    - Frontpage Linking Question Hi, I am working on a webpage at the place where I work. I'm not a web designer by any means so this question may be trivial. I have a button on the page that I want to open a program that each computer on our intranet has installed on it. The way I did it now was to simply link it to the .exe file. The thing is with that, everytime someone clicks on it a box comes up that says open/save you know which box I'm talking about. Well the program will load if the user hits open.     - can not upload To whom it may concern: I purchased FrontPage 98 several months ago. I have been very happy with the product and have not had any problems up until recently. I maintain a website for a church and update the site weekly. The last time I went to update the site all indications showed the site was being updated. However, when I checked the actual site, nothing was updated. I have since tried several times to update the site with no success. When I try to update going through /copy of calvarytaberna (local), it says that "no files have changed in your web since you last published to destination". Then I tried to update through "<Root Web>" and it comes up with "This operation requires author permission". Since I am the author and have not changed the password, I cannot figure out how to resolve this issue. I went into the control panel of the website and my password is still valid, therefore the problem must be something in Front Page. HELP!     - accessing URL instead of c: drive I've made a website with Frontpage at www.pyechamberlayne.com. When I go to work on it I used to be able to go to the index page on my c: drive and make tabs for subsidiary pages to work on by doing ctrl-click on the hyperlinks. Now when I do that, rather than just get the linked-to page from my c: drive, Frontpage goes to download the linked-to page from the Web at my URL. I CAN work that way but it's a hassle. A real pain. What I want to do is to navigate with ctrl-clicks like I used to. Now I know there are other ways to navigate: like use the "Navigate" function on the left side of the Frontpage screen. Duh!! When I insert web component spreadsheet I can see the blank spread sheet but I can not make activate(following the instructions as listed in the help sectiob. When I view the page on the internet I only see a small white blank box.     - Calendar postings within Frontpage I'm attempting to create a reservation page using FrontPage. I have a situation where some reservations are recurring. I'd like to have a feature whereby users can select recurring options and identify their meeting is weekly, bi-weekly, second tuesday of every month, etc. This is similar to the manner in which Outlook works for us right now. Unfortunately, we've required a password for each meeting so that the requester retains control. This means each recurring meeting needs it's own password.     - Re Using MSWord Templates in Front Page I am using Windows 2000 with FP 2000 I have created a new folder in FP and in it placed a MS Word Document Template. This template has a macro that runs when the document opens. If I double click the template (in the folder) all works fine, when I link to the template using hyperlink and then save, and view my site the template will open but the macro will not run.     - Web page file sized in FrontPage When I create a page and save it it shows about 185 KB. MUCH too large. The icon shows up as a 'front page' file. When I save a picture from the web or web site the icon shows as a Internet Explorer file. The sizes of the IE files are much smaller yet seems to have the same amount of pictures and links on it that I have. Also, It doesn't seem to matter whether I insert a picture from Photoshop at 30 MB or Optimized for the web at around 28 KB. The resultant size of the saved page in FrontPage seems to be basically unchanged. I am confused!!! Does publishing the page onto the web change the size of the file?     - unwanted password protection in browser I recently uploaded a site that I've uploaded to many times before using FP 2002. For some reason, now when anyone goes to the site, they are prompted for the user name and password that I use to publish to the site. This basically means no one can go to the site, since I'm the only one with the password. I think there is something wrong with extensions or admin settings at my host's end, but he says that I am the only client with this problem, and so it must be on my end. I have several other sites on his host, and only one of them has ever had this problem before. He says that when he fixed that one, he had to reinstall the extensions, but I remember him telling me that he had also reduced the security settings. He says it's my problem. Any suggestions?
