    - Difficulty adding records to a Access database through frontpage Hi all This has been posted somewhere else too. i thought i would try posting it in more places and organize the problem a little better. My system is running WinXP pro, IIS5.1, FP2003. I have successfully created and imported a database into the web. I have also successfully accessed and displayed the records in the database using a combination of DRW and direct manipulation of the asp code. The problem is trying to add records to the database. I have tried directly creating a form and making sure that the form fields and database columns match. Connections were also verified. I accessed the form through the browser and added a record. The operation completed successfully, however, no data was actually recorded. I have also used the DIW to no avail. Same problem, successful completion but no data actually written. I have seen the KB http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;219158 However, that did not help. A step-by-step of one of the methods I have used is: 1. Create a new database (test.db) with one table (Results), two fields, an autonumber field for the primary key, and another field which I have called value1. The field value1 was set to text with default values. 2. Imported the database into frontpage, which was placed into \fpdb. The necessary connections were verified. 3. Create a new page and named it test.asp. 4. Inserted a form using Insert | Form | Form. 5 Inserted a text box using Insert | Form | Textbox. 6. In the textbox properties, changed the name to value1 and the rest of the selections set to default. 7. In form properties, selected 'send to database' 8. In form properties, saved fields, ensured that the formfield and database columns matched, i.e. both are value1. 9. In IIS, I selected the \fpdb directory and checked, script source access, read, write,directory browsing, log visits, and index this resource. 10. Open test.asp in a web browser and key in information. Here I have entered 'one1' into the lone textbox. hit submit and get a confirmation page. 11. Open test.db and nothing has been added. I have also tried letting frontpage create a database and connection too. From what I understand, this will prevent any errors related to form field and database columns not being exactly the same. This did not solve the problem, i.e. I still get a confirmation without any data actually being written into the database. I next tried sending the form data to a csv file and a text file. Upon entering the data into the text box and hitting submit, no default confirmation page was displayed, and neither of the files contained any results. Does this mean that I have a configuration problem? I checked the permissions, and I have gone to the extent of making all folders and its contents read, write, and executable. I have further completed an uninstall and a reinstall of IIS. I am in need of any suggestions and ideas. Thanks Chin Tag: DTPicket control Tag: 65236

    - How do I set a photo to automatically change to a different photo I need to add a gallery of five pictures on my home page. I want each one of those pictures to change to a different set of pictures after a specified amount of time (e.g. 2-3 seconds). The pictures are not linked to anything, they are merely for aesthetics, but I want them to change automatically without any other behavior attribute (e.g. mouse rollover, click, etc.).     - Email Bot Assistance I am creating my first web site. My host allows me up to 100 email accounts and many family members have expressed the desire to have me host their email (with a family name domain). The web host has a horrible front end to their web based email. It is POP and SMTP compatible. It is FrontPage compatible and they actually recommend using FrontPage for the front end.     - better way for renaming a folder? Hi, Thanks for the advise in advance. Suppose folder A is going to replace all contents in folder B. What will be some other alternatives other than renaming folder A's name to folder's B (and folder B's to other name)? Background information: We recently upgraded a shopping cart software, and for the safety reason, we created another folder (folder A) for the upgrade and testing while keep the original folder (B) intact. After everything is being completed and pointing database to the new one, we renamed folder B (original shopping cart) to another name and folder A to folder B. The process went through fine and almost immediately switched over without anyone notice. But the problem with this approach is - when we renamed folder B to another name (se. C), all contents inside folder B changed its reference to C. We wish to retain all references as it is so that it can be used as back up. In this case, we had to use Find to serach the entire folder (many contents) and replaced all references of the new folder name (C) to the original one. This is very time consuming. So the question is - is there a better approach other than using renaming for switching contents of the two folders, or if is there a way that can retain all references intact during renaming?     - Database Replication or Dual Table Submission By using the DRW, is there a way to submit data from the form to two different tables or databases from one submission? The problem occurs after I uploaded it to my web host and view it: the background design is gone--it is now white, and the images (.jpg and .gif) are replaced by the dreaded red Xs.     - Photo Gallery Problems I use a lot of pictures in my husband's website; therefore, I loved FP Photo Gallery. The problem now that I am facing is I am unable to remove my pictures from the gallery when needed. I thought it was my computer, so I loaded FP onto a different computer and it is doing the same thing. I click on the PG Properties, and not only does the pictures that I have on that page not listed in the left hand box, but it says that I have 0 pictures in my gallery and I have 7. I am looking into JAlbum, for the simple fact that we do post a lot of pictures, but I am not familiar with it, and I don't know how to intergrate it into my website. We used the FP2K3 database feature to create an Access 2K3 single table database connected to the form. Additionally, we created two .ASP data Results pages where we display data results on the Web site. One results page displays a brief Summary of the data, and the other results page displays Detailed detail of each record. Our problem? How do we build a hyperlink from a field ("Job ID") in the Summary data Results page to link to its counterpart field in the Detailed data Results page? Making sense ..? E.g., we want users to be able to click on the Job ID link in the Summary page and be taken directly to the other Results page to see the Detailed data about that same Job ID number.     - Editing Hyperlink Styles I am developing a personal site from scratch using FP 2003. I have placed navigation words/phrases (such as "Home" and "Photo Album") on the pages. The words exist in several places on each page and are in different colors and font sizes. When I set up a hyperlink to facilitate navigation, FP defaults to changing the font to blue with an underline. I do not want this to happen... I know that you can change the color of the hyperlink text for the entire page - not helpful for my situation given the differing colors of the text used. Plus, I do not want the text to be underlined. Here is my question: is it possible to disable the default underline and color change for a hyperlink? What I would prefer to happen is that the text with an accompanying hyperlink does not look any different until it is scrolled over. At the moment the text is scrolled over, I would like the hyperlinked text to either turn bold (or un-bold as the case may be) or become underlined to indicate the presence of a link.     - Positioning Relative to window I have a graphic along the bottom of my page, It acts as the base line to my page. I want this to always rest on the bottom, regardless of the resolution of the screen. I beleive this is possible with absolute positioning and percentages.     - FrontPage 2K3/Access 2K3: Form Output not retain original text for Hello, We built a FP2K3 Web site with several forms, and used FP2K3' built-in feature to create associated Access 2K3 databases connected to the forms. We then used the FP2K3 DB Results feature to display the form results onto .ASP pages. That all works fine. Except for the formatting of the text in the Results pages -- there is no formatting, just plain unformatted text.     - Placing a ListField value into an IFRAME URL I have a Sharepoint Services website that I am editing with Frontpage. I have a hyperlink field (assigned in sharepoint) for Server Status. When a user clicks on this link, it sends them to the URL value that I typed in when I filled out the Sharepoint form.     - Thanks for Guest Book SPAM advice I probably shouldn't waste post space on a "thank you" - but, your advice worked so well that I thought I would remind those "still suffering" that there is a solution to SPAM in your Guest Books: change the name from Guest Book to something else... I found this advice given in an older Thread and it totally eliminated my SPAM mail replies to my Guest Book sign up page. Actually had to change the links to Guest Book and the page name Guest Book. Seeing what the SPAMMERS did to automatically updated databases, I had decided to have my "sign-ups" send me an e-mail - and, then I update my database manually (low volume so I could do that.) However, I was receiving hundreds of phoney SPAMS in my InBox everyday... They ALL went away after I got rid of any references to Guest Book.
