Publishing web to server.
Hi,
We create a web on our local computer and use Frontpage to
design the navigation. The root file of our web on the
local computer is index.htm
On the server we have set up a website area and Apply the
Server extensions.
When we publish the web from the local comptuer to the
server we noticed that the root file is now default.htm
on the server. We tried changing that directly on the
server, but we lost all the navigation on the root page.
I can understand that happening.
SO then we started all over again and we changed the
server so the home document would be index.htm and deleted
all the other possiblitites. We publish to the new web
area on the server and still had the same problem as
before.
Any ideas?

PowerPoint 2003 .htm linked to home page
I created a presentation in PowerPoint 2003 and then
saved it as an .htm using the save as web page control. I
places the new files on my web server and linked the
presentation to a menu button.(The page is in frames.)
The presentation plays fine, but when it ends the
message "Click to exit" appears but click doesn't close
the presentation. How can I return back to the Home Page
when the presentation ends? Any help appreciated.

Importing from an existing web site
I'm trying to import an existing website into a new
document so I can tweak it a little. I go throught all
the steps using the import web wizard, it says that its
successfull, yet there's nothing there.

Adding Frontpage 4.0 Page and Web Object Reference in VB on Win 95
Hi,
We are having problems in adding MS Frontpage 4.0 Page Object Reference and
MS Frontpage 4.0 Web Object Reference in Visual Basic 6.0 installed on
Windows 95. We are having Windows 95 with VB 6 and MS Frontpage 98 installed
on it. Can anyone help me? .... Plz

Navigation bars show as text not graphic
I'm using FrontPage 2000. The server is using Front Page
2002. Everythng work fine when I publish using http,
except that the navigation bars show up as text not as
graphics.
I tried a number of different themes, but the result was
same every time: text, not graphic.
Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to fix
this?

form data not shown in text file or database
I am tring to use a form to enter data into either an
Access database or write data into a text file. With
either option everything seems to be Ok (I get a
confirmation of data entered) but I do not see the new
data in either the database or the file. I am using
FP2002, IIS5.1. ASP is working correctly because I can get
a page counter to work. One thing I have noticed is that
in the tools menu the "server" option is grayed out so I
can't check permissions. Also when I publish to local host
i get a message saying server does not support ASP yet I
have proved it does. The files still transfer Ok.

Page is much larger once published
Hi, I created a webpage and it fit on my screen in
Frontpage previews. But when I viewed it on a different
computer (possibly with a different version of Internet
Explorer), it is way too big for the page. Anybody know

FP 03 - Backward Compatable?
A year or so I created a simple theme-based site for a friend using
Frontpage XP. She also has FP XP installed on her computer, and does minor
updates from time to time. I recently upgraded to FP 2003, deleting my older
program.
If I make minor or major changes to the CONTENT of the site (that is, adding
or moving a page, updating text on a page, etc.) with FP 03, but I don't
change the theme -- will we both continue to be able to access the site? Or
does FP 03 make "behind the scenes" changes that will make it difficult or
impossible for her to make changes of her own?
What happens of I publish a copy of the site to my hard drive and then
republish it to another server? Will this process make changes that will
effectively shut her out of the site?

Problem Displaying Pictures From Access Database
Is there a way to remove the yellow database results
region notification (i.e. the big ugly yellow messages)
from a webpage without messing up the results. The
yellow regions make it very difficult to format tables
with the data. I'm using FrontPage 2003.
Also, is there an easy way to format a database field as
currency.

option buttons logic
I am not too familiar with scripts but I wanted to see if
i could get an example or some help on a new page of my
website. It is just a simple survey.. about 10 questions
with option buttons only (as answers). I don't know where
to begin with the code.. i have the format of the page all
done I just have to add the code where it checks the value
(if the correct answer was selected) of each answer. Then
at the end I tally up the total right, then I open a new
window.. depending on the number correct. Thanks in

Theme based on variable
I would like to change the theme of the current page based
on a variable in the querystring using ASP. For example
theme=1 results in a page using theme1's them, theme=2

Desiging for variable screen Resolutions
My previous posting may not have been clear, so here goes
again. I dedsigned my web page in 1024x768. When it is
viewed on another computer in a 800x600 resolution, it
appears off center. How do I correct for this? Do I
design it in 800x600? If so do I have go go back and
modify all the pages in my web accordingly?

Tables Float Property
I am trying to place a Nav Section to the left of my web
page. I can insert a Frame, but would rather create the
section as part of my Home Page. I also need it below the
Header. Just a colored square with links on it. I have
tried a Table using align left and float left and right
(Table<Insert) but my Body text keeps jumping below the
table when I insert it. What is the best way to create
what appears to be a separate pane on a web page with
links on it (A border would be great!)? This pane should
be below the Header and to the left of the Body
(<H1>,<H2>,<P>) Text??

Annoying Flicker
What can I do to identify the cause and remove this
annoying screen flicker I have when using FrontPage
2002? It only happens when using FrontPage, and no other
programs. I have already tried to go the 'repair' route,
but to no avail.
When I make any page page changes, the screen flickers
for some time, during which I have to wait for it to stop
before I can make any more changes.

Text is too long for a button
Hello,
Is there a way to have FrontPage2000 insert a new line
when there is more than one word for the button? I don't
want to make the width bigger to accommodate the 2 words.
I just want each word on a separate line and all on the
same button.

How do I change the Border width?
I have a left shared border on my site that I use for the
my web page buttons. A few of the buttons have long names
and all the letters can not be seen because the left
border is not wide enough. (www.agisolutions.com) I can't
seem to find how/where to increase the width of the

CSS wont save
running FP2000 on XP computer
With one of my webs open,
Trying to create CSS styles for pages using New
Page|Style Sheets|Normal Style
Repeatedly Get Save Error, FrontPage must terminate,
and Send Error to Microsoft box.
Have tried CSS 1.0 only checked and both CSS 1.0 & 2.0
checked (prefer 1.0 only due to users.)
Ran Detect and Repair and have all the latest MS update
downloads.
Any clues?

formatting e-mails sent by frontpage form
I have a form implemented that sends some data to an e-
mail address. Most of the fields are short text or radio
button forms, but 2 of them are 4-line fields.
I would like to be able to alter the e-mail that is sent
from the form to include all of the form fields in a
specific order (rather than the order it seems to
arbitrarily set where the shorter form fields are first,
followed by the multi-line form fields). Is there a way
to accomplish this?

I just published my site and for some reason the pictures
are distorted and the buttons are very fuzzy but only on

FP 2002 and IIS 5.1
Hi,
(Running XP-PRO, FP 2002...all updates are current)
I would like to publish to localhost (and quit publishing to this "free"
host who doesn't seem to have his act together) When I try to
ftp://:localhost, it asks for my username and password ... where do I find
that in IIS / localhost?
I have admin privileges on my XP box, and I am the only user.

FYI on Hosting accounts
I recently started using Frontpage. My account was being
hosted on "GoDaddy.com" Fine for sites not using Frontpage,
BUT a pain if you are. I changed to a new host and GEEZE
what a difference! The server is Windows and all the
Frontpage goodies work the way they should. I had a problem
with a form and could recalc the web by just logging on to
my account. EVERYTHING works the way it should now. So if

Security Command is dimmed
I recently reconfigured a computer and reloaded FrontPage
2000 onto this computer. Web files that are saved on my
server will not open on this computer now. I have
searched the knowledge base articles to try and resolve
this issue, but I have not found an answer.
Also, when I create a new page and try to save, I receive
the following error message:
"An error occurred accessing your FrontPage web files.
Authors--if authoring against a web server, please contact
the webmaster for this server's site. Webmasters--please
see the server's system log for more details."

Links Locking Computer
If I create a link then save the page, then, add another
link, then save the page ... my computer locks-up. Happens
with all computers in the office using FrontPage 2002.

Multi-Screen Form?
How do I build a multi-screen form in FP 2003?
The goal is to present the site visitor with a fairly long series of
questions, broken up into conveniently short screens. For example, Questions
1, 2, 3 and 4, then hit a button to continue to another screen with
questions 5, 6, etc.
With a standard "Submit" button at the bottom of each screen, of course, the
form on that screen would be processed and sent, rather than advancing the
user to the next screen.

database problem using IIS V5
I have set up a simple form to add 2 names to an Access
database. I'm using IIS on Windows XP pro. I've published
my site to HTTP://localhost and everything appaers to work
OK I even get a form confirmation page returned. However
when I check the Access database (which is in the fpdb
folder in C:\Inetpub|wwwroot) the inputted data does not
appear in the appropriate fields. Any ideas what might be
wrong ? Is this a problem with Frontpage, IIS or Access ?

Pictures on each page
I am adding a picture to a page on my site.
When I go to another page the same picture appears, but I
want to put a different picture in that place.
It seems that a picture is being applied to all the pages
on my web site, but I want different ones for each page.
Any ideas or fixes out there?
I tried creating the page as a Dynamic Web Template, but
that doesn't seem to help- unless I'm not doing something
right.

Changing Themes
I created this website using FP2003 and its standard
themes.
After completion and publishing have elected to use a
DIFFERENT theme and now the website does not have any
background to it anymore.
I even deleted all files in the server manually, went
back to the original theme, etc.. Only the background is
affected (Nav bar, etc.. are fine).

FP 2000 Web Bot Substitution
I am trying to you the substituion for <META> tags as
well as for <INPUT> tags. The web bot puplishes the
whole tag as if it where normal page text
I have tried to use Web Bots for substitution inside of
of the tags and is does not work.
Bottom line is is possible to use this web bot for meta
and hidden feild tags.

feedback form
no matter what i do i cannot get the feedback form to send
me email from the intranet. it will not connect to the
smtp for some reason. the smtp is an internet address and

I am currently learning how to develop web pages with
Front Page at work. I have approx. 30 pages on our
Intranet. The problem I am having is that it is crashing
co-workers computers when they visit my site. What would

Anonymous access
I want to disable anonymous access to my intranet site so
I can track visitors within our domain. This works great
as long as visitors within our domain use the DNS name of
the server. But when they use the IP address they get
prompted for a login and password.

Expand a page to show hidden text
I have a <div> section in my page that I want to make visible via an input check box with OnClick javascript.
I can do this but the page reserves the space for the hidden class div and the user clicks the button to make it visble or nor visible.
What I really want is for the page to expand to reveal the div if the user clicks the box is checked and contracts again if the box is unchecked again. Much neater.

Updating MS Access Memo field via FPage asp
I have a range of .asp pages developed in Frontpage which
filter results of a query down to the one the user wishes
to update. Everything works without error. However, when I
look at the underlying Access db, all of the memo fields
(some of which contained data) have been overwritten with
the default value.
All other fields: Dates, Boolean, Text & Numbers update
correctly. There just appears to be an issue with the Memo
fields.
My custom query is similar to below where ProductName is a
Text field, ProductCost is a Number field, InStock is a
Boolean and ProdComments is a Memo field;
UPDATE Product SET [ProductName]='::ProductName::',
[ProductCost]=::ProductCost::, [InStock]=::InStock,
[ProdComments]='::ProdComments::' WHERE [ProductId]

Photo Gallery Customization
I inserted photo gallery and I used the slide show
layout. I want to change the arrangement of the page as
below:
1. move the bigger picture to the left of the screen and
move the small ones to the right and next to the big one.
2. Add another raw of thumbnails which will allow me to
update the same big picture.
I know this may involve some serious coding. Anyone every

This is not the first report of StoreFront security flaws. I've
discovered and reported security flaw that exposed the database
myself and I also issued a patch as LaGarde has been known to
refuse to officially acknowledge reported security flaws as was
my own personal experience.
LaGarde did finally get around to repairing the security flaw I
discovered circa StoreFront 5.04 or thereabouts but not until they
released the next version of their software.
LaGarde does not officially notify merchant customers when the
company's poor quality code fails yet Bob LaGarde has no problem
spamming customers asking them to buy more of his company's
software.
How do I know this to be true and factual?
I am a StoreFront customer and neither I nor any merchant customers
I involved with LaGarde's products has ever been notified of the
need to update due to security flaws in the code. Only spam.
Business Ethics? Bob LaGarde? Hardy Har Har.
Are you prepared to possibly lose everything you have worked for
and invested because Bob LaGarde would rather spam you than let
you know his software has failed and should be updated?
I've got a handful of similar first-hand experiences I could and
would testify to after two and one half years of hanging in there
and hoping Bob LaGarde would clean up his act not to mention the code.
First-hand accounts of being victimized myself or being involved
first-hand with merchant customers involved with LaGarde's products,
the staff and other unscrupulous developers.
It got so bad for me and others in fact that Bob LaGarde has banned
me and other victims from posting to 'his' now censored newsgroup as
he is fond of reminding 'violators' when issuing threats to sue when
someone stands up to the lies, deceit and attempts to cheat and rip-off
customers.
So for now I'll keep it simple...
