I have just sat down with my companies website to try and
figure out why it keeps having problems. One thing that
seems to be wrong is that Frontpage seems to create 'font
fights' where there can be pages and pages of changing
font commands that no one wanted.

A second problem is that it doesn't seem to recognize (to
actually adopt the styles of) a css file.

Any ideas to fix either problem?

Provide specific examples of this phenomenon and links to the problem pages
FP does not add any font tags unless you did or applied a Theme

With the page open click Edit > Select All, then click Format > Remove formatting.
Save the page.
Make sure the css is properly applied.
