    - How do I implement a document download web site with FrontPage 200 I have an existing directory structure of document files on the same server where I will publish the website. The top level directories are for each year, then there are sub-directories for each quarter. Inside the directories for each quarter are sub-directories that are named by their corresponding order number such as "12345678-SD850-01". Inside these sub-directories are the document files (pdf, Word, Excel) that I want to make available for download. I want to make this website as simple as possible. I would like the user to only provide the order number (which will match the sub-directory that contains the files for download), then I want to display a page with links they can click to download the files. I have already created the first page that has a text entry box with the submit and reset buttons. That was easy. I am not sure of the best way to proceed for the searching of the directories or how to display the document files for download once I find the directory path. I was hoping that I could do everything within FrontPage, but it is looking like I will need to use ASP, VBScript, or JScript and I am kind of a newbie to this stuff. If anyone has any sample code or can point me to some good sources of info on this type of implementation, it would really be appreciated.     - default frontpage to open html pages I am a new user of FrontPage 2003 and I have a few questions. I have windows 2000 and office 2000. Can I update FrontPage with the updates although they say they are for Office 2003 and I only have FrontPage 2003 and Office 2000.?     - Installing FP 2000 problems My lad has had to format and reinstall xp. We have the legal FrontPage 2000 cdrom, licence etc etc BUT it won't install properly. We have tried a few times and it takes about 8 hours to install some but gets stuck about 1/4 of the way through. There have been times when it can't find a file on the cd - so we have carefully cleaned it. We have tried installing without the virus checker running too. Any helpful ideas appreciated. SharePoint (on Unix) Question: Short form: FrontPage(for development) + Unix server w/FP2002 extensions + [?] = ability to build chat and message board functionality into a site. Background: My ISP claims to have FP 2002 Extensions for both its UNIX and Windows hosting plans. I would like build a site with a message board and chat functionality. I've never seen the "Discussion Web" from earlier FPs, and KB281595 makes it sound like it's been superseded by "Discussion Board." Other concerns may limit us to a UNIX plan. 1. Can chats and message boards be created with FP (and FP 2002 extensions) only? (i.e. OS of server doesn't matter as long as FP2002 extensions are there?) 2. If not, and SharePoint Services (or Team Services) is required, is it something additional that I would need from an ISP...not just FP 2002 Exts? 3.     - Some form fields have colored backgrounds I've created a form and for some reason some of the fields are showing up with yellow backgrounds.     - Frontpage problem with target and frameset Hi, I've got a frameset with two frames...one is a header and the other is the main frame. The idea being that the header has a logo and some interactive buttons in it...that when you click on them they load the various pages into the main frame. What I'm finding is that when I click on one of the interactive buttons, it is ignoring the target frame and loading the new page into the whole browser window...replacing the frameset. I've correctly set the target...the name matches correctly. I've found an article that says that putting a target into the frame definition causes this...and I should remove it. When I go into code view in FP 2003 and remove it and then click on save...it reappears! Two questions... 1) Is this the cause of the problem? (i.e. the target tag in the frameset definition). 2) How can I remove the target tag from the <frame.....> line...without it reappearing when I click on save.     - Logo image not showing up I have created my site and it looks fine when opened with Internet Explorer. When trying to save the file of the internet (I want to email it as a file), I do a "save as" off of Internet Explorer, some, not all, of the Logos (images) disappear and are replaced by the X box (missing file).     - Dynamic Templates and Table of Contents I am trying to generate a table of contents for my site. I am using dynamic templates and in using them they delete the Title and replace it with a meta name description tag so when the table generates it generates with the file names instead of the title. Environment: Windows Server 2003, Windows Sharepoint Services, SQL Server 2000, FP2003 The question I have regards the complexity of the SQL statement the DataView webpart understands. Are there any additional requirements on this statement? Take for example quite a complex statement like the one above. I've got it by modifying the main part of the proc_FetchDocSearchResults stored procedure in one of my content databases. (I'm trying to build a search engine for the portal and I thought I could start the investigation the easy way :-) The server has no problem in returning the set, but FP2003 chokes ("The data source does not contain valid XML data. The server for the data source returned a non-specific error when..." ). Should the statement be XML returning (for xml or something)?     - denied access I am a webmaster for a school website. Our school system transferred all school websites to a new server (OS unknown). Since then, I cannot access the website using my given login and password on the computer I use in my office. I can access it from other computers, but not the one I primarily edit the website with. I have a .css file with the following lines.... p, td, th, div { font-family: "Times New Roman", Times, Serif; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; } ...this formats my text inside the tags I've listed just how I want it.     - cellpadding for one cell only? Hi, I am using Frontpage 2000. I have a two column table in which I want cellpadding="0" for all cells except for the bottom two. For the bottom two cells, I'd like to be able to set the cellpadding to a higher value. I can't seem to find a way to set cellpadding for specific cells (as opposed to the table as a whole).     - FTP/ I have just completed my first web site, but have not loaded it on to a host provider. There are two separate functions within one of the pages that I need to have working before I go live: 1. Visitor presses button A to download a â??White Paperâ?? to read about new software. If they like it, 2. Visitor fills out a registration form to join a beta program for new software, when complete presses button B to send registration information and activates a download of Beta version of a new software program. My understanding is that I require a â??ftp/cgiâ?? script in order to make this happen. One of the host providers suggested that I visit, â??hotscripts.comâ??. While the fees seem very reasonable, it can be expensive downloading one after another in deciding which one I should be using. I am not certain which one I should be looking at. I have designed a relatively simple table format identical on each page of my web site. ww2.shaganarts.com (test site) I have been adjusting the table and cells to line up vertically with the drop down menu at the top of the page. When I view it in on my computer (windows XP /explorer) It sits perfectly. When I go to anybody elses computer the cells move left and right. I have checked the width and height boxes in table properties - but to no avail. Any ideas? My text isn't wrapping. Could this be it? When I type in the cell the table expands unless I hit the enter key. How do you fix the table format for the entire site? Is there a way to do it with JavaScript or VBscript, and will it work without runing from a server. I need to finish this presentation asap, and this is the only thing holding me back. Also If I use a script to do this, where will I stand from a security point of view, I am sure that Internet explorer has restrictions regarding the launching of executables.     - database results hyperlink target frame I've made a database for web links. In the database results table (generated through database results wizard) I have the choice to have the results(http ...) displayed as a link. That part works well, but as I have that page in a frame, it pulls the web page into the same frame. I just can't seem to get the link to open in a new page. How can I set the hyperlink to open in a new page? My guess is it need a query string (new that kind of talk)for the hyperlink address, but everything I've tried ends up worse that the page appearing in the frame.     - Problem with page views? I am using fp2003 and I am having a terrible time lately with pages displaying right. When I am in design mode the page looks just the way I want it to.
