    - Newsletter width I create a newsletter in FrontPage with several sections actually created as tables. THE PROBLEM: Some of the recipients complain that it is larger than their screen and they are forced to scroll horizontally to read a line. I set the width of each table as 100% and though I solved the problem. But apparently it does not work for every one.     - thumbnails When creating thumbnails using FP2003, I have several problems. 1. FP creates the thumbnail but appends a number at the end of the file name. Why? 2. Once I have created the Thumbnail in FP, I work on the file in Dreamweaver. Is there a way to enlarge the thumbnail?- yet retain a non pixilated look?     - Download without privelages My users run my Windows application and run FTP protocol to upload some executable (some other excitable) to my site. On other occasion they use IE browser to download the executable (that was earlier uploaded ). Problem is that the ftp directory that holds the uploaded executable won't allow a download without user/password. Is there a solution to this problem?     - Events View Filtering Phenomena I am using WSS 2.0 and FrontPage 2003. I have to create a weekly E-Newsletter page. There would be one webpart page per week. All would be stored in a document library. Part of the E-Newsletter displays info from the Events List for that week. I have done two varities of aspx pages; one with the Events webpart placed on the page, the other using a DataView. In both cases, the web part is filtered by the Event's Begin field. I have noticed that the ../Events/AllItems.aspx page has a million 'Events' views under the 'Select a View' section. It appears the WSS or FrontPage creates a new Events view for each aspx page. Is there anyway to get around this? Is there a non-visible webpart that could be put on each page that could be set to a date and then used to feed the Events webpart as a parameter? Or is there some code (CAML?) that could be inserted into each page that would feed a date parameter to the filter condition? This is a pain!!! Thanx in advance!     - Design so Ad Blocker not block valid content I recently created a FrontPage site with a professionally designed template. Looks great, but a friend with 'Ad Blocker' software (in Norton Internet Security 2006) cannot see my site properly unless he turns off 'Ad Blocker'. I don't actually have any advertisements on this site. It appears that the ad blocker is seeing some of the software as advertisements. In particular, I have some JavaScript and a dynamically generated navigation panel. The navigation panel does not appear at all if 'Ad Blocker' is on. Consequently, I would like to change my design so that 'Ad Blocker' does not block it. I know that there are a number of blockers out there and presumably they work in different ways. However, as more and more people get 'Ad Blocker' software, I can see that this would be a growing issue with people seeing my site. Are there some general coding guidelines to avoid this problem?     - Frontpage should have 'word wrap' view option for the code I can't seem to find an option to view the code with 'word wrap' like I can with other HTML editors (or even "Notepad'). It really becomes a problem when you want to highlight code that is off the screan.     - Date Query SASP page fails in IIS6, continued The last thread was getting too long so I have re-posted I use the FP insert wizards to generate the code automatically, and do not want to get into programming. (I want to spend my time making money not coding!) I have an Access database embeded in a site. It uses ASP pages to return data. Recently my ISP provider moved from an older versin to IIS6 / Windows2003 server. Most pages still work, but any with a date function do not. The database now only returns certain dates, for example 10/10/2007 works, but 01/09/2007 does not, even thougth this date has valid database entries.     - F.P. 2003 Extentions I have a Linux plan with my host. While trying to upload using the same process I've always used, I get a message from F.P.. Server error, stating the server sent a responce which F.P. could not parse. The option I've always used in remote web properties is F.P. or Share point services. A Tech. at host co. said they don't use share point service, when I told him it states OR Share point serv., and that I have always used this option for uploading, he replied it again and to just drag and drop into the FTP.     - FP and MS Access Browse Error Frontpage 2003 and MS Access DB. Using the Database Results wizard and setting the one record per display option, so that the next /prior/last etc buttons appear. I can only browse through the first 2 records and jump to the last record. Despite the fact that there may be several hundred records to display! I have tried this on two different installations on Win XP each time the same results, I have tried with my own dB (.mdb) and with MS NWIND (.mdb) still no joy.     - onchange not sufficient to handle changes in a frame I am using a pull down box and firing the onchange event to put some stuff in a frame "main". However, other objects can also update the same frame. I would like to be able to restore the image in the frame by re-selecting the item in the pull down list. This works fine as long as the item I select is not the on currently selected (but not necessarily shown) If I reselect the same item in the pull down list, as expected the "main" frame will not get restored since truely there is "no change" I tried adding "onkeyup" to the pulldown box. OK, presssing return on the same item will cause it to get redrawn and that causes the "main" frame to get re-selected. But who would know to press return. I could add a reset button, but it seems to be there should be some way to force a reselect. I looked at the methods associated with the pull down list and dont see anything obvious.     - Second Shopping Cart Question Just signed on and I see someone else has a shopping cart question but my situation is different....I manage several retail web sites that all have secure order forms people fill out with credit card info., we then process the order in the store and ship.     - published database I have a frontpage development directory containing:- 1. An Access 2000 database (in the fpdb subdirectory). 2. A number of hand coded javascript .asp files to read from and write to this database. I have published the development directory to a published directory (c:\inetpub\wwwroot). When a web user uses the .asp files to update the database, then (quite naturally) it is the published copy of the database that gets updated, not the development copy. This seems to imply that, once published, future updates to the database should be made to the published copy and not the local development copy. Q1). Have I understood this right? Q2). Is there anything to be gained in splitting the database into a front-end (containing queries) and a back-end (containing the tables) so that both development copy and published copy see the same dataset? When I tried to do this, it didn't work as the front-end tables were still linked to the development directory database, using the development directory pathname. The error message was: Error Type: Microsoft JET Database Engine (0x80004005) 'D:\developmentdirectory\fpdb\backend.mdb' is not a valid path.     - ftp: illegal port command 500 LPRT not understood This error showed up on the OLD SITE shortly after I created a NEW SITE that used front page extensions. Somehow, my old project that is html only (FP2003) got corrupted with a new project that uses aspx and is being published with frontpage extensions under VS2005 googled http://tinyurl.com/y57chm Iis nice to know that I am not the only one with this problem. Finally got it to work correctly (??) but I disabled the ftp publishing service on the computer that I am doing the development on. Not sure how attempting to publish to a remote site gets confused with the ftp server on the local system???? During the publishing I was told that the remote server had a file and asked me if I wanted to delete the file. Unaccountably, all the files supposidly on the remote server were actually on the local development system and I was actually attempting to put them on the remote. I told it not to delete anything and it ended up putting those items on the remote system like I wanted. So if the destination system is a yahoo server, how is it that it asked me if I want to delete stuff from the remote server when I know it isnt there? Either something is not right, or my understanding of what is going on is lacking. I never had any problem until I set up IIS and started the local ftp publishing service. So how do I maintain different projects? One project is on yahoo and lacks fp extensions. The other project is on a local system here on the intranet and has fp extensions. When I try to upload my website to hosting server the address is doubled -
example "http://www.mydomain.com\mydomain.com\file" - why? The hosting
service claims problem is on my end. I can find nothing in the set-up or
instructions that would cause this. Have tried everything I can find or dream
up but am at a loss as to what would cause this. Am about ready to give up on
"Front Page" and go back to my "Freeware" program. Please help - ANYBODY

Did you try erasing what's there and just putting in the address of the site
(http://www.xyz.com)
