How do I fix front page forms that have been uploaded by another ftp program?

You upload them via FP or open them in FP on the live/remote server and then make a small change,
and then save may correct the forms.

I'd tried that once and it did work, but now I have been unable to recreate
on another site I edit. Any other suggestions? I know it has something to
do with the Northbot file...but I don't understand what Dreamweaver or any
other ftp program may do to it...

Thanks though.

Have you host repair / reinstall the FrontPage Extensions.
You "must" publish FrontPage forms using http://

Is it Ok to publish other files via FTP, as long as you leave the form
alone?

I've got a "standalone" website (just a bunch of html pages) that wasn't
built in FP. I want to continue to publish those with FTP, and publish my
little form website thru FP via http:// It will only have 3 or 4 forms in
it.

Will that work? Or will the FTP break the extensions?

Thanks!

No
You must publish a site w/ FP and not FTP to the site or you will corrupt the FP SE and the form won't work

Thanks Stefan. I appreciate, but I beg to disagree.

I tried it last night and so far so good. What I've got is basically a FP
web nested into a "standalone" website that I built outside of FP. The FP
web is just a couple of forms. Everything else is "outside" the FP web.

I pushed a few files up to the website with WS_FTP, then tried out the form
and it still works. yippee!

I'm thinking as long as I leave all the FP files and folders alone when I'm
FTPing, I *might* be in good shape.

We'll see [crossing fingers]

Thanks for your input.

James

ahhh... I see what you're saying. You're saying the FP site must be
published from FP, not FTP.

Which makes sense.

Thanks.
