, it works fine, but the email sent is generic and does not include any indication of the ID. When viewed with Explorer, the links look proper - as they look when in preview with F.Page. The problem is, when viewed with Netscape, the links are underlined.     - Why does my FrontPage ASP page fail Using the FrontPage Wizard to set up a database connection. Ran into a problem with generated ASP pages not saving to my database. I get a confirmation stating the content submission was successful but when I open the database, there's nothing. I've used the FrontPage wizard to develop my site for remote use; developed on a client machine. Then transferred the files to the server. Checked the coding for directory and file references. Everything appears fine. Even the Windows ODBC is pointing to the FrontPage database. Since the storing process is failing, I'm thinking the site should have been developed on the server OR I have the incorrect DSN set-up. Presently I have set-up all ODBC connections for one database.
