    - Database Update I have a web page that has several dynamically created fields. Each one of the fields start with the following: DPT(some number) PID(some number) CCD(some number) The number is pulled from the ID field from the DB that I am querying. Example, the DPT could be DPT88 indicating that the Department record that I am pulling is number 88. The problem that I am having is the updating of the DB, how can I update the DB without knowing what the exact names of the fields are? I already know how to create the Record Set and update the DB, I just don't know how to call the values of the fields. Any help will be appreciated.     - Advice needed - Templates/Child pages My master template page a (.dwt file) consists only of (Structure)Tables, Title, Icons, Buttons and Button Navigation., .....no problem. I then load the .dwt file, ....insert page specific information in the various table/cells and save the resultant files (.htm files) as needed by the Button Links. .....no problem, master and child files work well. I then edit something in the Master Template file, eg: a simple spelling error, .....(thinking it will correct the error in all child files), ........wrong!     - Landscape printing from CDrom (Built in FP /html) Hi, Have been working with building an CDrom using FP. The pages are rather wide, which means that when printing the document it is cut in half (both when using Explorer printer as well as when using <a HREF="javascript:window.print()">PRINT</a></span></font> ) . I would therefore like to be sure that the user print the document in landscape. I have searched and found that CSS can set landscape as default, however, only when using Opera as the browser. Is this also the case when i do not tend to publish the CDrom / website on the internet, but only locally on the CDrom. If only Opera can work, how can i be sure that the user opens the CDrom in the Opera browser (is it possible to ad this to the CDrom that will be distributed?) Or is there other good ideas?     - SQL Server Service Manager I have updated Outlook 2003 (using Windows XP) with Business Contact Manager. In the process it installed an SQL Server Service Manager. I don't use a server, so there is simply an icon on the taskbar. Moving the cursor over it it say "Not Connected - \\". Since installing that update, I have a problem connecting to the server (with Front Page) that hosts my website. I suspect that it is linked to this installed SQL Server Service Manager. My questions: 1. Do I actually need the "SQL Server Service Manager" to run Outlook with the Business Contact Manager (I didn't before). 2. Can I disable or remove this SQL Server Service Manager?     - How do you embed or link video from Photobucket I have developed a page in Front Page 2000 which i wish to use on eBay. I normally use Photobucket to host images which I then link to in my page. This time I want to do the same with video and have it played in the page. When I use the service to host my video file it converts it into a format I don't believe the media player in Front Page 2000 recognises. Is there a hosting site which leaves the files as WMV and does not convert them to Flash etc. If not then how do I go about getting these files to play in my page.     - I-Frames and Layers In my page, I am using some files that are not .htm formats, for example (.xls and .doc formats). The content of my page goes into an I-Frame. I also have a drop down layer that pulls down over the I-Frame. However, if the content in the I-frame is not .HTM format, but is .xls or .doc frmats, the dropdown layer hides behind the I-Frame when it is pulled down. I have attempted to adjust the Z-Index of these, and still cannot figure out how to get this to work.     - defining an area in FP I have inserted a print function in FP. Using <a HREF="javascript:window.print()">PRINT</a></span></font> I know that to be able to get the printer only to print certain areas of the document I should change "window" with the name of the area.     - Cascading Menus & Swap Image I've created a website for my school courses, and have a cascading menu across the middle of the page. When you mouse over a button (like the one titled "Links"), the drop-down menu shows and the button changes from red to yellow. When you move down to mouseover any of the dropdown menu though, the original links image swap goes back, from yellow to red. See what I mean at http://www.biosmith.info, and check the code as well. What do I need to do so that the original "Links" button remains yellow, even when the mouse cursor moves down onto the drop-down menu? How can I maintain the yellow button image when any part of the menu is moused-over? Rather than swapping back to red.     - Submenu flashes I have a submenu which consists of Interactive Buttons on layer. The submenu layer has visible onmouseover restore onmouseout. The calling button has set submenu layer visible on mouseover and restore onmouseout.     - Button alt images not displayed When I publish a site that I am developing to my earthlink webspace I find that some of the alt images of buttons don't display even though they work properly in my filebased site and when I publish to my fp extensions enabled personal web server. I am having some issues trying to use a Custom Query within FrontPage for the our new server a2 with ip (x.x.x.x) SQL database. I am getting the: (The Data Source does not Contain Valid XML data. The server for the data source returned a non-specific error when trying to execute your query. Check the format and content of your query and try again. If the problem persists contact the server administrator) BUT if I point the same query to the the other server a1 with ip (y.y.y.y) SQL database it works with no error. I am busy designing a website for an estate agent, and have set up a link from each property where the user can click and fill out a form for feedback .. Is it possible to insert the ref nr (which is contained in a single cell) of the current page the user is on, into the form where the user will be taken to fill out the form ? ie cell name on House01.htm into a provided space on the form.htm This could be handy when the agents get the email and he knows which property the user looked at.     - Pivot Table Data Connection I'm somewhat stumped by how I get a Pivot Table Web component to connect to the SQL database on our shared hosting providers web server. I use Front Page on my local machine and "open" our website remotely so I in effect edit the pages "live" (I know I know). If I create a new ASP page and insert a Pivot Table web component I need to connect it to the datasource. The issue appears to be that because the SQL Server DB is behind the firewall at the host it can only be accessed from IIS when the pages are active and not when I am editing them. This however prevents one from carrying on with the Pivot Table wizard because it needs to see the data to manipulate it prior to saving the page. Any ideas how you get round this? Robert.     - Unable to create subwebs in Front Page 2002 I recently started web hosting through Yahoo Small Business Web Hosting and created my first web page using Front Page 2002. Yahoo works with Front Page 2002 server extensions, and my page works great. However, I am now trying to create a subweb to direct viewers to the Spanish version of the web page, which will have different shared borders than the English version plus other items as well. According to the Front Page Help, all I need to do to create a subweb is go to Tools/Server and then click on Administration Home and follow the rest of the instructions.     - Variable in Form Object I have several form objects on my web page (the objects are check boxes and text fields which are created dynamically from a db query). I am trying to manipulate the form objects using JavaScript. If I hard code the object, the code works perfectly. But, I need to dynamically change the form field. This is what I have: document.data.DPT85.disabled = false (this works perfectly, but the fields all have differen numbers) .Data is the name of the form .DPT85 is the name of the text box I want to dynamically choose the text box field. I have a varible that captures the number (in this case 85). I want to store the number in the varible like so: sDPT = "DPT"+recNum (recNum equals the record number). (the variable is successfully captured in this step) My question: How can I dynamically change the object to represent my variable?     - forms confirmation default I have a feedback form which opens up with a default confirmation page once the informer depresses the "submit" button. I have been able to get it to post the results in a file and also send an email to me with the information. I have FP2003. It's been awhile, but when I had FP 2000 I was able to get that program to not open up a confirmation page. It put the information in a file, or on a page, which the informer did not see when the submit button was clicked. It simply sent the information and then reset itself. For the life of me I can't remember how I got it to do it. I've tried with FP 2003 but I can't get this current program to do it. Can anyone help?     - Form result won't email, why? I am using FP 2003. I have a form that I want the results to be e-mailed. It worked fine for a few days. Now when I use the submit button on my web site, Front Page Error comes up. After I set all of the form properties, I get a notice that the form can not be configured for e-mail, and do I want to remove the e-mail address. Where have I screwed up?     - Help needed with ASP & IMG SRC Hi all I hope someone can help as I am completly stumped. I have several image thumbnails in a folder outside of my web root (for security reasons). On a site page called 'showThumbnails.asp' I use code to cycle through this folder and populate the src attribute of the img tag. When the asp page is opened in a web browser, nothing shows, although if I look at the page source (via the browser), the img tags are all properly completed. I was just wondering whether its because the src attribute is populated via asp, because if I prepopulate it via normal html, then an image shows. Any ideas anyone? Help!

On my website that was constructed with FrontPage 2000, I also generated a
discussion board for folks to post questions. The problem is now there are
spam posts being made on a daily basis. I assume it is done automatically
in some way. Most all of the posts originate in Asia. I have tried
disabling the link but the posts continue to come through. Is there any way
I can block these type of posts by way of a password? Or any other ideas
would be greatly appreciated!
