Hello,

I ma trying to use FrontPage 2003 on XP Pro IIS 5.1 is installed, but I
can't seem to install the extensions for 2002.

Is this possible? How can I do this?

Thanks
Bill

You need to do this in the add/remove windows components under IIS- it
should be in the details there

Do you have a copy of the extensions? FP2002 extenstions for Windows XP
Pro are no longer available for download, except for 64bit operating
systems.

I believe that it is only possible to install FrontPage 2000 extensions
using that method.

I require 2002.

I found an archive on a non-Microsoft site. It appears to be correct and
contains the 2002 extensions. I installed it successfully but when I try to
publish using FrontPage 2003 it gives an error saying that it is not
installed.

Looks like it installed everything under:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\50\

FrontPage 2000 extensions are also installed. There are also files under:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\40

Archive sites do not supply legal copies of software - what you have
installed could be the original version with all the associated bugs.
There should also be files installed in c:\inetpub\wwwroot

Have you configured the extensions using Control Panel->Administrative
Tasks->Microsoft SharePoint Administrator

No. I don't seem to to have that control panel applet.

So I have no desire to use software without a legal license. I installed
FrontPage from MSDN subscriber downloads last week. I have an MSDN
subscription. Is there another alternative. How does one go about using
FrontPage 2003 if the extensions are no longer available. What should I be
using? Is there something I can download from my MSDN subscription?

FP2003 will work with the FP2000 extensions, but you loose the ability to use any feature that
require the FP2002 extensions.

The FP2002 extensions are available for Windows 2003 Server on the server CD.

Ok so I have the extensions for 2000 installed from the XP CD. They are
likely not configured correctly because they did not seem to work. Which is
why I went searhing for the 2002 extensions. Can I use these with FrontPage
2003? I also have a Windows 2003 server installation CD but I do not have it
installed anywhere. Can I install 2002 extentions on XP from this CD?

As Thomas remarked, FP2000 extensions will work with FP2003 - but some
functionality will be missing such as updating of DWTs, custom link bars
and backgrounds on shared borders.

The FP2002 extensions on the Windows Server 2003 disc is ONLY for
Windows Server 2003.
