    - inserting a pdf image I have several PDF images that I want to insert in a webpage. I can put them in a page and direct a viewer to the image with a link. It appears fine but when it is put on line what happens to the editing bar where the image can be changed. I want anyone to be able to change the image's size but not its other properties. There aren't multiple pages available in the Layers Task Pane... there are only layers in the current open page that are available for me to access. Is there a way to remedy this?     - UPLOAD FILE I have been able to put a component onto a web page that allows you to upload a file, but when the page is published and you actually browse, choose and file and hit upload, you get a message box that asks you to sign in to complete the process.     - How to display a picture by using an Access database in FrontPage I have FP 2003 and Access Database 2003 and unable to get photo to show in my web.     - problem with publishing from new computer I am new to this group, and Have two questions about websites I have constructed. Background: I retired, selling all my computer equipment, having saved everything on CDs, including everything about my two websites. I have FP2000 on an OEM disk, XP on an OEM disk, and bought a quite nice new computer. Installed XP, Office, and FP; copied information about webs, and prepared to maintain websites. When I opened FrontPage, I found I could not publish my changes. In the error mode of listening to too many people, I opened www.oak-lawn-library.com in Internet explorer, made an update, and published it successfully. Now the index file you can see on the internet does not match my computer, which is troubling. Question 1: How can I return to opening FrontPage, maintaining, and publishing from FrontPage? Forging on, I could also not publish from www.pdsterling.com, so went the Internet Explorer route, and could not edit in FP. Since I am the owner of the domain, and since I know I have FP extensions installed, confirmed by my webhost, I now return to Question 1. Why am I having this trouble, and where did I go wrong?     - Error Message Running MS FP 2000. Vista Machine This error just started today. I have several accounts with GoDaddy and I cannot get into any of them. I have emailed them. (waiting for response) Load up the program, select the site i want to work on. Double click it. it brings up the saved UN and pw. I hit enter. (The UN and PW are correct) I then get this message: " Could not find a web server at "www.mywebpage.com" on Port 80. Please check to make sure that the web server name is valid and your proxy settings are set correctly. if you are sure that everything is correct, the web server may be temporarily out of service." When I try and go to these sites on the web, they are coming up painfully slow. Some not at all. To me it looks like a problem ontheir end.     - custom 404 page nav bar no good if missing page is in subdirectory My website, www.taxtips.ca, is hosted by Netnation, who allow a custom 404 error page. The page has to be named missing.html and exist in the root directory. I set this page up, and it works fine most of the time. I have links to other pages from missing.html, and I had to change them so that they have the whole url of, for instance my link to the home page at http://www.taxtips.ca/index.htm. This is because if a person was looking for a page that used to exist, and was in a subdirectory, the links did not work. For instance, if a person is looking for http://www.taxtips.ca/busdir/xxx.htm, then without the full url, the link for the home page would be going to http://www.taxtips.ca/busdir/index.htm. That was easily enough fixed, but the left navigation bars are not working properly when the person is looking for a non-existant page in a subdirectory, because, for instance, the link for the home page in the navigation bar is looking for http://www.taxtips.ca/busdir/index.htm. The missing.html page is in my navigation structure. I have spoken to technical support at Netnation, because I thought it must be something to do with the way that their system handles the custom 404 error page. They think it is just a FrontPage problem, not a problem at their end, so here I am. I have created a new missing.html page to which I copied the text from the old page, deleted the old missing.html, deleted it from the navigation structure and re-added the new page to the navigation structure, to no avail. Has anyone come across this situation before, and could help? Thanks in advance. I have many subdirectories now, so this is more of a problem than it used to be.     - Issue with Hover Buttons and Ad Banner Controls On our IIS6 web server, these controls don't appear to be working. For example, the Ad Banner control just shows up as a white box and says to click to activate control, but nothing happens. When I'm editing the site with FP2000 and use the Preview tab, things appear okay. I'm thinking it could be a permissions issue on the server. Any ideas?     - .wmv file in frontpage http://www.dancenewyork.com/Interim_Space_Video.htm is a page with an embedded .wmv file. I inserted the file on my local system (File/Insert/Picture/Video), resized to 320 x 240, and saved it. When I preview the local .htm file, it workd just fine. After I publish (using FB publish method), the video does not play, and appears not to be on the page. The video is on the server and will play if addressed directly(http://www.dancenewyork.com/NewStudio3.wmv) but will not open on the page. I checked the code behind the page and it looks the same locally and on the server. A version of the same page using a Flash video works just fine http://www.dancenewyork.com/Interim_Space_flash.htm.     - Access or SQL database I was hoping to have an Access or SQL work order database that resides on our network. I would like a FrontPage form that will allow users to enter a work request and it posts to the Access or SQL database. I first created the db in Access and created the form in FrontPage with a connection to the access database (not in frontpage but on the network). Whenever I added information to the form it never went to the database and I tested the connection and had field mapping appropriate. I then repeated the process with a SQL database -- not in frontpage but on the network. The data entered in the web browser never went to the database. I then created an Access database and placed it in the web. I was able to add records via the form, but couldn't access it when looking at the access database. As soon as I copied and pasted the database from the fpdb folder in the website and placed on my desktop, I could see the entries. Please help me accomplish this task. I would like to acquire work requests via the intranet and have them placed in an Access or SQL database without having to go to the trouble of copying and pasting from the website to a network area. Is this doable? ULTIMATELY, I would like the form created on the intranet to have pick list fields that are options in the database so the data the requestor submits can pigeon hole directly to the work request table and the database users will be off and running. Currently I have people enter their request on our intranet and an email is sent to a department.     - Hyperlink contents of a cell in an Excel sheet into a web button My web design has interactive buttons that have links directly to an ethernet address (eg. http://111.222.333.444). There is an Excel spreadsheet that the addresses reside in (cells in the sheet contain the text "http://111.222.333.444") I would like to hyperlink a cell's content into a button on the web sheet. So far, all I can do is load the entire spread sheet, not just 1 cell's content. The Excel sheet has the cells named, but there does not seem to be any ablity to reference the cell ID (E14) or its name.     - Form Results Placement I have several questions: I am currently working on posting a "blog" type page for one of my users to post updates as needed. Here are all my issues: I am using a dynamic web site and I cannot get the form (blog) results to appear where I want them. They will only show up at the VERY bottom of the page. Secondly, I can't seem to get the name of the submit button (Submit Query) to not show up every time I/He posts a new message, and lastly, I want to be able to password protect the page that allows him to enter his posting so that not everyone can enter something that will appear on our web site.     - Layers and links I occasionally use a layer that will pop-up inside the current page. I always put a link inside the layer to close it when the user is ready. One drawback to this is that when the layer is visible and active, all other links outside the layer are still active.     - hyperlinks I have a fairly large website with several levels and many thumbnail pictures. All of the thumbnails have hyperlinks the full sized picture which I have opening in a separate window. Periodically the hyperlink breaks even though I am not working on that particular arm/leg of the site. When I reconnect it and re-publish the site it remains broken.     - Photo Gallery breaks when edited If I connect to the server to do online editing of my photo galleries, once I save any changes, they break. The HTML code is totally rewritten. I even tried to manually type the code in from a working gallery, once saved, the code automatically changes itself and renders the gallery unusable. It just comes up as a blank space on the web.     - Can you change the Subject Line from an HTML Form? I am trying to change the text in the subject line of an HTML form that sends the form results in plain text format. This is a very simple, intranet affair to make sure that our managers are sending all the information we analysts need to process their request.     - Extending FrontPage - Adding a Custom Menu to access Database Good Afternoon! I am not sure if I have tough or a easy to solve problem. Please help me if you can and have some spare time. I need to customize FrontPage itself for my Users where they can access a Database and select a Column and add that Column Name in their current Page they are designing. The way it should work is as follows: I like to provide a Menu / Button in FrontPage along with other Menus on Top, that will open a Window which has series of ListBoxes. Here I like to list the DSNs available and once the User chooses a DSN, I like to list all the Tables in the Database and then allow the User to Choose a Table and then we show all Columns in this Table. Now the User can choose a Column and Click "Select" Button, the Column Name should be inserted where the User's Cursor was in the Web Page he/she is designing. Is this possible.     - external javascript file For some reason, I can't seem to get an external reference to a javascript file to work within my HTML when using the FrontPage IDE for my coding. In other words, using <script language = "javascript" src = "myfile.js"> </script> works fine in my browser if using a text editor to code my HTML/ Javascript but I get a Javascript "can't find object" error if I try to preview the page from within FrontPage97.     - FP to Expression Web I have been using FP for a long time now and depend on its Shared Borders a lot. I love the way I can add a new page in the tree and have it show up on all the navigation buttons without me thinking about it. My site (www.SETI.Net) has a huge number of pages and depends on the navigation structure from FP and many pictures. My question is: When I move to Expression Web will I still have the navigation function? I know that EW still supports Shared Borders but I expect that the server must then run the extensions. Is this the case? The extensions cause a lot of problems for all the hosting systems that I have tried over the years and I would like to get away from them. So - What do you think? I tried the suggestion to repairFront Page through the control panel> add
remove programs> change /repair. It did not solve the problem. Are there any
more suggestions. I would appreciate any help I can get. The note saying it
will not initialize displays thjis infl (0xc01500002) I do not recognize this
info. Thanks for any help.
