    - photo album in FP 2002 can anyone please provide suggestions on how to create some sort of "flip album" to view photos on my web site? right now I have thumbnails and when you click on one it opens up the picture in the browser but then you have to hit the "Back" button to navigate back to the thumbnails page.     - asp calander I am trying to learn ASP and how it works. I have a calander as an example I am using. The calander displays when the page 1st comes up, but when I select a new date to display it says "page not found". I have tried 2 different code of calanders and the same resuts of each.     - FP_FieldVal I am trying to add 14 the TimeReg fileds to get a subtotal using the following: RegTotal=RegTotal+FP_FieldVal(fp_rs,"TimeReg") The problem I am having is the result are comming out as: 8.58.506.7588.758.589.57.257.25880 Instead of the number I want: 97 8.5+8.5+0+6.75+8+8.75+8.5+8+9.5+7.25+7.25+8+8+0 = 97 Why are these fields adding on instead of adding up?     - best way to manage a list on a webpage I have a small project I'm working on for a hobby (non-work-related). I play basketball in the mornings at two locations, and occasionally the schedule changes, the gym is closed, etc. Right now there is a b-ball e-mail list that someone fires off a message to informing all of us that the gym is closed tomorrow, but open the next day, and who can come? Then there are 15 responses (since everyone hits the good ol' "reply to all" button) with their answer/comment. As you can imagine, this can easily get out of hand, and your e-mail box fills up with all sorts of comments. However, it is important to know who will be there because no one wants to show up at 5:45 a.m. just to find out that there aren't enough people to play. So I thought a good way to handle it would be with a web site. The web site would show the two locations, then you could click on one location to see who is planning on being there that particular day. (Monday - Saturday) Then also you could login with a name and password, and update the list by typing in your name, hitting the "add" button, or selecting a name in the list, and hitting the "delete" button. Then each day people could see if there are enough people to play. I'm not saying that people will constantly visit it and update, but certain people, who play b-ball each day, will just leave their name up there permanently. A few others will modify their name more often. Well, I haven't figured out a good way to do this in Frontpage, mostly because I'm not a programmer, never read the book, etc. Does anyone know if there is some shareware, free web "plugins", free coding site, etc. that will have code to do the above?     - Drop down Menus I am putting together a web site and to make it more user friendly we are trying to add a drop down menu to our options. I am not sure what it is called and I am assuming it is in javascript. We are currently using the Frontpage 2000 program. We are considering upgrading to 2003 because of the java script options on the program without having to write code. Is this option for drop down menu's available on this 2003 program?     - Hyperlink Problems This problem is giving me an Excedrin headache. My homepage, http://flight5481flight5481.com, contains a navigation bar on the left, which is working, and several hyperlinks which open the desired page, but in a new window. I can't figure out why they are opening in a new window. The HTML code for the hyperlink is: <a href="loose_bolt.htm" target="banner">Loose Bolt, Caused Crash - Dayton Daily News</a> The screwy part of this HTML is target= "banner". FrontPage insists on adding the target parameter. If I delete the parameter, save the page and reopen it FP, in its infinite wisdom, has reinserted target="banner" This behavior is identical on all the hyperlinks on the website. When I check the hyperlink properties in the Edit Hyperlink window, the Target Frame button opens the Target Frame window. The Target Setting textbox contains "banner." I clear the Target Setting textbox, close the Target Frame and Edit Hyperlink windows and find that the target="banner" parameter has been removed from the HTML code. However, saving the page, closing and reopening it causes the dreaded target= "banner" parameter to reappear. I do not know if the fact that the hyperlink opens the page in a new window is, or is not, related to the target parameter.     - How to post a .doc file Hi, I'd like to know (I'm a novice at this!) how I can have a link on my website and when the person clicks the link (such as 'click HERE to download ...') it comes up with a box that says 'would you like to download or save... or something like that and then they can click 'yes' or whatever.     - Templates When the "new page or web" window opens in Frontpage, one of the choices is "templates on Microsoft.com". When I click this my web browser opens and connects to the Microsoft Office Templates page. There are dozens of various templates there but there don't seem to be any templates for FrontPage.     - forms not working on 2003 server using 2003 fp beta Good afternoon, I've got windows 2003 enterprise server and am using fp 2003 beta. fp-extensions 2002 are installed on server. I have complete control of server. When I create a form and click submit I get: FrontPage Error. User: please report details to this site's webmaster. Webmaster: please see the server's application event log for more details. And when I check the logs I see: Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. Check the event log for possible messages previously logged by the policy engine that describes the reason for this. Smtp is set up and all websites are defined in smtp. Email through sites doesn't work either. I figure they're both the same problem that I've been searching for a month to find the solution for.     - FP Mail forms NT 4.0 w/ FP 2002 Ext to 2003 w/ FP 2002 In a swift movement of change from NT 4.0 to Windows server 2003 my internal website for manuals was just copied over to the IIS 6.0 inetpub folder. I set all the ASP and such to work, yet my one difficulty is in configuring IIS 6.0 to use the SMTP server for mail forms from frontpage. Now, since I didn't use a migration wizard, I expected to have to recalculate the web a couple times to satisfy the update. The SMTP settings on the FP extensions administration is set to the exact same settings that the pervious IIS server was (the ip address of the internal Exchange server w/ Administrator@.... from and a general support mailbox reply to). With these settings set, I figured a recalculation would make the already coded pages from the previous IIS server work pretty smoothly. In all respects except for the Mail Forms this worked. The databases and even the border pages worked fine. So if anybody has an idea on how to get Server 2003 to work with mail forms I would appreciate it. Just if you are wondering, part of the reason I didn't use the migration tool was because I was combining another IIS server that is used for databases only to one server. Thanks!     - Redirecting from a form I am new to web building. I am trying to create a page called "join_2.htm". The page has a form to collect data, and when the "Submit" button is clicked it will send the data to me in an email ... and then go to the Confirmation page called "join_4.htm". Both of these pages are in a folder called "Join" under the Root. The email portion works fine but the page redirects to a Form Validation page instead of going to join_4. I have found that if I change the form properties and tell it to go to a page outside of the Join folder and to a page anywhere under the root it will work ok. Further it will not redirect to any page in any folder. What do I need to do to get the join_2 form page to go to the join_4 page(in the same folder) when the submit button is clicked ??     - Running programs through the website We currently have a company intranet setup that I designed using FP2002. We have a training program for our agency managment system that new users run on a local machine. The program comes on cd and has to be installed on each machine and is not a networkable program. So when installing the training program it creates a directory and writes to the registry also. What I want to do is, is to install this program to the server that the intranet resides on and have users go on the intranet website and click on a link to run the program. The program requires the cd to be in the cdrom drive to access all the training modules also. How can I setup the website to run the program from the server but show all the screens and options from the users computers? I installed the program to the server and in FP2002 I provided a link to the executable but it gives me a message concerning installing some files to the local computer. Thanks in advance.     - FP 2000 Javascript Debugging Problem I have installed FP 2000 on an XP pro box and seem to have lost the capability to debug Javascript. The MSE.EXE application comes up without the debug menu option. (VBscript editior, which I haven't used seems to work fine).     - FP Extensions & Page formatting Can anyone help me !! I have been indispute with my ISP over the installation of the FP Extensions. My website (created in FP - www.Tavistock-PreSchool.co.uk) was up and running, but the enquiry form didn't work because the extensions weren't installed. Today, at last the ISP has installed the extensions, but now when I go into the website the formatting has gone haywire !! The header and footer banners, the side navigation bar and the wallpaper are all gone. I was using an FP "Theme" for the site.     - Error when uploading Everytime i try and upload via FP2000, it asks me whether i want to replace the modified links, so i say YES TO ALL Then it says: The file 'vti_cnf/filename.htm' exists on the destination server byt does not exsist in the current Web.     - Security: logon & logonvalidation I'm trying to create a secure Internet site (using FrontPage 2000) containing a multi-page pictorial directory.     - Defining file paths with ASP I am using several INCLUDE FILE statements on a page (which I'll call Default.asp for this example), but since the pages I am including and the graphics in them are in different directories, it is not working. One of the INCLUDE FILE lines from Default.asp is shown here:  The page and any text in it are displayed where I want on Default.asp, but the graphics defined in the included page "ads/b_spon_160x300-2.htm" will not appear. I believe the problem is due to the need for different paths to the graphics from Default.asp vs. from the Include Page. Is there an ASP command to tell Default.asp to temporarily change the default path for the page before the  command, and then to set it back to normal after that line? When I bring my pages up in FP to edit, the Hover Buttons

are there, but just with an x in them. Also fonts are
different from the way I originally published.

Everything looks great from another computer, fonts,
hovers and photos. What is wrong with my settings on this
particular computer?

Sharon -

You might want to do an archival search for messages about hover
buttons. Since Microsoft lost a lawsuit to Sun, MS no longer includes
Java in their browsers, which means in essence that they are no longer
supported, since the majority of users use IE. The standard suggestion
is to change hover buttons to DHTML rollover picture-swapping effects.

It sounds like you are using non-standard fonts. Only Arial, Times New
Roman and Verdana are thought to be universally acceptable. If the font
you're specifying is not on the user's computer, it will naturally not
display properly. The fix for this is to incorporate any non-standard
fonts into a
graphic. Then they will display properly.
